Thread: Trader Nerf!

    Exclamation Trader Nerf!

Great, now that I have your attention... lol.. anyways I dont really think that traders need a nerf... however rather then making that class weaker... make all of the other professions stronger to match up to trader/doc/NT/fixer standards... I dont think that any class should be wanting to be better then another profession... however just want their profession be the best at what they are supposed to do... for example.. Engineers and trade skills.. I think that engineers should get a line of buffs that are self only that buff their trade skills and comp lit... also Agents and concealment.. I think that agents should be able (as their concealment gets higher) to sneak at a faster pace then other professions... perhaps full speed at aprox 2000 concealment?.. also Soldiers.. make them able to buff their groups damage etc with a group buff... similar to crat speechs.. I mean.. if you have a general in your group.. couldnt he enhance your fighting at all? :P.. just a few ideas out of pages of ideas I have to improve the game... stop whining that you arent better then another profession... you should just want to be the best you can at what you are supposed to do... its like a trader saying... Hey I want to hit harder then an agent, buff better then everyone, have better trade skills then an engineer, heal like a doc and evade like an MA.. but hey I dont care if I cant do what im supposed to do... Trade!~ lol just a small sample of the ideas I have.. and stop your whining already :P

    the problem is this

beefing up 8ish classes takes 8 times the programmers, 8 times the testers, 8 times the bug hunters as nerfing one class.

It is pretty darn obvious that there are issues with funcom and the amount of resources they have,

hence the q200 nerfstick of doom that comes down from time to time.

I would have to say that this is an typicall example of how an flame should not look like. You need to think things through and calm down before you try to write an flame... Im sorry but I would rate this flame with an 1. Aggression is to high, grammar and cursing isnt to well planned... Maybe he has an point somewhere in there but I dont even want to find it. - Centurion3

Here are some quoted from the profession description off the main AO site
    http://www.anarchy-online.com/conten...e/professions/

    Engineer
"The Engineer is the practical builder of hardware in a world where technology is dominant. They specialise in robot pets and electronics, but are also able to handle a certain amount of nano technology."

    Trader
"The Trader specialises in tradeskills and obtaining goods at the lowest possible prices. They also "trade" in skills, transferring them eithe from themselves to a target, or from the target onto themselves for a short period in time."

Trader by description is the one that specializes in tradeskills not engineer. Quit trying to say that the engineer is supposed to be the best when they aren't.

Why don't you ask FC to fix the real problems with engineers, pet pathing, buffs that are useless at high levels and cost too much ncu, etc? And ask FC to make the trader comp lit buff castable on others again?

Just because we are averagely ok in mass PvP doesnt mean that we function at all in the rest of the game...

NTs stop complaining... you are the best in the game at what you are supposed to do... Mass Nuking... an NT can easily take out a group of 30+ mobs wether they be higher or lower level then the NT.... much much quicker then every other profession... they werent ment to be the best damage dealer in a 1 on 1 fight rather a master at 1 on 30+ fight..... a prime example of this is the claw camp out in PM... a level 110 NT with a mocham can easily wipe out the entire camp in a matter of seconds... while it takes my 150 agent aprox 40x longer.... im just saying to make everybody match up to the STANDARDS of the class... just like docs/NTs/and Fixers do.... Docs = best at healing, NT = best at nuking large groups, Fixers best at well.... whatever a fixer is supposed to be good at considering they are pretty much very good on all aspects :P... just saying they should do things like that for the other classes.. I dont really need to see an extreme damage boost for all other professions... or many defensive capabilities.... just want the classes to be the best at what they are supposed to do... for example Enforcer is supposed to be able to tank a ton of damage... they somewhat do now... but with all the recent changes it needs an upgrade... Agents.. supposed to be the masters of concealment... and as in their 190+ title... Grandmaster Assassin's... IE Quick Powerful burst of damage unrivling anyone else.... then slightly reduced... but still very high damage after that... our defenses are supposed to rely almost entirely on evades... IE they cant touch us they cant kill us.. and our armor is supposed to be like tissue paper.... so if they do hit us they do a ton of damage... well at least they have the last part right so far

just saying classes should be improved so they can do what they were ment to do... and to the best of their abilities..... IE Give the damn engys a self trade skill buff at higher levels and throw in a little comp lit with it... they need to be able to build the towers too... not to mention all of the others things.. Granted they have the best BASE trade skills but without the buffs... many people dont feel the need to raise them... I say give them a self line... thats all they would need for trade skills... as for traders... stop making them so damage oriented... they are traders... they are supposed to be average at damage and defenses... they are supposed to bribe their way out of tough situations... why not a de-agro nano that works like 40% of the time and costs alot of money for traders each time they cast it... maybe 50k?... this way they could bribe monsters off of them as a defense... just saying there are so many possibilities in this game to make every class more like they should be... Crats for example... give them a high line of nanos similar to Asylium or however you spell it... make it so they can go into enemy territory for short amounts of time without the guards attacking them instantly... for low levels maybe one that works like concealment sort of... like a False Asylium... that if someone has a high enough perception as in... high level guards.. they will see through it some of the time and attack... and high level ones that cant be seen through... just so many things I can think of to improve what the classes are ment to be like... not everything should revolve on who can buff the best or who can do the most damage... just make everyone like they are supposed to... and when they work together they could accomplish anything..

WooooooHooooo! we can AE nuke a bunch of grey mobs. La-de-friggen-da. If we ever AE'd a bunch of greens (not to mention a yellow or a red) we'd be at reclaim faster than you can blink. Our nukes only match the damage other classes guns for 30 seconds, and then we run out of nano and are hosed.

Give us our cyberdeck and a self only line of HE that is 2x the sharable line.

Actually me and my wife(DOC) aoe'd those awful levels around 80ish orso at shades in 20k, green at the time and got 25 to 30k xp a pull, soloing you might as well forget it. 3 NTs AOEing 2 docs and another class can effectively kill the entire spawn at a camp with some risk and get decent xp.

    Soloing , well ....................

PvP, after a trader and doc hits you with debuffs its all over and no fun anymore.

What NT's need is more variety in nukes and some kind of bonus on recharge dont want to be able to instacast and instant recharge but at least if I can knock a second off of recharge times at higher inits that would be great.

As Far as the original subject , traders, PvP with them is ridiculous once you get deprived etc... you might as well just /terminate esp as an nt or doc. Otherwise they are ok to play in PvM.

.... omg you sitting there saying woohoo... I grouped with a 170 NT before in a mission... QL 190 team mission... this is exactly what we did... I cast MC moch on her, and she fully buffed up... ran through the first floor getting all the mobs agro on her.. dragged them all into first room (she ran fast enough to not get hit) now.. she ran around in a big circle in the main room casting PBAoE every once in a while... at 150 aprox you can start insta-casting them... or get very close to it.. she would stop... cast AoE... run around til recharge stopped... then cast again... all the time staying just out of reach of the mobs... however... she was doing an average of 1.5-2k to the ENTIRE floor of the mobs... they all died within 4 minutes of doing this... then the next floor... she dragged them all into one room... cast NS.. then proceded to AoE them until they got low... NS ran off and she ran around some so they couldnt touch her.... stopped casted NS again... then proceded to AoE til death... it is so easy for an NT to solo a group of mobs at high level... most people dont relize this... it takes skill not just stand in one spot... tap a button.. wait for it to stop recharging... tap button again.. thats not how it works.. it takes strategy and skill to win a fight.. no matter who you play.. yes even fixers who evade most shots still need strategy... the thing is... some professions.. no matter how much you plan for an event can still die 95% of the time... while other classes if you plan well can have a 99.9% chance of success... try thinking about it... as for you saying you can kill a group of greys?... did you ever stop to think how much harder that group of greys is to kill for other professions?.. it takes my 150 agent aprox 20-25 min to kill one pulls worth from the claw camp in PM... (was trying to get GA II for my reroll... fixer).. well that takes me aprox 20-25 min using roots/snares.. and hitting as hard as I could... then a 110 NT comes to the same spot with MC mocham on.. runs in the camp and casts AoE... then casts NS and casts AoE til they all die... takes aprox 20 sec to kill the entire camp... then everything respawns and they do it again... all without much effort... but I have to go all out when a group of level 70-90 mobs are attacking me... anyways just saying that NT got a grid armor disc and sold it for a couple hundred mil.... then came back and did the same thing the next day.. it makes me pretty sick when a profession that can do something like this so easily... just sits back and says they suck...

For me the biggest thing i wish people would understand is that not all classes should be good at pvp. Some classes are more challenging then others and some just end up being good at pvp. There is no reason why an engineer should rock at pvp. Thats just ass, to ask for it. I mean damn, soldiers _should_ rock at pvp but the sux0r. Get over it, if you don't like playing your class cause you can't pvp then play another one, just for pvping.

Hell, twink an opifex whatever into ql70 imps at lvl 10 like most people do.

  13. #13

    No way

Let's give Traders their very first nuke. A nuke that only targets NTs. All kidding aside, do you think Traders' debuffs shuld be halfed or the duaration shortened in PvP?

  14. #14
OMG!... dammit guys im not talking only about Pvp im talking about everything... Different classes are good at different things.. or so they should be anyways.. Engineers should be the best at making/repairing/modifying all things mechanical... Agents should be able to actually spy/steal/and ASSASSINATE people (kill them quick)... Soldiers should be able to hold their own in battle and give bonuses to their group when they are in a fight situation.. MAs should be able to sit in airports handing out flowers to people.... err ignore that last one.. but seriously there are professions out there that are made to do specific things... and when they cant do them that well... it kinda irks me... I mean... you would think that having a really high concealment 2000+ an agent should be able to sneak at full speeds.... and yes I know its easy to get to for most 150+ agents... but I mean come on thats 150+ every class should grow into their own... possibly after the 2000+ maybe you could add extra bonuses to concealment for agents to make a sort of incentive to get that high... just like you should do for doctor's treatment... and adventurer's perception.. just because... well nevermind you all are just going to throw down another one of my ideas... simply because you dont understand it the way I do... good luck to you ill leave you all to this one..

Well if you like to look at the description that closely, why dont' we give a fix on the other areas as well.

    "Trader Overview
The Trader is an unorthodox profession, the name coming from both the affinity for trade skills and the more symbolic trading or swapping of skills, health and more. He is at home in a team, as his sacrifices through nano programs are very valuable to his companions. The Trader is a very complex profession, and a very social one.

And yet again im explaining myself to all the morons who dont understand me... I didnt say traders shouldnt be good at trade skills, i just said engineers need to be better at it... I dont practice the idea that in order to be the best at something they have to NERF other friggin classes.. I think traders can stay the way they are... even though its pretty over powered... they just have to make the other professions stronger.. thats it....
