The big problem is that such a bot can only monitor the 1-50 channel, unless you are willing to take the time to levelup the character to 50, 100 or even 120.

And the other big problem is the amount of ressource it need to run... When it has tons of item watching requests from a lot of people, it probably takes ages to search all of these in every message posted on the shopping channels. And the amount of tells to send people to notify them about items is probably a major bottleneck too.

Unless I'm totally out of touch Quaseem made the first one(s), but many picked up the idea and made their own.

You now have versions in everything from java via perl to VB and C++, on both linux and win32 platforms.

The basic idea is to log a bot on to the chat client using one of your char slots. There was some uncertainty as to FC's position on these, but as they now endorse helpbot in the subway I guess it's all good

So whoever hosts this needs one or more free alt slots and a server running.

I dont really think a shopbot is viable, as the chat system was never scaled for that amount of traffic to a single client.

Smaller special purpose bots with less traffic are doable however.

Heh, I didn't know you could make a bot to sell your items for you. I was going to suggest such an idea because in Ultima Online, you can hire NPCs for your own personal vendors.

However, am easier fix would just be to have the NPC vendor and machine offer you more money on trades. 50% of it's retail value would be nice.

Well. There are ways to increase the return.

1) Up your
- Comp lit for booths
- Psychology for NPC vendors

2) Find a trader you trust completely and get him to sell for you in the trader shop. ( 40% +++ extra revenue ). Best to do this only for valuable items, or he/she might get fed up

3) If you are a tradeskill oriented prof, cut gems, recycle monsterparts, create filigree rings to increase value of certain items like gems and things that can be recycled as silver/gold/platinum
