Quote from April, the FC PR person in another thread:
"We are doing everything we can to encourage our distributors to make TNW a priority, but we have had a rough relationship with retailers and we're trying to repair that. It is tough to get in though."
Rough? Well let me explain what that means through my travels today trying to find NW...
EB stores in 2 malls :"Yeah, we HAD AO when it first came out, but after getting about 50% returns, we decided to ship the remaining product back to the distributor. That was about a year ago, so as far as NW is concerned, we are NOT getting any copies in unless you specificly pre-order one with us."
Wal-Mart : "Anarchy what? Never heard of that. Listen, we only sell software that people want, now take for example this shelf of Everquest and Daoc..."
Best Buy : "Yeah, we might have a few copies, but there are some problems with the distributor, they seem to think it was out yesterday, but our computer says something about next july and we cannot get through to them to ask."
Circuit City: "Funny, your the first person to ask about that, I dont think that Anarchy is even playing anymore, did not the company go out of business 4 months after launch?"
So, after sifting through all the apes at the specific stores taht seem to have the same blank stare as teh McDonalds cashier when you rder a Whopper, I have decided that this is simply # 326 of a LONG list of things that are wrong with FunCom.
To Whit, I am sending you a bill for my time and gas spent attempting to track down a product that simply does not exist.
