Thread: NW shipping in FRANCE

  1. #21
C'est vrai que 95% de NW est installer avec le 14.7, la seule chose qui manque entre l'installation beta et l'installation normal, c'est les 4 pauvres sons des commandes vocales .

    the greatestb thief

Yes, in in theory, your idea is a good one, KaOrYi.
But in that case, we have a problem with bank : do you know how much this greatest thief will tax you for an international money transfert ? Nah you dont want to know
Same with financial company like Western Union and so on....
For such small amount, it costs you a lot more that the shipping costs. And I said alot

"Thank you for choosing EBgames.com as your online software store.

Well as shown in this thread french people, really dont like to speak any other language but their own...

I dont think u can blame FC for shipping costs, it more likely DR thats responsible for that... Also I asked EBgames, about shipping time to europe, they said 5-6 working days, and the shipping cost would be 19$ I think or was it 29$ ? cant remember...

French people might want to try ordering the game from a german site, I think that would make the shipping costs smaller...

I read somewhere that NW wouldnt be available in France before mid january... Maybe they need to translate everything to french?

Plz make an appeal to your goverment to allow more english words into france, Its not FCs, Nintendo's or any other gaming company fault that they have to redo so much to get anything into ur country.... This goes for alot of other big countries too...

Then u might get things on release date`?

PS: Im not a frenchmen hater, I still love ur country alot, just dont understand ur language

Jamespond : no problem, we just speak french here because this thread is not supposed to interest other countries

And no, it's not FC's fault. Too bad, we can't bother Cz with it (j/k ).

Phake : tu as tort d'annuler, j'ai eu le même message mais c'est rentré dans l'ordre un ou deux jours après.
Et effectivement, ils ont pas mis plus de 2 jours à me l'envoyer

That's because this is a thread of interest mainly to French people. Using French mainly allows us to use extremelly vulgar cuss world targetted at the various involved parties without risking censorship.

Errrr... Last I checked, my AO client is 100% in English... The license agreement is 100% in English too... I don't expect NW to be any different. The law requires that the operating manual (not the CD) is translated to French. Could those who have NW tell me how long it would take to translate the "operating manual"?
Besides, it doesn't require to do that in good French, and you can still put the English version in there. It isn't even required to be of the same length, or that all the booklet are translated : only the operating manual.
So, all you have to do is put a single sheet of paper with something like "Honorable user put drive in conductor soft, and mouse activate setup" or something like that, basic altavista automatic translation is enough. Actually, that's pretty much the quality of the docs we often get : automatic translation Chinese->English->French. Must be why we never read the manuals

    The Fench Goverment

I was sent to Paris for work to install some inhouse programmed software on some client side machines for a stock trading firm there. I was stopped in customs, they made me load the software up on a machine there, to check language content. And they read the english manual. I was then escorted back to my plane and refused entry to the country, because it was all in english. They wouldnt even let me make a phone call to my boss to explain to him why I was making a 13 hour plane ride back home with nothing accomplished.

They have very harsh laws there regarding this kinda stuff.

Yep you need a french version of the manual, and it has to be translated by an official translator.

    Uh
That's really weird... I have passed customs with a whole array of illegal stuff (all my orders from the US all in English with no French VAT paid on them, stuff I brought on trips), and I never had any problem... Actually, nothing ever was controlled... Not for customs, and even less for language content.
That might not be very honest, but you should have told the guy you were in for tourism Like most countries, we don't exactly put our brightest people to work at customs, and it looks like the guy self-appointed himself sofware inspector or something... You probably ran into the dreaded over-zealous-custom-guy. I just hope you filled a complain or something.
I would have to ask a friend who works in that area, but I'm pretty sure that the whole stock trading sector works on English language software...

As for language content... Most computer books I buy are in English, not translated, and most of them come from a well known librairy in center of Paris.
And my original Anarchy Online client is STILL in English; I don't even think you can buy a French version of it. It is still sold in all major shops in this version. And NW will be in English too. Softwares are *not* required to be translated. Or maybe they are by the law, but noone follows it. The manual is required to, but I find the translation to be often of bad quality (asiatic computer parts manuals are often a very good laugh), most of the time, I'm glad the English version is included, because this one is understandable at least.

Could be. who knows. Not the first time I have had troubles with customs for work related stuff.

Hard to claim your a tourist though when you fly in one day and oput the next.
