AO New Engine Crashing

Seems to run mostly fine. Only crashes when I ALT+TAB, then try to maximize.

I have the same issue when running fullscreen. But running windowed it does not crash when I tab out and in.

Matter of perspective I guess. As I see it I am paying to play the live game as I have been doing before. Beta client is not forced on me when I pay.

well was trying to play NE for few hours but gave up because of CTD on zoning/alt+tabing. I can live w/o Alt+tab, but CTD without any error message makes playing unstable.

Also, there is weird Crash after loging off: Anarchy Client spots responding and it shut downs.

In my case I did not crash when alt -tabing or zoning however sometimes when I zone using grid exit or whom-pah my client terminates in a same way as if I pressed Alt-F4 twice.
When I relog to AO I get msg character already logged with option to continue playing.
After I select "continue" everything is OK and my character is in front of grid or whom-pah.

Any idea how to fix it? and why is that happening?

Because I got that issue even on the old client as soon as got win 8 installed.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. In many, many hours of running 2 different client installs with different settings, opening multiple copies of each, logging tons of characters on and off, running the old engine alongside, and even zoning through ICC a fair bit - I had a grand total of 1 client hang. Not counting that big lag spike which d/ced some of me.

FWIW I'm running them all Windowed (with border) on a Win7x64 i7-K series with an old GTX560 Ti. Not even SSD.

Oh, a thought occurs. I made completely new installs for the new engine clients. I copied the prefs over but otherwise fresh folders, complete downloads, installs, new ndGUIs, new AoRK/SL, new AOIA etc. I left the old client folders etc patched to run 18.8 but otherwise untouched.

its on Win Vista. Also, under Win Vista and XP "windows" key is not working. Tabing cause crash in 95% cases.

In my case, "Windows" Key doesn't minimize the new engine client (which I think I'll actually like over time.) I did have crashing on old client with XP x64 when alt tabbing since 18.7. Not a problem on same PC with Windows 7, however.

Actually, the new engine is pretty smooth on my PC. No odd crashes in game so far, other than when I close AO. I get Client ID process crash.

Trying a driver update but I would be very surprised if that would change anything. As the game just froze and I had to terminate it from the control panel I didn't get a crash log.

Seems I spoke to soon. Zoning from Rome Red into Rome Blue (the north end) hangs my client. Nowhere else does. Not even ICC. Just this one zone.

Try running borderless windowed mode, seems to fix most crash issues.

I doubt it, looks like from now on we are paying for becoming beta testers.
Everything is f^%#$^% up from the introduction of new engine patch.

With old engine I had 60-100FPS depending on zone and population, now I have 20-25FPS
With old engine I hardly ever crashed, now I can zone 3-4 times then my client will shut down as if I pressed Alt-F4 twice or crash with some random error.
With old engine I could use 3-5 clients at the same time for buffing twinking etc. Alt tabbing was no problem, now ....
Downloader is/was f^%$#@ up as well, pointing to wrong instalation files and unable to continue if interupted/stopped so it took me 3 tries (1-2 hours each) to even install that crap.

I am fed up, just cancelled my account and not going to renew it unless it is fixed within few days.
Got few weeks untill my subscription runs out but doubt I ll renew it.

You are paying for a sub just as you were before; you are not forced into the beta.

If you run in windowed borderless almost half your problems would vanish, the frame would improve if you dropped some of the view distances.

If you're this easily frustrated though...

Just stay with the old client until there's some updates.

Well, I am sorry, but it is beta, and before funcom had a choice of running or not running the new engine.

Now we have choice. Anyone complaining of soon tm, can use new engine.

Anyone complaining of new engine can still use old engine.

Never before we have been given so much in AO. And now you emorage?

I am torn between what to use myself, so i run new on paid and old on froob alts.

If anything one can learn about this dev team is, finally we are getting updates in resonable time with good speed. So the moment they fix these I wanna be on new engine enjoying sexy graphics.

The new engine beta is optional. You don't have to use it.
You are paying to play the game and you can just keep using the old engine.

What's wrong with that?
