Game Crashes at Launch

Hey guys,

so ive downloaded and installed the launcher today, patched and everything seemed smooth but then i get this weird crash when hitting the Play Button....

i have already tried several things like driver updates, installing direct x etc....i even installed AO several times on different locations, deleted the prefs file, changed the graphic options but nothing helped so far....

My OS is Windows 8.1 the installation is pretty fresh 6 days old, all other games and programms work fine, AO is the only game that crashes....

I really hope somebody can help me.....

Edit: also tried running in compatibility modes Vista/7/98/XP.......

Have you tried installing DX7 as well as DX9 ?

so, i have fixed the issue by installing win 8.1 pro again, the game runs perfectly now, maybe something went wrong with my other win 8.1 setup and some files got corrupted or something....im so happy to be back after a 2 year break...
