Sounds like a pretty easy fix.
It's not a nerf, it's fixing a "bug" that should not be able to operate in the first place.
In my mind I thought the same thing, remove DM right before birthday celebration to prevent NT's from dominating the rider spawn very publicly. Of course no one from FC would probably admit that may have been the real reason.
The nano patch fix will probably come right after birthday celebration completes imo.

I personally vote Tradejill to be our Community Manager.
All of his posts are completely without any trolling attempts, factually and well structured. And he proves that he do know the game. Much more then previous CM. Hire that guy, FC.
Greetings,

(Its my personal opinion and no, I do not want to troll)
Except that when you leave something IG for extended periods of time, ppl build their chars around it. Devs may also have taken it into consideration when making decisions on other balance issues.
Personally I am all for achieving balance through small steps and not by making a big omelet out of the game and then hoping for the best. But then you must start with the most op'd AND underpowered classes. Not with one that's not even top 5 if you weigh in mass pvp situations.
And yes, I have both 220 fix and enf myself.

I like what you did here, Genele. Thanks for spending some of your free time to answer questions
I joked about this a couple weeks ago when someone mentioned all of the stuff I used to do under my old org name 'Events by Jill' on RK2. To be clear, I have no interest in working for Funcom. I did indeed volunteer, in this thread, to serve as some sort of player advocate/liaison but Genele already stated that wasn't happening in her reply. I also PM'd the Community Managers and let them know I'm available if there's something they need help with but I fully expect them to not take me up on that offer.
Outside of that, there isn't much I could really do to help. I used to organize in-game events (classes, contests, trivia, scav hunts, etc) but it started to feel like a lot of work for nothing. I got a lot of support from players but relatively none from Funcom. They wouldn't, for instance, even entertain an in-game announcement as it was a player run event and 'they'd have to do it for everyone'. Same type of statement regarding offering up some sort of official prize for winners (i.e. funcom pack/points/SL apartment/etc). It was as if they were concerned that supporting my player run event would set a precedent causing a flood of player run events that would also want support. My thoughts "If we could be that lucky.".
We desperately need a trader professional but that's not for me. I am really a 'jack/jill' of all trades, master of none. I know my 220 shotgun trader really well but outside of that build, and maybe my 157 trader.. I'm not that well versed in MA traders or RE or whatever other combinations are out there. I went the traditional route, it worked and I stuck with it.
So thanks for the vote of confidence but yeah, I'll pass I do have a day job.
Ooh, I don't have a dayjob. FC, give me a dayjob!
And again, it is such a shame (for Funcom) to read these sentences since they are honest, kind and/but sad. Somehow.
I am simply wondering. I know much people who want to assist or help Funcom and Anarchy Online - for free. It is unclear for me why they deny all this help with such a big arrogance - they should be thankful and take on these helping hands, instead of simply ignoring it.
But when it comes to a just a bit flaming or maybe a word against Funcom, the infractions are raining and we are harvesting other punishments. Yes yes, old story anyway.
It is just absolutely disappointing to read this.
They don't wanna endorse player generated content because they can't control it and they don't really know you. You could seem like the nicest person and turn out to be anything but. It's different with stuff like docaholic's icons. Because those can be reviewed before release. Whatif FC were to endorse player content and the player abused it to spread political or religious propaganda? Or to link porn sites? How would FC look then?
Or use copyrighted content from other artists and have that suddenly sit in FC's content... the amount of review you need to put user generated content through before allowing it in to your revenue generating product is very timeintensive and expensive. Not to mention the various contracts and disclaimers that would need to be written up by lawyers.
No, far too cumbersome and expensive for AO.

... An unknown and foreign person who got nothing to do with the, the community and every other concern is ok - but (here for example) Traderjill wouldnt be ok ?
He would be there for "only" a correspondence between FC and the player base - not in the game own and inner structure. He woulndt create or endorse and content - not more then he is doing through his past and current posts.
Like the rest of us who over the yeares spent countless hours and words testing, debating, evaluating, collecting feedback and referring it? That had very little impact when there was manpower to manage it all. Now, with 2 people on the AO team and a novel worth of posts being written adressing them every day?

I really prefer not to be the example here but since I am....
The in-game events that I used to run were extremely well organized. Probably more organized than anything Funcom itself could put together. Everything was documented from beginning to end. In-game classes (even those on voice) had pre-set scripting, scav hunts had clearly posted rules, public accountability on donated prizes (from org sponsors), etc.
While I understand what Masta said about content that is going to go in game, I don't think this applied to any of the social events I was running on a pretty regular basis (classes, contests, hunts). Obviously I wasn't asking for support on the raids I used to run under the same EBJ banner. If anyone wanted to see documentation for the things I did.. all they had to do was ask. The likelihood of me posting religious propaganda or porn links was pretty much nonexistent. The things I used to do were just my personal attempt at trying to keep things fun and, tbh, I had fun doing it though it was a lot of prep work and event days were overwhelmingly hectic.
As someone that spent a lot of hours putting things together, pretty much by myself (with rare exception), it felt like I was struggling along to do something that kept people interested in their game and they couldn't be bother to pitch in just via an announcement.. but that's water under the bridge. I only brought it up to explain why I'm not quite interested in taking on that type of role on some official basis.
I know you have no way of knowing but I'm a she lol.. Anyway, I think the bigger problem is lack of time. Genele responded to me in [this] thread and it sounded as if she was saying she doesn't have time to work with much of anyone on a regular Q&A type thing at this time. So... putting me or anyone else in a 'player advocate or liaison type role would be pointless if they have no one to get answers from on the dev team. We already had 'your voice' where they went 2 or 3 months gathering questions and we got one instance of answers before the whole thing was shut down.
Funcom don't need someone to communicate with the community on their behalf because there's nothing to say really. Just look at the summary of development updates in the past 12 months:
July 2013 - starts off with some well deserved time off for genele and crew, followed by promises of social clothes, itemshop stuff to earn fc more $$ and a mandatory sentence about how the engine is progressing nicely
September 2013 - holiday stuff, promises about changed whompahs and the mandatory sentence about the engine progressing nicely
November 2013 - uh oh, hiccups with the engine progress and more promises of what's to come with 18.7. Michizure was fixing random bugs and wrapping christmas presents.
November 2013#2 - mandatory "engine is looking good!" post with (semi)fake promises of 1 year subscribers getting beta access, I know several who didn't. Merry Christmas ripoff!
December 2013 - vacation time and promises of new content in 18.6 - remains to be seen.
January 2014 -"things are progressing nicely". Announced a few random profession changes. More holiday stuff in the $$ store.
February 2014 - back from vacation. "Fairly extensive list of system changes" - only 4 of them actually listed. More profession changes, some seemingly random and left unexplained by funcom. Grid armor nerf (did it go live, does anyone except froobs care?)
April 2014 - "Battlestations have been reworked", read: rolled back to before the invisible walls were put in place. Teleporters will have a 10s lockout to prevent people from easily escaping, although I don't know how it's possible to chase someone if you are locked from teleporting after them. Real issues with the battlestation remain untouched. Selling items will become easier with ctrl+click, ironically a very important improvement in an economy so inflated a player would need to sell a few million shop food items to make a difference. All coming with 18.7 of course. The infamous broken clon**** zone border is fixed according to fc, not yet ingame though. Not much done because vacation again.
April 2014#2 - promises of a new inferno missions, simplified old missions because running is annoying! Holiday content will spawn automatically.
June 2014 - exploit awareness! DM has been fixed (read: removed) internally. More inexplicable random profession changes, MAs apparently becoming CH tanks.
Nothing in game yet and still no real preview of the "rebalance" changes.
We'll have to agree to disagree. There are a lot of questions that get posted in every monthly update, many of which have yet to get clear answers. I've managed to get some answers via the grapefine or unofficial means that can't be mentioned on the forums. Oddly enough, in over half the cases, the complete story would actually paint the dev crew in a better light.. just for some reason they don't answer us. Maybe it is indeed time as Genele stated though I think they could really use someone going over the monthly updates before they post them, asking the relevant questions that players are bound to ask and getting those answers inserted before they get posted.
But whatever
Don't think I've encountered you in game but you're very entertaining to read on the forums.
