Why do you still play AO?

I like the setting on RK and enjoy a few of the professions. I enjoy finding odd or rare items, reading the descriptions of items too for that matter. In short, I like the setting. I would LOVE the setting if you could rip SL back out of the game.

Yeah I love RK too, the whole 'cyberpunk' theme really interested me when I first started playing, It was my first MMO.

I find it hard to let go of AO because of the nostalgia of it all, certain professions such as the Trader are really interesting and unique!

But alas, my account goes cold today and I don't think I'm going to re-sub, I've been using AO more as a glorified, expensive chat program.
Everything seems stale, I really only played for the PvP and even that has become boring, it's the same daily routine, NW is dead, BS is zerg fest after zerg fest (on both sides).

I've had alot of fun playing AO over the years with you guys and for the people who know me, I'll miss you all ( ;(!! ) big loves to my bros in Devil Inside, my omni lover for life Momento <3 (ily), Humlebien/Belzabeth/Trollbait/Seoin/Bubbacrush for the awesome chats.
My enemies too for making pvp fun! <3

It was an escape when I needed one. It provided me a family where I had none. It was validation when I needed some.

After my first break it was never the same, no matter how badly I wanted it to be.

I don't play anymore.

If you don't, what do you play now?

Husband, expecting father, grad student. The learning curve is immensely steeper, and the drops are fantastic. Still broke, tho.

Ugh. Where to start.

Short version: I have no other option.

I've been elsewhere and tried other games. They either lack depth, aren't sci-fi, feel a bit too "on rails", don't have a very steep learning curve, are restricted to space without planetside/groundside content, or I feel like I've seen all there is to see and learn all there is to learn within 5 months of playing.

That's not to say AO doesn't have flaws. But while I still have a few of those other games installed for the things they do well, the number of those things is less than the things I like about AO. I've repeatedly tried to find a replacement and failed. Until someone comes up with AO2 or something more akin to pre-NGE SWG, I don't exactly have anywhere else to go.
