Thread: Borealis Story Summary

    Borealis Story Summary

Since there's not a lot of info on the ARK Events Ongoing Stories thread, I thought I'd make a counterpart for collecting what we've learned and speculations on what will happen.

This is pretty much a copy/paste from the Lumen Orien Forums.

The one issue is that roleplayers involved in ARK stories tend to keep quiet about it so research isn't always easy. So please if you find yourself involved, or learn something not in this summary, tell everyone here so that I can keep the information up to date and keep everyone informed.

    FROM GENELE

"We are also coordinating with ARK to run events and to challenge Omni-Tek’s presence in Borealis... conflict will fill the streets of Borealis during the anniversary events, resulting in a change in the balance of power."

"A unique set of events will take place in Borealis during our birthday celebrations, so make sure you don't miss them! 2 weeks after the 27th of June we will patch the servers with changes to Borealis."

    SO FAR (just facts)

EVENTS CHARACTERS (bold = ingame nick)

    • Bahirae Serugiusu - OTAF second-in-command (both names used)
    • Hephas Vrej Derringer - Leader of the Borealis Freedom Fighters (confirmed) DECEASED
    • BFF Officer Jill Naikant
    • Aneta Riahan - Omni-Pol officer
    • Cpt Jonothan Townsend - OTAF officer
    • Ivan Sergeyich - Former head of Omni-Pol
    • Eva Pourais - Director of Omni-Reform
    • MAX - an android representative of Omni-InternOps
    • Ruth Montezuma - Leader of the clan New Dawn, previously in hiding
    • Xeavier Humbold - de facto leader of New Dawn DECEASED
    • Lt Gen Robert Rosuma - OTAF commander DECEASED
    • Jessica Lonare - Administrator of Borealis DECEASED
    • Tarkhan Zora - CEO of OTRK DECEASED

    INTERESTING STORY POINTS

    • It seems that Bahirae (OTAF's now second-in-command) is involved. Humbold was killed after she asked for volunteers for a special mission.
    • Agentcora suggested here that the Omni-Pol org actually carried out the assassination for Bahirae off-the-books.
    • People are speculating on why Humbold was killed. Normally he's quite friendly with OT. The best guess seems to be he knew something about OT's plans in Borealis.
    • At the interview and subsequent events, Hephas and Naikant repeated the phrase "Borealis is Fighting". Seems to be something of a slogan.
    • According to the ARK Events ongoing stories post, Lt Gen Robert Rosuma has apparently been talking about a militant clan called the Obsidian Army, though it's not clear how they are related.
      - Seems the Obsidian Army made an appearance after the dish explosion and may have claimed responsibility. Though other people are saying it was an accident.
    • Supposedly the riot-specialists all look the same. (? Not at all confirmed.)

    WHERE FROM HERE?

Event at 19:45 GMT in ICC

OT players are picking sides, either hunting down Omni-Pol, or working against their own CEO... In some cases possibly both?

The Omni-Pol org is requesting help from pretty much anyone.

Neutrals are assisting the BFF and preparing for a big fight against OTAF. Done... not sure what Neuts are up to now.

Not sure what clanners are up to.

    SPECULATIONS

All signs point to Borealis becoming a war zone during the anniversary weeks and then changing faction to either neutral or clan. It's more likely to be neutral, but we don't know yet how the Sentinels are involved with Humbold's death.

There's some plot that links the dish to Humold's death. The Sentinels and Bahirae know what's going on.

The name "Damocles Array" implies either impending doom hanging above the city, a weapon, or both. People have speculated in the past that the dish was being made into a weapon. Seems reasonable now. CONFIRMED

The Obsidian Army caused the dish explosion? If so they've kept pretty quiet. On the other hand, everyone else seems to have forgotten about the object that was buried under the dish that's mentioned in the ARK Events thread... I can't seem to find any other reference to it. Word of god is it was not alien.

    Agentcora's perspective:

During the modification of the Dish, a member of the New Dawn named Suestar was present, and was later detained by myself and other Omni-Pol Officers. Upon informing Bahirae that we captured a Clan spy, Bahirae arrived where Suestar then identified her as "The Obsidian One". Bahirae immediately killed Suestar, and ordered everyone present to forget it happened. Naturally, i contacted Omni-Tek Internal Operations and informed them of the possible link between Bahirae and the Obsidian Army.

Now for yesterdays event we saw this: Zora, Rosuma and Lonare arrived and were shown to an exact spot by Bahirae, this spot later exploded from a coolant malfunction, killing all nearby. Immediately after the explosion members of the Obsidian Army arrived, and Bahirae and all AF-Riot Specialists (who all look like Bahirae) evacuated, abanonding their post and all the employees present.

Next, we see Bahirae take control of Omni-AF and Omni-Pol.

From an Omni perspective this looks like Bahirae is in the Obsidian Army and is taking control of Omni-Tek on Rubi-Ka. So now Omni-Pol, under orders of Omni-InternOps will be attempting an arrest during tommorows speech.

    Lliers' commentary/speculations:

In addition to whatever havoc Bahirae Serugiusu plans to wreak on Clans/Neutrals/Borealis/Rubi-Ka, this is shaping up to include significant internal turmoil within Omni-Tek.
Sentinels still completely silent. Now we add New Dawn to the mix. No idea if New Dawn were actually to blame for the explosion or just being made a scapegoat. Though Bahirae Serugiusu is being accused of being a warmonger by former/deceased Omni-Pol officer, it was Tarkhan Zora that originally approved the deployment of the Damocles device and was the one who ordered the targeting of Tir. Is Bahirae Serugiusu just seizing the opportunity to snatch power and start the war she's always wanted or was she informed and part of the larger plan from the beginning?

Special thanks to Lliers and Agentcora

    Good list.

One thing though. Has Alossas interview with Derringer been published anywhere yet? It was rather interesting. Also the talks that went on after the actual interview was over (Sorry Alossa for barging in

I sent the interview to the Events team for publication on Editor News, can't really say when it'll be published. I posted a "work in progress" copy on our org's website here, if you'd like to see a preview. The Editor News published version might be slightly different.

Good idea about the logs, I'll see if I can dig them up. The stuff before the interview was interesting too

EDIT: The logs from the interview and the conversation afterwards can be found here.

Red, you may want to add that last night a strange weather formation formed around Borealis moments prior to the Damocles Array appearing and scanning citizens, before shooting off to Bliss.

Really? Isn't the Damocles array in a high orbit around 25,000 miles away? What's it doing in Bor? ... Or Bliss?

Ok that doesnt really make any sense.

As far as I understood from previous posts, the Damocles array was already in a geosynchronous orbit above Bor. How can it suddenly "appear" if it is already there? And how can it "shoot off to Bliss" afterwards? Not so geosynced after all?

  13. #13
The Damocles Array used thrusters post launch to reposition itself in geosyncronous orbit above Borealis, yes. But:

    1) Who's to say it can't then re-enter orbit?
    2) Who's to say there's only 1?
    3) Don't trust everything the OTPC reports.

We know nothing about the Damocles array and it's abilities.

I just thought the satelitte would be both trackable and possibly even visible from earth. If its suposed to be in geo orbit it should be relatively easy to check if anything is actually at that location.

But if its all part of the plotline ill go along with it.

Damocles of Greek mythology was a weasel of a bureaucrat who served in the court of King Dionysus. Dionysus offered Damocles the opportunity to sit on the throne to shut up his incessant kissing up, with the condition that a sword would be hung over Damocles head by a single horse's hair. Damocles took the throne, but eventually begged Dionysus to be excused because the stress of the sword over his head was too much to bear.

Presumably the Damocles device is meant to refer to the sword (not the weasel), and we now know exactly what it's intended for. It was supposed to be the sword hanging over all our RubiKan heads. Now... what I'm unclear on what the alien general has to do with any of this? I missed the details and could only get reports from orgmates who managed to zone into Bore. Did the aliens notice the device and just happened to drop by to steal or smash it and it was all sheer coincidence? Or was their presence something Omni-Tek expected/intended when the device was activated?

As for the sheer coincidence of the failure of the device precisely at the moment of it's initial activation... I find it hard to believe that it was totally accidental.

I am not sure how it links in with the rest of the story, but you have not mentioned the Kyr'ozch invasion force that targeted the dish shortly after the explosion. It could of course just have been a "reward" for the masses, but the specially named adds and the boss sitting at the bottom of the dish suggests its somehow tied in.

  20. #20
I think they detected the explosion at the dish, saw all the chaos and then took their chance while Omni-Tek was in chaos to finally destroy the Dish - which they've been tirelessly trying to do for some time now.

That or the artifact they managed to bury underneath it did something.
