Thread: Unintended ToTW consequence

    Unintended ToTW consequence

There is a new unintended consequence to the new change such that mobs in ToTW run back to their original positions:

Because people can now train with impunity, many people run all the way into Azzy's room from the entrance. The unintended result is that a few important mobs are trained but then become stuck in the geometry trying to run back to their spawn points.

If the stuck mob is a cultist, then most people are happy since that's that many fewer mobs to deal with, but the last 2 out of 3 times I brought org mates into ToTW to get GCB or farm GTA, GoT was stuck in the wall between its room and Rev. Hyuan's room running in place. (This last time Rev. Hyuan was also stuck in geometry in the wall between his room and Doorkeeper's room.)

In general, people might think that not having to deal with GoT, in order to get to Azzy room, is a good thing, but GCB is a pretty standard and desirable belt and there are still plenty of people interested in and willing to farm for GTA (for social or whatnot). Also with the increased temple activity every faithful, acolyte, reverend, windcaller, exarch that is stuck in geometry means more time waiting for respawns to complete daily missions.

Is there some logic (especially for special mobs) that says, "if running in place for more than 5 minutes, then warp me back to my spawn point" that can be added to these key mobs?

    Thank you,
    Froobalicious General of Barador Arin.

This is also a problem in Crypt of Home, and probably in other dungeons as well. WTB a fix.

Also please increase the distance from spawn point of mobs to a point where they stop fighting and start to run back to their spot (healing very fast on the way).

It is especially frustrating in Dark Ruins where it is common strategy to train/root spawned adds and then kill them 1 by 1. It is very stupid to see a mob that is almost dead that suddenly starts to run away and heals to full HP very fast.

This is common to a lot of dungeons. Mobs I have seen stuck:

    - Abmouth in subway
    - GOT in ToTW and various other mobs in the same dungeon
    - various mobs in smugglers den

Petitioning will help as a GM will have them reset for you. Of course, this gets annoying in the long run.

Trains made these places fun. Another horrible change to sanitize AO.

Happens a lot in s10 as well, resulting in several mobspawns being locked.

If you let Michi know about which mobs are being stuck, probably through a PM or on test server, then he should be able to adjust them. Hopefully he will just see this thread though When I was testing the first "no train" changes the mobs were acting funny then but Michi worked a lot of those problems out.

I think the primary issue is with any mobs with unique names (GoT, Reverend XYZ, ...). I'm pretty sure nobody cares that cultists are stuck running in place. That being said, I, personally, don't really care that any other mob other than GoT gets fixed. There should be enough reverends around somewhere so that the daily mission can be completed. The inability to get a GCB for someone after escorting them all the way down there is frustrating.

yup S10 is really badly bugged, last time I was in there I think about 40% of the mobs were not targetable/killable.

Mostly I think it's because of people that pull a cluster of aliens and try to shake the special mobs that don't drop relays by bugging the mobs.

Funny at times when in the middle of the pf there's a lot of special mobs and 5-7 people fighting over the 5 regular aliens that keep popping.

    I hear that.

I just find it so ridiculous though because the spawns are random. You don't get special alien 1 --> special alien 1 --> special alien 1

you get special alien 1 --> regular alien --> special alien 2 etc.

So if you don't kill the special ones you just end up limiting the pool of potential spawns until you're stuck with a ****load of bugged mobs and zero regular aliens.

That was in fact exactly what I found last time I was in S10. in mid there was not 1 regular alien, about 12 specials and about 10 special aliens that were bugged.

We're investigating a good overall solution to this issue, but in the meantime, I'll just modify specific NPCs with shorter leashes to keep them from getting stuck so easily, while periodically clearing out bugged mobs in S10.

If you have the time, would you investigate why iPande mobs are so scared of following tanks around? With the last update they became quite skittish.

Although it is funny to see them slingshot around the PF.

Pande mobs should follow you for 80m before getting bored with you and run home.

Does this also apply to mobs under attack and/or taunted continuously or they should keep following me?

Yes it does. If you aggro a mob and have it chase you as a result, it will reach 80m, turn around, and run home.

Thank you for your hard work Michi!

On a side note: If you find/decide you need to petitioned these mobs I found it useful to do a shift+F9 for the extended location info and add it to the petition, rather than saying "Got is not attackable. Unstick him".

With the very long wait times on Pets, this information is great for a GM to go in and find the stuck mob. It gives all the info they should need if you happen to be offline. I only had 1 GM send me "Im sorry you werent here, so you'll have to repetition this", out of the numerous ones I have done. All were fixed by the time I relogged in.

I give props to FC and all the Devs who are working so hard to make us happy and fix issues. <3
