Servers down again?

I thought there was a server status? its up on the top of the forums. or do you mean like a page that shows like a green light is running..red light its down?

A actual webpage like most MMO's have. With the live online status of servers.

Maybe colours like ->
Green = Up and functioning well
Orange = Up but having lag/major load
Red = Dead server

Take your pick, which would you like them to do first?
Get the server back up and sorted as quick as possible so we can go about our dailies and gank fests in bor?
Or log onto a completely different system, probably in a completely different office and write us a letter?

Yes, ok, some note of what is going on would be nice, but I'd rather be in the dark about it and get it fixed than know all about the ins and outs of what's going tits up and not get it fixed...

By the way, do you think Vhab runs the server room? Do you think any GM runs the server room? How about the ARKs?
No, the server room will be run by tech guys that have little or nothing to do with AO.

Right now, those Devs that are on call will be looking into this to see if it's a code thing, and the server techs will be looking into it to see if it's a server problem...

The GMs/Devs/ARKs aren't going to know what the techs are doing because they're not going to be on the phone giving the GMs a blow by blow...



Leave them to it, and let them get on with it, and then hopefully after the server is back up we'll get some notification of what nerfed up.

IT'S BORKED! THE SERVER IS BORKED!!!

a few years ago we had a 3rd party tool to check servers status, but just a link somewhere on launcher + FC website would be great.

There's not a great deal more it CAN say... At the moment they're working on it, do any of us expect a message saying:

I never said that. However it took an hour to actually have an official not of 'issues and looking into it'
I respect the team working on the game, I am just saying some communication extra might not hurt (do read it is a suggestion).
Next to that a dedicated server online page could be automatically showing changes in status, without anyone having at FC having to update the status manually. This way if things go down, you will know about it and you can report it so i can be fixed.

It is merely a tool to help the community and the team working on the game
Next to that I doubt there aren't systems monitoring the server status already for the tech team.

If you're just talking about a simple 'It's up' or 'It's down', then that's probably doable.
But the problem is, like now, it being 'up' doesn't take into account horrid lag problems, or, remember, there's not just ONE server... There's actually several servers (including I'm told virtual ones (ie. the chat server)).
So it would have to be a string of ON/OFF lights...

Chat server DOWN
Old Athen UP
Borialis UP
Rome DOWN (sorry omni, couldn't resist it )

And so on...

Most likely yes.
And about On/Off -> heavy load should be pretty possible too, since I guess the connection or serverload itself grow too big due to some issue (whatever it is or will be) and be shown on the list as well. But even On/Off would be a nice feature.

I'd expect somewhat grown up people being able to troubleshoot this on their own without some silly tool needed.

Failure has an overtone of finality about it. The fact that AO is still around(tm) argues against this.
I remember the time they replaced the login servers... (flashback) Weren't the servers down for a lot longer? That totally sucked.

banning peeps from forum won't change anything, we're paying customers and we only got that forum to talk about our frustration as we CAN'T play...
some players can only play on week ends... and week ends like this one weren't really good ones...

except some messages from ARKs/moderators, we only got a short apology message from vhab, and have no real idea of what's going on, or when we can expect game back.

now, good luck on fixing problems, but stop shooting on your customers !
