First off let me add what I didn't earlier:

I have found Dnet to be amazingly useful on RK1. I greatly appreciate the time that goes in to keeping it up and running. Neutnet also seems to be great so far.

What I don't want to see is some people using dnet, some people using neutnet, and most people using both. As someone who is selling an item, or trying to run a raid, I would have to spam both of them to maximize my visibility. As someone looking for a raid, or an item, I would have to watch both of them (and duplicate spam) to maximize my ends.

In the end, everyone will have to spam twice as much, and look at twice as much spam to accomplish the same thing we did on our respective servers before the merge.

Bans and the like, justified, or not, is somewhat irrelevant to the above point. Yes it sucks you got banned... you may have deserved it... you may have not deserved it. People can douchebags, admin or user, and in my experience there is a proportionally equal number in both groups. Personally, I feel that it would be a great gesture from the bot owners to lift all (or most) bans on both bots since the merge, to give everyone a "clean slate", especially if the owners decide to merge efforts, or one bot decides to deactivate.

Regardless of what happens, I would like to thank you again for giving us Dnet, I couldn't imagine playing this game without it (and I mean that quite literally).

Can't talk for Dnet...but all bans and such were wiped with merge on Neutnet

Really all there needs to be is a spam channel seperated from general.

That way people can post song lyrics and fake Remains of... without fear of a ban.

Everyone who doesnt like seeing that sort of stuff can deregister from spam.

Problem with that is people post EULA violations which can and has got the bots banned by funcom themselves. I believe that also happened to Neutnet years ago before moderation/filtering was increased.

Same, all user data was wiped. Although I dont think there was many bans to speak of anyways

I got banned once on Dnet for innocently selling a piece of AI armour. One of the admins made a bid, which was politely rejected, and he banned me for disrespecting administration.

I think I remember you mentioning this in the old thread and I investigated it, what was the result of that?

I have looked into pretty much every complaint about admin abuse on the forum thread and have found very little if any of it and generally respond in the thread as well. Some bans are removed/reduced but I haven't seen the much hyped "he banned me because he hates me"

Dnet is back online!

A ton of underlying code was changed with very little testing so I almost expect something to break, but it is online!

And now I can change/add commands without destroying other commands.

Fixed a error with the socket timeout not getting set, back online for now.

It seems I really need someone to take over responsibility for moderating Dnet, I haven't played this game in years and have no drive to maintain Dnet beyond keeping the bots running.

The position isn't so much to moderate chat, but to moderate admins. Currently there is only 1 admin actively moderating chat and it is simply unacceptable.

What you will have to do
- Add new admins
- Investigate admin abuse complaints
- Remove abusive/inactive admins
- Message me if Dnet goes down or something serious happens

Requirements
- I would prefer to know the person who does this, but that may be a rather small group at this point
- Willingness to actually fill the role
- Not a douche
- Ability to overcome conflict of interest ( I have banned people I know more then a few times )
- Have a thick skin ( If your not getting death threats, your doing something wrong )

So, Dnet will be down for a few days

The server started having heart attacks thanks to a Windows update, then the suggested fix to solve said heart attacks scrambled its brain.

Will have to write a program to rebuild members list based on friends list. I could retrieve the database from the hard drive, but this seems easier.

Well after 3 years of hosting Dnet and around 2 of that not even playing Anarchy Online anymore, it is time for me to stop hosting/maintaining.

Hosting and source of Dnet will be transferred over to Delamure and others from Devil Inside

Having lost touch with the game for so long I know few remaining people that I would be up for hosting dnet for a reasonably long period reliably.

I am hoping that the bot will stay true to its purpose of being a less censored/strict way of contacting others than other mass messaging bots.

AO was fun while it lasted, but time for me to stop having to check in now and again. Later o/

PS.

If anyone plays EVE Online, my chars are Maxisabe/Clento Loso. I can always use more spies in other corps or pew opportunities

I have an issue with Dnet as it keeps filling my inbox with Shopping messages, while offline. Neutnet doesn't do that.

Anyone else with this issue? I now have a macro to turn messaging on / off on login/logout, but that's just going around the problem.
