Intro to AO rp?

I promise this thread was not intended to flame, but as a "fair weather" RPer I have noticed that the story and key RP knowledge is difficult to follow in AO.

I have read the official forums and performed a number of searches on the forums and have ended up with a severely disjointed and very incomplete understanding of key events and characters.

where would you recommend a newbie RPer to read and learn the information required to actively participate (as I feel that this aspect of the game is more difficult for newbies than the other aspects). I can always shout in org to find a good spot to level at 76 but nobody seems to know where to start with RP

Sorry if the info I seek is already out there but I feel the RP community would benefit greatly from a better access point for newcomers.

Trousers has been working like a nutcase to get all that information up on the forums, and it's certainly an interesting read.

As for the official story, everyone gets confused about it sometimes, given the age of AO and how much has been altered, changed and added since the original concept. To get a rough outline of how things work though, joining the IRC is a good idea if you can manage to grab someone there who's willing to explain it to you.

Other than that, you can rely on the in-game channels on each dimension catering to roleplay. You've got Channel42 on Atlantean, which you can join like you would any other bot: /tell channel42 !join

(It's in-character chat mind you, and no OOC chat goes on there, but you can see what roleplayers are online and send them a tell explaining that you're new)

There's also my bot that I had running for a bit, Network. It acted as the OOC counterpart for Channel42, so you could easily just ask about any RP there freely. Unfortunately I took it down a while back, but it looks like I might have the resources available to launch it again, so be sure to check if it's online if you're on Atlantean. If it's online and you can't get access, you can always pop me a forum PM and I'll sort it out for you.

If you're one of the Rimorians, I'm not sure what in-game channels they use. You'll have to ask Trousers for that.

As for Rimor roleplayer, currently the RPChat is in use. Its mostly OOC, because NRPB was IC. I rarely used NRPB for IC reasons, so I kept it mostly to vicinity when IC. I am not sure if NRPB even runs anymore.

From a GMT point of view i'd say no, I only ever see myself and Dagget in there. Although i do admit my playtime isn't that high these days...
