4.4 billion, non-recycling - I guess the devs back then figured, as with that SL XP thing, that the game just wouldn't last long enough to use them all up.
It's probably not going to be fun to add more/fix things, obviously deleting the tables really isn't an option (knowing the older coders that could remove all Leets from the world or something).
You got yourself a bit of a pickel, I don't envy you as you try to fix it. Good luck.

AO already hit that integer overflow issue several years ago with character IDs. Game itself handled "too big" numbers OK as far as I can remember but things like trying to petition a name change with a new character and "People of Rubi-Ka" on the website did not. Chat bots had a bad time then as well.
Why not just modify the database tables, use 64bit integers instead? Buys you much more than a couple weeks... Then again maybe the issue lies somewhere else so I better shut up before Means makes me fix it... Good luck keeping the world from exploding!
