An emblem for Newland

Dear Citizens of Newland,
Our city is prospering and the future looks very bright for us. Thus my office has to decided to create a competition to celebrate our beautiful city.
What we want is every able artist to create an emblem for Newland City. It does not have to be very elaborate, but it should be distinctive. A symbol of our independence and our way of life.
Once we have some artworks sent to the office we will choose the one we feel best fits our city.

If you feel you are up to this task please send your work to my office via gridnet.

(( OOC: The artist we choose will need to sign a release waiver stating that they agree to have their work displayed in-game. Docaholic recently signed the same form for his icon work, and any other contributors will have to do the same. As a reward, though, your new symbol will be seen in-game and made available on new items incoming to Anarchy Online. =)

We also ask that you please submit all entries as a static jpg/png/gif image, retaining your work files for later - If we choose your entry, we will ask for the work files as to ensure we have the highest quality copy of the image for use in-game.

Lucetta Phoenix looks over her photographs taken earlier that day. Pleased with her work, she submits the work digitally to Mayor Zephrem King's office, along with a brief description of her idea.

"The image portrays the bold satellite dish with the two iconic Rubi-Kan suns in the background. The dish represents Newland's independence in contrast to Borealis and the unfortunate situation with the dish at that location. The dish also represents a beacon of hope and freedom, and is possibly the most stand-out landmark in the city. I hope you like it.

She hits her head to the pad and let's out a long sad sigh.

"Not gonna work... Not at all..."

"Hmm, this'll have to do I reckon. By 'Ka I'm not sure I shoulder enter this...Oh well nothing ventured, nothing gained."

Lasliana attaches the image to a message and sends it to Mayor Toog's office.

The attached image is my entry.
The arrows pointing in the four directions represent how the city trades in every direction. The shield represents the fact that the city is a bastion of freedom, and the cross how people of all factions cross paths in Newland, as its a place where all are free to visit.

The picture I made, presents the beauty of Newland. Newland is a independent city, with bad times as good times aswell. But after time, like flowers, Newland will bloom again. No matter how hardly the wind shakes the flower, it will survive way or another, and show it's beauty, giving home for many smaller ones, that need it's shelter.
I hope that you find the right one, that truly presents Newland.

Caith taps on the interface, hoping to encourage it to work properly. The delicate chime finally confirms that the file was successfully attached to the message. She nods with satisfaction and runs the encryption to transfer the file through the grid.

"I hope his secretary checks the messages regularly."

She considers the question for a moment, then shrugs it off and sends the file to the Mayor's office. She stands up, then stops.

"...I hope he has a secretary."

The real power? *cough*.. yeah, sure if that makes you sleep better at night. Luckily your commanders understand the power structure in the City of Newland, and proper protocol's set forth by your own Board of Directors a bit better than it appears you do Officer.

The Emblem was inspired by the unique nature of Newland area and Rubi-Ka's primary sun Animus which both represent Newland's essence in the terraformed north, having a warm-to-hot micro-climate through the year and serving as the capital city and flowering oasis of civilization between wastelands of Mort and dense, inhospitable jungles of Varmint.
