Hmm.. How do I put this?

I have been camping TK for the last 3 weeks straight, nearly everynight around the same times. I have gotten lucky a few times and actually been close to getting the kill solo only to have it pulled from me by a clan or omni team...

Tonight, I logged in after work and found myself with only a few people there to compete with including a lvl 200 MP with Demon. TK spawned within minutes and we all attacked.

I pulled agro and outdamaged the group with a lucky Dimache and managed to finally get the last piece to the Alvin quest!!! Yaaa Me!

I was so very excited to have finally gotten the last part after all of this time that I headed straight to Harry's to see ole Alvin..

Well here is where it gets interesting, I get a tell from this 200 MP asking if I took TK's loot.. I said Yessir,

He proceeds to tell me that I need to come back there and tank theext one for them so they can get loot and that what I did was totally uncalled for????? Next I am getting tells from several others in his guild harassing me as well.

I dont blame them though cause this entire mess is FC's fault for the rediculous amount of camping that has to be done for everything!!! What was a very nice moment for me was totally ruined and the funny part is I dont blame those that ruined it for me.

Anyway.. sorry for the rant but I just couldnt keep it in any longer.


FC.. PLEASE, fix this camping mess... adjust these spawns or spawn multiple mobs in different spots.. anything has got to be better than this.

I don't blame you for what you did. Hell, I had to do it several times myself. But asking you to tank TK for THEM, like you owed them something. And then sending his guildies after you. Yknow, that could actually be considered harrassment (having his guild send you nasty tells).

Yeah, I agree that it's funcom's fault for making him so camped, but I think we've kicked them enough times in the last year and a half that kicking them again just isn't going to help. Long time ago, back when there were no uber items in AO, we begged them to put uber items into the game and cursed them out for not being more like EQ in that regard. Funcom is new to the mmorpg market and to be honest is a bit of a tiny company to embark on such a huge venture. So the camping is sort of a hastily assembled solution to a much bigger problem, which is that of content.

We tell them we want it, and we want it now, they respond by throwing in a unique mob that drops some cool item. I have high hopes that the booster pack really is going to bring some cool things to the table and in the meantime some of the new quests that we're all bumping our heads on is a huge step in the right direction. We have dynamically spawning quest mobs (give letter A to npc B and npc C spawns), MOBs that may SEEM invincible but have some 'trick' to beating them, etc. This is what a quest should be all about. It eliminates the camping aspect by making the mob spawn only for that quest instead of 'popping' at a predetermined time and it really makes us put our heads together and think about the solution to the problem (the trick to killing 'the one' is clever). Maybe NPC A or B even has a clue on how to defeat npc C?

But yes, sloppy quests such as the trash king must go, but if Funcom changes that quest in any way, we're going to lynch them on these forum boards. It's obvious that Funcom is making a huge effort to right the mistakes they made early on, and if we as a community could show a little more patience before we say "it's all Funcom's fault" and maybe offer some more realistic suggestions, then we might arrive at a solution that would be acceptable to both us and them.

But I totally agree with you on what you did. As cruel as it sounds, it's not necessarily the early bird that gets the worm in this game. It's the biggest, fattest, meanest bird. It's not the best way, but you have to do what you have to do. Maybe the 200 mp should consider using a more damaging pet than the demon and nuking a little bit more in between weapon recharges. That's how I've always gotten loot rights at TK

Remember, while FC's implementation of this quest may be horrid, those players should maybe act a bit more mature when they don't gain loot rights. It's not Funcom that made them whining, accusing babies, it's bad rearing. When I was trying to get TK's rack for my little MA (it took me over 20 days. I had 1 hour left on the mission when I got the part), I'd show up there and see a team of lvl 180+ camping him. Never would I demand them to get the part for me or blame them for wanting the part too. We're all in the same boat here and I can't fault them for doing the exact same thing I'd do in their place. Instead, I'd wish them well, offer them buffs to make it easier on them and then I'd leave to try again.

Ask yourself this. Were the situation in reverse, would they have given the loot to YOU? No, of course not. They would have done the exact same thing that you did. Outdamage them and then take loot for themselves. This is no different than real life. Haves and have nots. If you have not, you better figure out a way to have

Care to tell what guild it was? I'm curious if it's the one I think it might be (jerkwads). =P

But gratz on the quest, and I agree- it would be damned difficult to come up with a worse arrangement than we currently have.

BTW- does TK still drop other stuff that high level players want, or has that been removed yet? I was so floored when I found out that, not only does everyone have to kill the TK to complete that quest, but others are encouraged to kill the SAME G.D. MOB to get some nice gear.

I think the only reason trash king is so bad is that it is one of very few quests right now. If there were more quest to do fewer people would be camping trash king all the time.

For an advy who doesnt use aimedshot, there siimply is NO other quest.

The onlyother quest is the jackthelegchopper quest, and he gives Advy's a stupid +20aimed shot ring I will never use.

Thank you all for the kind words... I guess I was kinda tired last night and it really just hurt my feelings that after waiting so long to get that last piece a group of people would treat me like that...

I've been there sooo many times, and there are no way I can outdmg a team there. (134 atm).. :/ please fix the spawn.
