Omni-Tek Hierarchy

Omni-Tek is by far the most complex organization in Anarchy-Online. Due to this I am trying to build a hierarchy that people can reference to understand where different departments fall in relation to other departments both locally and abroad.

Here's my first mark-up which I am still waiting for feedback from ARK on. I realize that I forgot to include Omni-Admin (who can blame me, they're the most boring of all the departments). The Office of the CEO would serve as the Administrative Department on Prime, but just imagine there is an Admin next to Com

How about the Unicorns?

I'm assuming they fall into the "Controlled by Prime, answering to CEO" category as well.

The Unicorns are a part of the Omni-Tek Armed Forces. But much the Same way that the Navy and Marines do not report directly to Rosuma, I believe the same applies to the Unicorns, however, I do need to look into it deeper to be sure.

From what I know the Unicorns are not part of AF, they are an elite combat company deployed directly from omni-1. Basically, a bunch of thugs for the dirty work, not affiliated with any Omni-Tek branch.

BUT

feels strange to me Omni Mining is structured as depicted on that chart.

and not like the regular departments

That's atleast how everything have "felt" during BoD and general LTC /Greenie roleplay etc. (being a part of Omni-Mining(IC) on Atlantean).

Logical to have the structure as depicted: YES!

Depicted that way during actual events/story, Nope.

Yep I belive its been stated (In story explanatory and RP) that they are NOT part of OmniAF in any way and report/act directly on Only Omni-Primes directives. And that LTCs refer to them this way.

The chart depiction of Eng - Mining - R&D was built from the following quote from the then Events Director (Socialfly) in 2005 ...

Omni-Engineering

Omni-Engineering is, by far, the largest department operating on Rubi-Ka. Like Omni-Tek on Rubi-Ka, they're but a cell of a larger, corporation-wide entity that develops Omni-Tek's technology. Omni-Mining and Omni-R&D fall under the direct jurisdiction of Omni-Engineering, though each department operates on its own once orders from Engineering come down. Omni-Engineering assigns tasks to these two departments; R&D for research, and mining for the materials needed to build. Omni-Engineering its self is solely responsible for construction and implementation of R&D's findings via the use of Mining's resources. Omni-Engineering was the first department to begin fully functioning on Rubi-Ka, setting up the first mining operations there and implementing Omni-Med's biological developments to begin the process of terra-forming.

It would seem that "Contractors" like the Unicorns (and Pathfinders), would have a Liason Officer. Who would either be in OTAF or the CEOs office.

To say they're Military but not part of the Military seems a little contradictory. If I were to place them personally, they would be a part of the Omni-AF asset Pool that are deployable by the Joint Chiefs on Omni-Prime.

If you ask ARK about Unicorn they say "ummm we don't know" or "we can't comment".
Unicorn is yet one of those super secret things in AO we'll never really find out about, cause odds are it will just never be developed.

Known Unicorn Info...

July 29 29478 Clan journalists report on encounters with elite Omni Tek forces known as the Unicorn Company. These 'ultimate soldiers' have not been known as being deployed on Rubi-Ka before and rumours soon start as to the possible reasons for their deployment.

August 26 29478 A reporter and advisor from Omni Prime backed up by Unicorn troops question citizens in Borealis on their opinions about Philip Ross.

August 28 29478 Unicorn troops move into Omni-HQ amid rumours that Philip Ross had been placed under house arrest for some as yet unknown reason.

January 08 29479 Rumours start to circulate about the escalation of Unicorn Company activity on Rubi-Ka.

February 09 29479 Omni-Tek issue a security instruction that allows freelance operators to help fight the alien threat in the Outzone. The Unicorn company established a base in one of the old outzone mining facilities and have requested citizens help in fighting the alien threat.

July 08 29479 With Phillip Ross still in a coma after the attack in Omni-One, and with no sign of any improvement in his condition, Omni-Tek announce the appointment of an interim CEO. Tarkhan Zora, the Unicorn liason to the Omni-Prime board of directors will assume control of the companies assests on Rubi-Ka whilst Ross is incapacitated.

May 30 29480 In one very long and eventful day, Omni-Tek's Unicorn Company move into Borealis in an effort to secure the area's vital communication relay to prepare for the arrival of the Goliath class battlestations. The citizens of Borealis immediately organize protests. The very same day, in a shock operation, the CoT member clan Unionists seize control over 4 Holes and manages to hold the facility secure. It is later established that while the Unionists clan acted on their own volition, they were given broad support from the members of the Council of Truth.

June 14 29480 Omni-Tek state that although their deployment of military forces to Borealis was in full compliance with ICC regulations, they will not react with hostility towards members of the clans who visit the city unless fired upon. The heaviest Unicorn forces are moved to the satellite communications disk in the hills outside central Borealis. This move greatly suggests that the protesters made a point with the giant corporation, but this is never confirmed from Omni-Tek Admin.

Just a quick question: Would prisoner transports are being performed by Omni-Trans or Omni-Pol?

A bit of both really Kris. When i arrest someone we have them transported by Omni-Pol transports, it's not unpheasable. However in your case you was off-world so your choice for Omni-Trans would be correct. .. I would think anyway.

Yeah, i came to the same conclusion. If i recall correctly, one of my first imprisons i was captured and transported in a OT Gunship by an member Omni-Trans. I'll leave it as it is, it appears to me that Omni-Pol does have prisoner transport, but it may be that the shuttle was a regular one between the asteroids and rubi-ka.

Some information regarding Omni-Trans:

"The department’s responsibilities include all transportation of Omni-Tek colonists and personnel, and cargo, to and from Rubi-Ka, excluding military and law-enforcement personnel and equipment."

"Omni-Trans is also responsible for all new and departing colonists in transit, including their journey to and from Rubi-Ka, initial briefing or debriefing sessions, integration, and decontamination. Illegal immigration usually falls under Omni-Pol’s umbrella, although stowaways on Omni-Trans vessels are handled by Omni-Trans itself."

So, I would take this to mean that all prisoner transport would be handed by Omni-Pol. Now, this doesn't mean that rules get broken. For example, there was an Event where Omni-Pol was Attacking Omni-2 and Players were being transported (teleported) to Omni-2 via an Omni-Trans ARK. While the event was a whole bunch of fail, it would give the impression that Omni-Trans transports soldiers and Omni-Pol is a military department; both of which would be incorrect.
