Daily missions: Is the XP reward capped at 10%?
I'm just saying.. Lvl 150-205 = 55 levels, at 10% XP that's 550 days for getting yourself to a level that's open to teams in Inferno. That doesn't help the current situation at all.

Please test this armor in sneak to make sure it doesn't give a trailing glow like the shade glow sticks do.

Heya, so I'm poking my head back in after taking a break for a few months. It's nice to see friday with means coming back, was starting to look a bit like an abandoned game when it wasn't updated for several months :/ . I like that you guys finally seem to be getting an idea of what the real problems are and working towards fixing them .
Why have I been taking a break from AO? Simply put... I got bored. I've been playing AO for 2-3 years now and have had some fun along the way, but... things were just starting to feel to grindy. There just is far to little in AO with good rewards that doesn't involve doing the same thing over and over again for hours on end, and often times for several days. I also got really sick of the awfull PvP balance in the game.... Anyway I've been debating about whether or not I'll return, and I think that if you guys actually do something with the following two comments from means then there is a good chance that I and perhaps others will return:
To start off this week let me say this about the "Stims": A few people get some more XP than others...or some pay market value credits for the priviledge. Fine. If this was the biggest issue we had at the moment and was deserving of all this attention and drama...then I think AO would be in fantastic shape. [b] I however am going to take this more as "symptom" of problems within the game...the effort required to level through 200 regular levels, 20 Shadowlevels, 30 Alien levels and 70 lines of personal research is enough that it has become essential to "shortcut" this as much as possible. Making this long leveling issue less painfull is the real issue that needs to be addressed...not these stims. [b] We have been discussing this issue for quite some time...some action will need to be taken in the near future.I'd like to post an idea here that might help PvP be more open to the untwinked player or players that are towards vp so they can stand their own in PvP. Currently BS is divided up by level range and when there's more ppl than can fit in one instance then they just have to wait. What would happen if instead of just using level for matching up BS teams, you also used PvP rank? This way the twinks fight the twinks, the gimps fight the gimps, and everybody is happier. Take a look at Atlantis Online and how their PvP system works. You could do something similar here. Another interesting idea would be some sort of one-on-one duel system similar to BS.The new engine, smoothing out the newbie experience to make the learning curve less scary, running more events, more open/pickup type pvp are all things we are working on to help increase the number of new players who stay with us after trying the game for the first time.
Another plus would be actually getting armor/weapons/nanos while we're leveling. At present to get usable/uber items we have to do one thing and to get xp we have to do another. If both these activities could be combined (with like 10%-20% drop rates for the items) then leveling might be interesting again, instead of boring.
Anyway, catch ya later.

Combine the Newb Mentor program with the daily agent program: vets issuing missions to newbs for which both get rewards. Succesfully run missions increase 'rank' of issuer... maybe give them structure creation rights or design rewards... "SlowRide's Staff of Righteous Indignation", for instance. Elements that affect the gameworld - especially citywide structures, smuggler runs/economies and/or fringe expansion of SL would be both story-reiterating and highly motivating rewards for issuing individuals or groups.
Ultimately you'll want to introduce creation variability and useage degradation into items. This will combat the carrotflation that has imbalanced this game for the past few years. You can still have crazy uber phats but they rot/wear out/explode... skills, maintenance and whim varying. It will inspire tradeskillers and refit the original design of combat classes wherein they had to possess certain tradeskills to use their weapons. Give them a reason and it'll bring an interesting, non-tard, sci-fi element back into this game. With this increased complexity and a new graphics engine a single advertizing run on G4, Wired, or Rolling Stone would x10-x100 our player base.
If FC ever makes our armor/weapons degrade over time, with all seriousness I will leave the game permanently and so will many others. It's hard work to twink on equipment, but that hard work and complexity is part of what sets AO apart from other mmos. Just wash that idea of item degredation out of your mind. If your not convinced of how painful such a system can get, just go try Wurm.

Profession Specific Mission Idea:
Traders: Traders are sent on a mission where they must assassinate three or four specific people/monsters to gather parts which can be tradeskilled into an item (low to moderate tradeskill reqs dependent on Level of player). That item must then be taken to a specific person and "sold" in exchange for some vital piece of information. The information is brought back to the Agency for the quest reward.
Perhaps to up the interest/difficulty of the mission, the player must ONLY kill the specific people in the mission that they have been assigned, and should have to Mezz or Root all other mobs in the mission. Something like this would better use more of the Trader skills and help teach lower level players how to play their character better.
Engineers: Engineers could be sent to repair a recon droid which lost contact with the Agency for some reason. The player would have to kill certain mobs to gather parts which would later be used to repair the recon droid. Once the droid is repaired, the droid begins to follow the Engineer and the player must use his/her Bots to escort the recon droid to safety.
To increase the difficulty of this mission, perhaps on the way back to safety, mobs could try to attack the recon droid and the Engineer would need to use their Bot buffs/heals to better protect the droid while the Bots kill the mobs.

Will these daily quests give out vp? say vp earned = your level x 10
(if this has already been suggested, then my apologies)

"Rumble" was part of a phrase and the context therein used. technically, what FC did with the "Rumble" phrase was very very similar. thus it was a valid issue.
if you dont like "The Grind", then just say so. making up a frivolous [legal] reason just looks silly.
hell, i think its the dumbest name yet for something in game. but its not like it'll be some smash hit that Reet's never could be.
Mission idea: Have a mission given to the player to go to a few various zones throughout RK/SL to feed the server hamsters. On RK it can be those power plant looking things in pretty much every zone, and in SL it can be at the incarnators.
Is all armor modelling done on chars with bewbs? ^D

Don't worry we can explain (and maybe earn another cookie for it )
Version numbers are nothing more then a way for developers to track what was added when. Now some follow a bit more of a "standards" type thing but really the person who writes the code can change the version number however they want. There was one game that started at Version 0.0 and worked it's way to Version -1.0 just cause they thought they were funny
But basically, the standard idea is MajorBuild.MinorBuild.
A build is basically when you compile and release the code (not to be confused with just compiling the code for internal testing) though the terminology may differ from programmer to programmer you get the gist of it.
So 18.1 was still V18 in that nothing big has changed since it became 18 from 17 but small things have been added here and there and that was .1, more stuff being added without the release of .1 would mean that it does become .2 because version numbering has nothing to do with whats released but what the programmer deems as "a finished version" so if 18.1 content was all planned out anything after that would be 18.2 and because 18.1 wasn't released yet it gets tacked onto .2 and released with it. (What makes a change big or small is also determined by the programmer)
In all technicality the stuff isn't being added to 18.2 it's just being released at the same time and the update is called 18.2 because it's the highest number.
Hope that makes some sense. (And before people jump on me again as much fun as being the bottom is... I have said that this differs from programmer to programmer so some of this may be "wrong" to you.)
So, about the cookies...

Mission XP rewards are capped at 20% but was 5% some years back. Mob XP rewards are different and capped at 10%.
I don't care what name they pick but when Means said in a prior FWM the name was not yet selected I said back then already pick something you won't get sued over. The point is to not pick something that could do just that. With a 2009 movie among other such examples by the same exact name it is certainly possible, why risk it over a social venue?
Most BSs already fail to run while the active ones have frequent activity issues. As AO lacks the PvP population add more ways to split things up as you suggest or with more designed PvP content and things will just get worse. Also you need to remember that PvP in AO is balanced to group vs group combat, not duelling. This is why the min number requirements of BSs are in place. As stated in the last Q&A FWM that will not change after the rebalancing. That combined with the low PvP population make adding functional actual PvP content to AO at this time difficult at best.

First impression of the armor is that it reminds of Halo armor, for better or worse. I'm not Halo player, nor do I even own a console btw.
