OOC: Events - Player Meeting '09

First of all, sorry for the short notice, this would have been posted earlier however there was some issues I wanted to try and get sorted first.

This years Events - Player meeting will be a bit different.

First of all the events team has prepared some questions that will be posted below, it is asked that people read through them and organize some answers for the meeting.

Secondly we ask any players that wish to ask a question submit it before hand, either by posting the question in response to this thread or emailing it to us at events-feedback@ark.anarchy-online.com.

We will try to answer all questions submitted even if the person submitting does not attend the meeting.
Logs will be posted after the meeting.

The atlantean meeting will be held on friday the 14th at 18:00 GMT at the ICC meeting hall and is aimed to be 1 hour long (although this target is almost never acheived...)

The meeting will run as follows:

    1. Player answers to events questions
    2. Events answers to player questions
    And if time
    3. Any extra questions that were not submitted before hand
    4. General comments and discussion.

    Events Questions:

    * Would you like to see more or fewer alien spawn events?
    * Would you like to see more or fewer PvP oriented events?
    * Do you feel it's easy to interact with our STs? (STs being the characters in events or the "Storytellers")
    * What do you think about the number of events that you participate in / hear of?

    * What do you think about the quality of our articles?
    * How did you like the Who is Omni-Tek series?
    * What would make you decide to participate in the RSS system and submit articles?

    * Do you have any suggestions for characters that we could develop into a Long Term Character?
    * What kind of character would you like to see more of in the game? Small and unimportant, funny and entertaining, brave and heroic, etc

    * What would you change in the way we do the CoT? And how?
    * What would you change in the way we do the OAM? And how?
    * What would you change in the way we do the NLC? And how?

    * How could the events team better reach new players?
    * What can be done to get old player to RP more?
    * Would you like to have a Specialised OOC meeting for CoT/OAM/NLCC each?

Not sure if I'm going to be at the meeting, but I'd like to put my 2$ worth in on some of the questions.....

    Events Questions:

    * Would you like to see more or fewer alien spawn events?
Yes.... alien spawns in game cities are always interesting events.....

    * Would you like to see more or fewer PvP oriented events?
    n/a

    * Do you feel it's easy to interact with our STs?
(not sure what they are.... LTCs?)

    * What do you think about the number of events that you participate in / hear of?
Good... although I only hear about them 3rd hand, and by the time I usually get there, they are over. (It would be nice if there were some kind of "RP" system announcement)

    * What do you think about the quality of our articles?
Editor news is good... It helps advance the story-line..... just too few and too far between articles.

    * How did you like the Who is Omni-Tek series?
They were very good.... It gives up some background on who is running the different departments.

    * What would make you decide to participate in the RSS system and submit articles?
Well..... this is a touchy subject for me. I am a RSS reporter, but I stopped submitting articles due to the length of time it takes to get them published... most of the time it's 2-3 months after the event in the article has happened and thus no longer relevant........

    * Do you have any suggestions for characters that we could develop into a Long Term Character?
Just utilize the ones you have more.... Unless you're a member of Channel42 chatbot, we have no idea when LTC's are online.....

    * What kind of character would you like to see more of in the game? Small and unimportant, funny and entertaining, brave and heroic, etc
All 3..... interacting with LTC's does not have to be earth-shattering events.... just has to be SOMETHING.....

    * What would you change in the way we do the CoT? And how?
    n/a Omni
    * What would you change in the way we do the OAM? And how?
    1. Move to the smaller meeting room when we have low turn-out.
    2. Give us something to do (even small things like.... reporting on Rita's make-up budget... )

    * What would you change in the way we do the NLC? And how?
    n/a Omni

    * How could the events team better reach new players?
Change the LTC's back to Green.... new players (hell, even some old players) get confused with blue names... is it a LTC or is it a Quest Giver.... BRING BACK THE GREENIES !!!!!

    * What can be done to get old player to RP more?
That's a hard one..... It would have to be a really interesting event to bring back some of the older rp players.... most have just given up due to lack of interest....

    * Would you like to have a Specialized OOC meeting for CoT/OAM/NLCC each?
I think these would be great.... it would give the events team some idea of where each faction wants to go.... what direction the storyline could move with regards to that faction....

So... these are just some ideas off the top of my head... I hope to be there Friday to contribue more.

    * Would you like to see more or fewer alien spawn events?

I dont care really, 220 nts blast all the aliums away in one area damage thing, aliums in cities are only intresting for 220s imo

    * Would you like to see more or fewer PvP oriented events?

little pvp events, as in where I actually CAN shoot tinker in the face...or hadrensen...yes I really would want that.but not hadrensen with the uber ark powers and ultra big inhuman HP bar.

    * Do you feel it's easy to interact with our STs? (STs being the characters in events or the "Storytellers")

    * What do you think about the number of events that you participate in / hear of?

moar! atm there are two mayor events going on but probably a bit low atm because of the summer holidays

    * What do you think about the quality of our articles?
    * How did you like the Who is Omni-Tek series?

Loved it, but where is the Clan series?

    * What would make you decide to participate in the RSS system and submit articles?

I did...but im a horrible writer, even if its cause it usually takes me hours to write just a small piece.

    * Do you have any suggestions for characters that we could develop into a Long Term Character?

well..now that tinkers is gone-ish I think we could use a dose off Marvin to rebalance the over happiness and pinkyness

    * What kind of character would you like to see more of in the game? Small and unimportant, funny and entertaining, brave and heroic, etc

like nadab said, all of them, but please some more clanners and less neutrals. there are like 10 neutral LTC's and 2 clan ltc's ( I love the nanomage clan LTC ofcourse we need more nanomages )

    * What would you change in the way we do the CoT? And how?

only been in 2 times so can't really say, less talking more action, assignments etc

    * What would you change in the way we do the OAM? And how?

floating sittable chairs! more assignments and more info from directors position

    * What would you change in the way we do the NLC? And how?

stop calling it Newland council but Neutral council instead, move out to Borealis, cut the level restirction back to 50 orso (its now 100...absurd) there were some other things I mntioned in that post about this subjject a few months ago.

    * How could the events team better reach new players?

stop hiding in newland all the time..its too quiet there. There are bars in the basic shops aswell, go sit there or talk to people somewhere in the middle of the street instead. same counts for other factions too ofcourse, get out of the cup, move to athen instead and get out of rompas and go to rome blue.

    * What can be done to get old player to RP more? I would rather have this question changed to * What can be done to get clan player to RP more?

erhm make things intresting again, these days its neutrals this neutrals that Newland zus Newland zo. Hadrensen, tinkers, that fat trox that runs an orphanage, The why Not group and the shadow Compendium. Can you blame clanplayers to loose intrest? when was the last clan vs Omni-tek war thingy? what happend to Portman & co?

bit off topic, SOmeone really should give FC a kick in the shin with the nerfiest nerfbat about the Borealis situation and 4holes...bled to death and completly annoying

    * Would you like to have a Specialised OOC meeting for CoT/OAM/NLCC each?
can you define this a bit more with what exactly this would mean? sort of green cloak meeting but aimed towards COT BOD and NLCC?

    Events Questions:

    * Would you like to see more or fewer alien spawn events?

No, all the 220's kill aliens regardless of alien level (red or grey) and it has little effect on role-playing. So the answer, is really...why drop the aliens in OA, when the clan capital is Tir and that should be the main target... if it's storyline related, drop aliens on Simon Silverstone and have him call for help when his sents have aliens up to their necks...same with Omni-Ent or Omni-Trade, why there when Omni-HQ should be it's main target regardless of the low gas PvP zone.

    * Would you like to see more or fewer PvP oriented events?

The last decent PvP oriented event I've seen was about 3 years ago, when omnis were given a target to protect and clanners were given the task to take out the target near 10-3. It was fun for the few minutes that it lasted as people kept coming back from reclaim. It demonstrated that PvP in the open created some issues, non-roleplayers would show up and gang people for titles not having anything to do with the goals of the event.

What does seem to work is an in-doors mission-type environment like the rescue of 2 doctors a few years back in Borealis (the current Miir shop now uses that door) where we entered through a door and a mission-type layout in which we fought against mobs to rescue the women could work if the gas level was changed for PvP.

    * Do you feel it's easy to interact with our STs? (STs being the characters in events or the "Storytellers")

I'd give it a 50/50, in the years I've been in events, about half were great and the other half seems as if the person was on drugs or had no idea how to role-play. If I was to say in the past year... I'd say... content, but could be improved a lot.

    * What do you think about the number of events that you participate in / hear of?

I used to be in dozens of roleplayers friends list and I'd get tells about an event really fast. Now... I get no tells from anyone, don't hear of anything. I only see Editor News and sometimes the Buzz forum to read about an event.... that took place weeks/months ago.

    * What do you think about the quality of our articles?

Well, your average is about 3 articles per month, and quality goes from acceptable to great. It's just too few articles a month... an entire planet and only a handful of articles within 4 whole weeks?

    * How did you like the Who is Omni-Tek series?

Omni role-players probably loved it, OOC in general, I liked it. As a clanner... Down with the corporation! but seriously, when will you do a CoT series?

    * What would make you decide to participate in the RSS system and submit articles?

I was in the RSS system for a while (I believe I still hold the record for the most published freelance articles, 17), but due to the very long turn around time for editing it just discouraged me to submit an article which sometimes required to be published within a few days to promote an event or report on something fresh to have it put out... 2 or more weeks later.

    * Do you have any suggestions for characters that we could develop into a Long Term Character?

Ok, call me nuts, we used to have a Commander Pendion back in the original CoT days, either bring him back (he was an asskicker) or introduce a new CoT Commander to give military assignments to CoT clans.

Get the OT Borealis Administrator out in the open more often, the neutrals need something to interact with (and seen the "Free Borealis" signs and the return of protests would be cool), and we clanners would love a target to attempt assassinating once in a while.

Bring a new Dust Brigade Commander (plus commandos) to once again attack omni/neutral/clan towns like back in the old days when we would get hit and then actually fight hard to kick the dusters out.

    * What kind of character would you like to see more of in the game? Small and unimportant, funny and entertaining, brave and heroic, etc

Funny and entertaining, brave and heroic.

    * What would you change in the way we do the CoT? And how?

More action, less blah blah blah. Roleplayers love to chat, we love being given a task even more, and if there is action.... bingo!

    * What would you change in the way we do the OAM? And how?

    Not involved, so can't say.

    * What would you change in the way we do the NLC? And how?

    Not involved, so can't say.

    * How could the events team better reach new players?

Run events in which it requires little for a new player to learn (like dropping their token board in chat so it's "displayed" as their ID). Small but local events, like Omni-Pol checking for ID's, a man looking for his lost son (giving a reward for anyone able to find him and bring him back), Vanguards looking for a pickpocket in OA (just point the guy out wherever he may be), two people arguing over a business transaction which requires a moderator (the new player), etc.

    * What can be done to get old player to RP more?

Switch from the QUEST NPC blue color, back to the GREEN color, so we can easily recognize "greenies" once again, I ignore anything with blue letters, we have becomed used to seeing "it" as an NPC.

    * Would you like to have a Specialised OOC meeting for CoT/OAM/NLCC each?

Yes, as in a Specialized OOC meeting of all 3 together (let's be practical here, 3 separate meetings would be nuts on people's schedules).

    ==================================

    Time for my questions.

    * Will you please consider changing the LTC's and ST's name colors back to green? they are not quest npc's for god's sake!

    * What happened to the special place (i've got screenshots of it stored in a cd somewhere) where the first official Board of Directors meetings took place which required warps in since it was a special playfield which had huge windows with a view of Omni-HQ? If it still exists, why not attach a door in the Omni-HQ playfield to allow omnis entrance to it for meetings and roleplaying in general?

    * When you enter the Tower of Truth (CoT Building) the first small room, you look up and there is a 2nd and 3rd floor, I've learned in the past (by using /stuck an ungodly amount of times) that those "corridors" are fake dead ends. What are the chances you could charm FC into creating the 2nd and 3rd floors (ok just the 2nd floor would be cool) so we have a new "scene" for clan role-players to do stuff with?

    * Religious type events in the past like those related to the Demon Yxxil were shut down because some geniuses complained it was inappropriate. However I believe the current average AO player is mature enough to handle these kinds of events. Nothing wrong with dark and evil to the core stuff, things that would make us think IC about mortality, beliefs and faith. Would ARK take a chance in doing these types of events?

    * In the past you were able to create "cloud trails" in the air, mostly to give a clue regarding Dust Brigade (example here). Would you be willing to create these kinds of "clues" as follow-up or previews to events. It's adds to the "Cool factor" because once we see something visible we'll start looking for more of them hoping to find some marking or hint to what it is about. I like to call it a "virtual carrot" for us to chase after.

    * I haven't seen an LTC in The Cup or The Happy Rebel in ages (which is one of the reasons why I don't frequent them as often), any chance to get ST's and LTC"s to hang out there a bit more often?

    * So, the IRRK Newswire, did you gave up on that project?

    * Any chance to revive the fictional Zigball League and their awesome matches (and maybe actually reveal the official rules of the game)?

    * Have you ever considered delivering art related events? Like a poet trying to find inspiration while getting drunk at a bar, a holo-vid actor visiting Rubi-Ka for pr purposes, etc.

    * Any room for yalmaha racing events?

Since im working when the meeting is on, thought i would answer the questions here and post a few of my own.

    Firstly answering yours.

Would you like to see more or fewer alien spawn events?
More more more! and better loot on the final ones, as its kinda anti-climatic otherwise.

Would you like to see more or fewer PvP oriented events?
More please, some good old fighting does attract interest and bring interest to Role Playing in my opinion.

Do you feel it's easy to interact with our STs? (STs being the characters in events or the "Storytellers")
Yes i do to a certain extent some are easy to talk to by the nature of their character, others are not.

What do you think about the number of events that you participate in / hear of? It would be great to hear more of whats going on across Rubi Ka from all sides, as it is i can find out about some things only after they occur. It would be nice to see a short report written up about all of them afterwards but i understand how time consuming this would be and no doubt kill off some enthusiasm.

What do you think about the quality of our articles?
Very high quality, though i would love to see more.

How did you like the Who is Omni-Tek series?
This was brilliant i was hoping you were going to continue it and extend it to all the famous people of Rubi Ka.

What would make you decide to participate in the RSS system and submit articles?
More in the way of better rewards, as it is some of them seem to be outdated. Also i would like to think that more could be said on how to write such an article.

Do you have any suggestions for characters that we could develop into a Long Term Character?
Of existing ones i would like to see a return of Portman and Red Freedom etc.
For new ones, i reckon it would be great for Rubi-Ka if there were people around again of Radimen and Ross's stature for each faction, such legendary figures altering the course of Rubi-Kan history would be a huge plus i think.

    * What kind of character would you like to see more of in the game? Small and unimportant, funny and entertaining, brave and heroic, etc
    Think i answered this above..

[BWhat would you change in the way we do the NLC? And how?[/B]
More happening please in the meetings once it returns to normal and get people interested in coming to it! also can we get our own meeting room?

How could the events team better reach new players?
Clean up operations in the Subways maybe? someone outside of Temple of Three Winds requesting help. Be in area's where there are lowbies. Be in area's where there are high numbers of players and draw them into events, lead them off to see whats happening get them to follow because theyre interested.
For example could we have Toog and Hekkat walking around Newland asking people if theyre coming to the NLCC? (presuming it returns to normal).
Same with Legacy clan leaders, surely they could walk around the clan cities before the COT to rally supporters and lead them to the tower?

What can be done to get old player to RP more?
I'm not sure here, apart from to show them what theyre missing.

Would you like to have a Specialised OOC meeting for CoT/OAM/NLCC each?
Depends what would be talked about in the NLCC one as far as i am concerned, but most probably.

    My Questions.

Are we going to see a shift and development of the Borealis storyline?
As i am sick and tired of seeing no movement here, i know its not your fault, but can you give FC a kick up the bum to get this rolling again as i dont believe it was meant to be left like this. (Okay this is my pet ranting material, it has to go first.)

Can we see some new hero's for each faction along the lines of what Radiman and Ross were?
I believe this would be a huge boon to Role Playing in Anarchy Online and such characters will interest more people and get more involved.

Can we see some dramatic battles and more switching of land control happen, as i keep on saying, "I'snt there a war on or something?"

Can you tell me what kit the BFF uses?

P.S. thought i would share this, A while ago you guys ran an event along the lines of Dungeons and Dragons, and as final reward on the dead dragon there were some Ql 400 Pearls. well i sold mine a while back for 1 billion credits, thank you! See transaction picture please dont bug the guy who bought it.

    * Would you like to see more or fewer alien spawn events?
    n/a
    * Would you like to see more or fewer PvP oriented events?
    n/a
    * Do you feel it's easy to interact with our STs? (STs being the characters in events or the "Storytellers")
it's not very hard. the less important a ST is the easier it gets.
    * What do you think about the number of events that you participate in / hear of?
i cant sya there's too many, but i can see that the ark make an effort.

    * What do you think about the quality of our articles?
good. very good. but perhaps a bit long for the rp-ers with a short attention span.
    * How did you like the Who is Omni-Tek series?

    * What would make you decide to participate in the RSS system and submit articles?
a serious role for omni R&D. (wich is very hard i think)

    * Do you have any suggestions for characters that we could develop into a Long Term Character?
People who know people. its easier to rp with Zora's bodyguard, or his hairdresser than Zora himself.
    * What kind of character would you like to see more of in the game? Small and unimportant, funny and entertaining, brave and heroic, etc
Small and unimportant. they can tell the story just as good.

    * What would you change in the way we do the CoT? And how?
    n/a
    * What would you change in the way we do the OAM? And how?
it's getting better as we speak.
    * What would you change in the way we do the NLC? And how?
    n/a

    * How could the events team better reach new players?
just an idea. create a semy-standard rp-introduction event. something in the line of "free the leet". Nothing big. Start a conversation with a player. if he reacts positively you can play the mini event out (perhaps on froob island even) if he responds with WTF just state that you'll look for someone else to help you. be prepaired to get a lot of wtf's but the few people that play along realy can make your day.
    * What can be done to get old player to RP more?
    I'm not old :/
    * Would you like to have a Specialised OOC meeting for CoT/OAM/NLCC each?
    no

Drat, I'm gonna miss the first half of this, so here's some answers from me:

    * Would you like to see more or fewer alien spawn events?
    - personally no, they cause an obscene amount of lag for me on my ATI graphics card and make the city being attacked simply impossible to do anything in.

    * Would you like to see more or fewer PvP oriented events?
-I don't care too much for PvP and such events tend to attract people totally unrelated to and uninterested in RP. Preferably not.

    * Do you feel it's easy to interact with our STs? (STs being the characters in events or the "Storytellers")
-Some are, some not. I've understood there's quite a few more active STs on Omni side than Clan or Neutral, most interaction problems seem to rise from not seeing the characters around in the first place.
I'd also like to see more criminally-oriented characters that are approachable by similar player chars, while right now i.e. Turms's group is very difficult to get in contact with. While hostilities towards "competition" is understandable from a realism point of view, it doesn't make for very interesting RP when the player gets nothing but a cold shoulder. Throw us a little bone now and then!

    * What do you think about the number of events that you participate in / hear of?
-As I mentioned above, there are simply too few characters on Clan and Neutral sides that have any sort of mentionable activity. Many of them are simply not the type my char would particularly be interested in being involved with.

    * What do you think about the quality of our articles?
Like others have said, they're good but not many enough

    * How did you like the Who is Omni-Tek series?
-It was an interesting read, would like a similar one on influential Clan people.

    * What would make you decide to participate in the RSS system and submit articles?
-I'm quite bad at just making up things and writing about insignificant and mundane stuff isn't very inspiring. Maybe if something article-worthy happened ingame I would.

    * Do you have any suggestions for characters that we could develop into a Long Term Character?
-More gritty and criminal LTCs the less lawful characters can interact with. Peddlers, dealers and hackers, less goody-two-shoes!

    * What kind of character would you like to see more of in the game? Small and unimportant, funny and entertaining, brave and heroic, etc
-See above, paired with small and unimportant but enough to make a difference.

    * What would you change in the way we do the CoT? And how?
    N/A
    * What would you change in the way we do the OAM? And how?
    N/A
    * What would you change in the way we do the NLC? And how?
Give the NLC its own meeting room and remove/lower level limits from politicians.

    * How could the events team better reach new players?
-Bring events to the new people. Maybe a small conflict near the subways, or something related to the subs or ToTW in themselves.

    * What can be done to get old player to RP more?
-Give the story significance again, poke at FC's collective lazy butts for PROGRESSION. Everything is in a standstill and nothing seems to affect everything. No wonder everyone's turned passive and given up trying.

    * Would you like to have a Specialised OOC meeting for CoT/OAM/NLCC each?
-Not particularly, the Greencloaks meeting handles OOC businesses pretty well already.

[Vicinity] Pheats: If we get through these fast will respond to some of the answers we received before hand...
    [Vicinity] Salivice: back
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok next question: Would you like to see more or fewer PvP oriented events?
    [Vicinity] Salivice: MOAR
    [Vicinity] Feyad rasies hand
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Gimpeline first
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: Fewer. The people that normaly goes to them don't care about sides or rp. it's normaly just a big gankfest
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: done
    [Vicinity] Thegenerator raises hand also
    [Vicinity] Standdown nods
[Vicinity] Pheats: Thank you, Feyad next
    [Vicinity] Soronia raises her hand
[Vicinity] Feyad: I agree with Lise Fewer.... it tends to be just one big gankfest and lag zone.... very frustrating.
[Vicinity] Pheats: oh and please say done when finished so I know when to move on to the next person
    [Vicinity] Feyad: sorry done
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Thegen your turn
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: First I agree with the 2 previous statements
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: But maybe instead of doing those in borealis, rome, trade, other populated areas you could do them in quieter areas, so it's more PvARK
[Vicinity] Pheats: The issue with that is that then we get no one at all
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: Well you'd have to somehow draw the RPers attention to it
    [Vicinity] Thegenerator: I guess
[Vicinity] Pheats: We try to keep it out of the way if at all possible
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: secondly, something completely different
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Salivice wants to comment first on this
[Vicinity] Salivice: Well, perhaps there could be some way of notifying us when something is going on?
    [Vicinity] Salivice: ICly ofc.
[Vicinity] Salivice: but perhaps something like... alarms or something?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Again if possible we try to do so, but we are limited by resources and such, these days however we will try and get some sort of notice out to atleast the zone its in.
    [Vicinity] Salivice nods
    [Vicinity] Pheats: You done?
[Vicinity] Salivice thats all i had, thank you
    [Vicinity] Thegenerator: so secondly
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Encyros also wanted to comment
    [Vicinity] Thegenerator frowns
[Vicinity] Encyros: Fewer, as they are right now, though I would support PvARK events as the culmination to a small storyline.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok, back to thegen then
    [Vicinity] Thegenerator: ty
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: Someone asked me if it would be possible to just organise an RK global omni vs clan war. within some storyline
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: I mean they asked me to ask you
    [Vicinity] Thegenerator: -done-
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well as Nashedra points out to me, there is the notum wars
[Vicinity] Thegenerator that's not the same
    [Vicinity] Standdown nods
[Vicinity] Pheats: And atleast one storyline currently live is pitching towards a big fight between factions, albeit not a war
[Vicinity] Pheats: If you mean an event where two armys gather and then blow each other up?
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: Can I give an example?
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Go ahead gen
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: I think it happened with the tinkerbot thing
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: I wasn't there but I heard those huge Omni robots came to fight alongside omnis
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ahh yes the riots
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: maybe you could make an ARK team of clans and omnis and let them fight with players
[Vicinity] Pheats: The actually get called in fairly regularly these days
    [Vicinity] Thegenerator: against eachother
    [Vicinity] Nashedra raises hand
    [Vicinity] Thegenerator: -done again-
[Vicinity] Pheats: I've really wanted to do a big war event since I joined events, however its not terribly feasible
[Vicinity] Nashedra: Yes, we could have ARK character fighting. But that would just be a spectacle for people to watch. What I'd rather see is omni players vs clan players in storyline context.
[Vicinity] Pheats: I will look into it and see what we can do but we'd really rely on players bringing the numbers as we dont have ready access to an army
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok last two comments on thegens stuff first from gimp
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: what about 4 holes. harldy anyone there and lots of oportunitys for small stories. helping a employee out, getting info out, sabotage, Lots of stuff to do there
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: and it is out of the way
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: done
[Vicinity] Salivice: and people are there fairly often for the PVP quests neway
[Vicinity] Pheats: We have tried to run raids on the 4 holes as asked by Funcom, unfortunatly we rarely manage to get any real player involvement for that
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: ah
[Vicinity] Salivice: I've only ever heard of it happening once...
[Vicinity] Pheats: I beleive we have something in the planning stages to get more done over there mind.
[Vicinity] Pheats: However I cannot give specifics
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok last comment on thegens stuff, salivice
    [Vicinity] Xezbeth is afk
[Vicinity] Salivice: well, what about the smaller things?
[Vicinity] Salivice: I remember the "Giant Slug-like" attack
[Vicinity] Salivice: and the "Bombing at Bow Point"
[Vicinity] Salivice: What about things like that?
[Vicinity] Pheats: What about them sorry?
[Vicinity] Salivice: Smaller things, that take a while.
[Vicinity] Salivice: couldn't we do some more things like that?
[Vicinity] Salivice: they certainly take less resources,
[Vicinity] Salivice: but they have an effect, however slight, on the storyline
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well we do aggrovated giant monster attacks and small riots and such on a fairly regular basis
[Vicinity] Salivice: not like a riot..
[Vicinity] Salivice: like... a question that you can set people to figuring out
[Vicinity] Salivice: like the bombing at bow point, people were trying to find answers to who did that, but they never came
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ahh a small quest, well at the moment our teams fully busy with the current storylines
    [Vicinity] Xezbeth is back
[Vicinity] Pheats: However I can see about poking some of the lazier members of the team to run small 2-3 event quests like that. Most of the time the small events are part of a bigger story though
[Vicinity] Salivice: just a small thing, that we glean some tiny bit of juicy info from
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Soronia your turn
[Vicinity] Soronia: more P-v-ARK w/o flagging , less PvP - too many e-peens insert themselves into the event
[Vicinity] Soronia: when we attack ARK mobs
[Vicinity] Soronia: we often get flags
[Vicinity] Soronia: that is what leads to problems
    [Vicinity] Soronia: done
[Vicinity] Pheats: The flagging is an unfortunate side effect of running things for the entire player base
[Vicinity] Pheats: We never intend to get the ST's flagged and always try to avoid it, but it only takes one player to run in with a flag to spread it.
[Vicinity] Pheats: With that much going on ST's tend not to be able to avoid attacking those players and get the flag which of course spreads to everyone else
[Vicinity] Salivice: are you comparing pvp flag to AIDS?
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Err... not quite
[Vicinity] Pheats: But some sort of bad virus yes
    [Vicinity] Mirura: swine flu
[Vicinity] Salivice: Swine flu isn't bad, its a joke
[Vicinity] Pheats: That said, we have funcom working on upgrading our stuff to allow us to stop such things happening
    [Vicinity] Soronia nods
    [Vicinity] Standdown smiles
[Vicinity] Pheats: You will know when we have it when all hell breaks loose and death is in every zone
    [Vicinity] Pheats smiles
    [Vicinity] Salivice:
    [Vicinity] Nashedra grins
    [Vicinity] Soronia: frowns...
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok lets move on to the next question
[Vicinity] Salivice giggles and whispers "gnakfest 09! ))
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well hopefully not a gankfest without the flags spreading around

    Atlantean Log Part 2

[Vicinity] Pheats: Anyway enough banter: Do you feel it's easy to interact with our STs?
    [Vicinity] Salivice: No.
    [Vicinity] Soronia nods
[Vicinity] Pheats eyes salivice again and leans towards the nerf button
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Gimpeline first
    [Vicinity] Salivice:
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: Most are easy but hard to find. I often run to places I think they might be, but far to often I can't locate them before they log off.
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: done
[Vicinity] Pheats: I would like to point out were talking ST's here not LTC
[Vicinity] Pheats ST's is the name given to the characters that tell the story in an event
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: Like the investigator and such?
    [Vicinity] Feyad raises hand
[Vicinity] Nahomeli: ST = Story Teller ?
[Vicinity] Pheats: For example the guards going on patrol, the quiz guy asking questions, the giant rabid leet mauling you
[Vicinity] Pheats: ST does indeed = Storyline
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: ah, i guess i mussunderstood
[Vicinity] Pheats: Basically the characters you'll see in an event but wont see again
[Vicinity] Salivice: ...like the guy from the alium solidarity thingy?
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: then thats diffrent. they are easy to interact with
[Vicinity] Pheats: I think atleast one or two of the alien hippys are LTC's
[Vicinity] Pheats: But there has been some ST versions
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok salivice you had a response?
[Vicinity] Salivice: You answered it already.
    [Vicinity] Salivice: so done
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok any more responses to this question?
    [Vicinity] Feyad: nods no.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Nope so onto the next question: What do you think about the number of events that you participate in / hear of?
    [Vicinity] Feyad raises hand
    [Vicinity] Soronia raises hand
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Feyad you first
[Vicinity] Feyad: Well... unless it's a player run investigation, pretty much nil Unless it is broadcast over C42... by the time I hear about an event and get there... it's over. (done)
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok now Soronia
[Vicinity] Soronia: could be a bit mroe events
[Vicinity] Soronia: and, w/o bots to relay LTC's getting on, we'd miss most
    [Vicinity] Standdown raises hand
[Vicinity] Soronia: not sure if IRRK channel coudl be used
[Vicinity] Soronia: or some ARK-initialted way of alerting ppl
    [Vicinity] Soronia: done
    [Vicinity] Feyad: raises hand again.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Again we do try to get the event announced where appropriate but we do also rely heavily on players passing info around, and I beleive my team wants to comment on such things at the end of the meeting.
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Salivice
[Vicinity] Salivice: Well, they could give just a tad more info about whats going on
[Vicinity] Salivice: Something to make them seem like more than just random occurences
    [Vicinity] Salivice: done
[Vicinity] Pheats: A lot of events are just meant to be random occurences though
[Vicinity] Pheats: And of course some events aren't really capable of announcing lots of info without being OOC
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Standdown
[Vicinity] Standdown: I will add to this that many people dont relay information and without some type of communication in place we dont get to participate especially lower level players
    [Vicinity] Standdown: done
[Vicinity] Pheats: Indeed again, I think we have comments that we want to do at the end about such things
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Feyad again
[Vicinity] Feyad: on my FC accounts page is a question regarding if I want to be notified about ark-events and participation... Not once in the 5 years that I've been playing have I received an e-mail about an event.... I think there is some missed opportunities here for RP participation and numbers that you guys are looking for... (done)
    [Vicinity] Standdown nods
[Vicinity] Pheats: That is not an email alert system
[Vicinity] Pheats: What that does is put you on a handy little list we have access too
[Vicinity] Pheats: That tells us that you dont mind being randomly attacked or such regardless what your doing
[Vicinity] Feyad: ok but still you have access to a large number of people that can be involved in an event.... (done)
[Vicinity] Pheats As such for certain events we'll go down the list, find people that are in appropriate zones (not all zones are accessible for us) and then target those people be it for kidnapping or free passes into a Rubi-ka larping adventure
[Vicinity] Salivice: We can be kidnappeded?
[Vicinity] Uragon raises one of his paws
    [Vicinity] Eeod raises hand
[Vicinity] Pheats: Unfortunatly many players have that signed up but dont actually wish to be particpants so we'll aim for a large number on the list and end up with perhaps 1 person that actually plays along or particpates
[Vicinity] Pheats: Of course we will then rely on people spreading things via word of mouth.
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Gimpeline
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: mabye it could be a ark even channel that we could subscribe to? Like the raidbots? cant be fun to do events when you just can find 2-3 people to do it with when you know there is mabye 10-15 more out there who would like to get involved. and to answer salvise. yes. you can be kidnapped. i have and it was fun
    [Vicinity] Salivice: sweet
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: done
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well the issue with that is events has no way to set such a channel up, we can't use third party bots and Im not sure of funcoms willingness to code in a new channel completely, but best bet is to spread it amongst yourselves anyway you have
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Uragon you had a comment? Then eeod then next question.
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: ok
[Vicinity] Uragon: Would it be possible to make this sign up process character based instead of account based? Maybe as a suggestion, that's all from me.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Not entirely sure, that would have to be put to funcom, again we can't directly change that.
[Vicinity] Uragon: I know, it's just some characters of ours don't really RP, like bank chars etc.
[Vicinity] Soronia thinks bankers get mugged all the time
    [Vicinity] Agrestus grins
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well thats the danger of signing up, one minute playing on your bankchar, next being chased by a demented android across milkyway
[Vicinity] Dabblez: Yeah, and if you kidnap the bank cahracter, who is going to pay the ransom?
[Vicinity] Salivice: privately agrees.... wtb more violence
[Vicinity] Pheats: I will point out that we do try to avoid the less reasonably named characters for example we tend to not target someone called Bankzor1231
[Vicinity] Uragon: That's the thing though, I *want* to take this risk on my main, but not necessarily on characters like temple twinks, bank characters etc.
    [Vicinity] Salivice: aww
[Vicinity] Pheats: Unfortunatly thats a risk, specially if you like naming your characters properly.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Eeod last comment on this.
[Vicinity] Eeod: the way you described things it's not likely a lot of people get involved in stories, because they play the game and are in zones that are more remote. I suggest pm them and get them to meet a ST and get involved. done.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Depending on the story we will target people in different zones.
[Vicinity] Eeod: also in mission instances?
[Vicinity] Pheats: And often if we see a someone we know would enjoy it and want to target them we do tend to wait around a bit to see if they'll leave the bad zone.
    [Vicinity] Salivice: RP in inferno?
[Vicinity] Pheats: I think Mission instances are one of the zones that take you off the list.
    [Vicinity] Eeod: :/
[Vicinity] Pheats: Inferno you still show I beleive.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok next question...What do you think about the quality of our articles?
[Vicinity] Pheats looks at the time and sighs
[Vicinity] Pheats: Failed the time trial again this year...
    [Vicinity] Soronia raises hand
[Vicinity] Salivice: start playing Time Crisis 2. Then you'll never fail a Time Trial
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Soronia
[Vicinity] Soronia varies - some are good, some are rather lame
    [Vicinity] Soronia: done
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Any examples?
[Vicinity] Soronia: not any recently but were a few about a year ago
[Vicinity] Salivice: the maggots in the Rome Apartment >.>
[Vicinity] Soronia: that were kind of out-of-the-blue and not too related to storyline
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ahhh well the event team is almost completely different from a year ago, so chances are you wont see those sort of articles.
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Gimpeline
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: I think they are verry good. Could be more of them
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: done
    [Vicinity] Agrestus raises his tail
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well we tend to write articles for stoylines where needed, right now we dont have a reporter team so its down to who ever has time to write one.
[Vicinity] Salivice: wut bout t3h RKT team? I'm sure they'd be happy to helo
    [Vicinity] Salivice: *help
[Vicinity] Pheats: We rely mostly on other arks getting involved with one of our projects or player submissions.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok salivice since it was your turn to comment anyway (lucky you) please go ahead
    [Vicinity] Salivice: Alright, well
[Vicinity] Salivice: the last one I saw
[Vicinity] Salivice was a broken link
    [Vicinity] Salivice: the "Breakthrough"
[Vicinity] Salivice: by Research on the tracking device
[Vicinity] Salivice: got a "Thread does not exist" when I followed the link to the Forums.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Will have to look into what that happened
    [Vicinity] Pheats: You done?
    [Vicinity] Salivice: yep.
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Agrestus
[Vicinity] Salivice: gimpeline said the rest of what I had
[Vicinity] Agrestus: Oh, I was just going to say I agree with Gimpe, a lot of fun and interesting stuff when the articles do pop up, but I won't pressure for more. I know i'd be too lazy to constantly churn out interesting articles without them getting a tad too poorly done :P
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok thank you.
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Next question.
[Vicinity] Pheats: How did you like the Who is Omni-Tek series?
    [Vicinity] Salivice: ...the what?
    [Vicinity] Feyad raises hand
    [Vicinity] Soronia looks puzzled
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Go ahread Feyad.
[Vicinity] Feyad: I like them... It was nice to get some backgrounds on the Directors... Keep it up.
[Vicinity] Pheats: ok, any other comments on this?
    [Vicinity] Feyad: dond
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Go ahead Gimpeline
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: I have to agree. Good to get some background on the carracters
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: done
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok any more comments?
[Vicinity] Vedia shoves Gimpeline a bit to the right
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok, next question: What would make you decide to participate in the RSS system and submit articles?
[Vicinity] Soronia thinks vast XP and credits
[Vicinity] Pheats: I think we've had one player article submitted in the past several months... which was turned down due to OOC content.
    [Vicinity] Feyad raises hand
[Vicinity] Pheats: Which considering we've spent a bit of time developing the system so we can get the articles out on time is a bit frustrating
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Go ahead Feyad.
[Vicinity] Feyad: Well.... my reporter for RSS pretty much gave up on RSS as due to lack of timely publication... It's very frustrating to write about an event, and not have it posted until 3-4 weeks after the event.... thereby no longer being relevant.
[Vicinity] Feyad: So I've moved my Reporter to RKT....
    [Vicinity] Feyad: (done)
[Vicinity] Pheats: As said, we knew about this and have worked to get it down, any article received should (aslong as the player inquestion validates it proptly) be up or disapproved withing 1 week at the very latest.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Usual time for editing is about 24 hours, and 48 hours for posting if take into account players validating slowly.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Granted if we start getting hundreds this will slow down a bit but should no longer be in the months time frame.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Gimpeline your comment.
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: Pretty hard one. i'm not much of a writer, and my english isn't that good. i like to read and follow up, but i'm not that good at starting things. been thinking about submitting the Bod meetings sine i am always logging
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: done
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well we will edit the articles submitted to clear spelling and grammar errors (not me you should be happy to hear, someone who is still friendly with spelling)
[Vicinity] Pheats: So even if your article is written in mostly typonese we'll try to clean it up and then wait for you to do any edits and validate it.

    Atlantean Log Part 3

[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok lets move to the next question shall we?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Do you have any suggestions for characters that we could develop into a Long Term Character?
    [Vicinity] Uragon raises his hand
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Go ahead Gimpeline.
    [Vicinity] Thegenerator raises hand
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: My two favorites is Tinkerbots and Sylvester (or was it sylvyster, the reet that used to hang out in the cup) More like them. Mabye the owner of Miir?
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: done
    [Vicinity] Feyad raises hand
    [Vicinity] Agrestus raises hand
[Vicinity] Pheats: So the happy go lucky low substance high eye damage characters?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Just so happens those two where both the same persons.
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: yup
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: ah
[Vicinity] Mirura: sits quietly and points to her post in Buzz.
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: didn't know that
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Salivice your comment
[Vicinity] Salivice: Well, perhaps someone out of Stret West?
[Vicinity] Salivice: Like a citizen of Stret West Bank, maybe see the leadership out there
[Vicinity] Pheats: I think there is one or two still based in stret west, will have to see and poke them.
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Done?
    [Vicinity] Salivice yes
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Uragon, you
[Vicinity] Uragon: "Training Officers" or "Department Specialists" .. run events that help people learn more about their departments and the roles of people in those departments. Like a bar tending course from Jaitas new cocktail waiter or an Engineering workshop from a new droid of Sakkamotos.
    [Vicinity] Uragon: Done.
    [Vicinity] Standdown nods
    [Vicinity] Pheats nods
[Vicinity] Pheats: Salivice want to comment on that
[Vicinity] Salivice: Yes, you mean like... Omni-Med Training peeps?
[Vicinity] Salivice: or trainers for a crash course in Omni-InternOps?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Im guessing probably bits of both
[Vicinity] Pheats: We can look into it
    [Vicinity] Salivice: done
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Thegen
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: I would like to see more LTCs who are just there to talk to you without all the hidden agenda's which usually end up in the LTC dying somehow
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: Also .. more bartenders! I keep getting thirsty
    [Vicinity] Standdown giggles
    [Vicinity] Thegenerator: -done-
[Vicinity] Pheats: There SHOULD be plenty, unfortunatly we need to get other arks to play theres more.
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Feyad next.
[Vicinity] Feyad: kk 1. Bring back Brihae <spl>... She was scary... 2. Bring back Greenies LTC's need to be green again. (done)
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok, Agrestus
[Vicinity] Agrestus: At the moment, there's a lot of LTC's that clearly have their heads screwed on and know what they're doing.. Those characters are fine and fun but perhaps some lovably hopeless ones that always get into a mess? The sort that could drag players into trouble as well could be entertaining. It'd bring a change from the LTC's that outsmart our puny minds quite a lot with their vast knowledge of things
    [Vicinity] Agrestus: Done
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Next question
[Vicinity] Pheats: What kind of character would you like to see more of in the game? Small and unimportant, funny and entertaining, brave and heroic, etc
    [Vicinity] Feyad: All 3
[Vicinity] Pheats: I guess lots of you answered that one in previous question...
[Vicinity] Pheats: Yeah, think we can skip this one, gathered that in the previous question
    [Vicinity] Pheats smiles
[Vicinity] Pheats: What would you change in the way we do the CoT? And how?
    [Vicinity] Feyad raises hand
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Go ahead feyad
[Vicinity] Feyad: Bomb the building? I'm Omni, eh.... (done j/k)
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok anyone that doesnt involve violence against said meeting members?
    [Vicinity] Feyad: snickers.
[Vicinity] Thegenerator lowers hand looking sad
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Salivice?
[Vicinity] Salivice: Well, since I can't blow anything up...
[Vicinity] Salivice: perhaps a little dialogue between factions in CoT meetings?
[Vicinity] Salivice: granted OT refuses to acknowledge them as anything more than terrorists
[Vicinity] Pheats: So jacobi talking about how simon keeps spending too much money on ammo or?
    [Vicinity] Agrestus raises hand
    [Vicinity] Salivice: yah
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok
    [Vicinity] Salivice: ./done
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Agrestus?
[Vicinity] Agrestus: I know how a lot of people asked for action rather than talking in the CoT, but I know it can be difficult to contantly provide action
[Vicinity] Agrestus: So perhaps some drama in the CoT rather than the casual talking?
[Vicinity] Agrestus As in, some more heated arguments perhaps and differing opinions between the clans
[Vicinity] Pheats: We are trying to come up with involvement and a lot of the current storylines ask for it
[Vicinity] Agrestus: They seem a bit tame at the moment
    [Vicinity] Mirura raises hand
    [Vicinity] Agrestus: Done
    [Vicinity] Pheats: So more debate?
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok, Mirura?
[Vicinity] Mirura: Just chiming in that I agree wholeheartedly, we need some real conflict and drama between different clans That's all
    [Vicinity] Encyros agrees
    [Vicinity] Agrestus cheers
[Vicinity] Pheats: Nashedra points out to me that theres something like that in the planning stages.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Again, we have lots of stuff planned but are tied up in current stuff for the moment, we hope to try and speed things a long a bit though.
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok next question
[Vicinity] Pheats: What would you change in the way we do the OAM? And how?
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Gimpeline?
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: Send them to reform so they get some of their spirit back. At the moment they are way to eager to please ICC
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: A year or so ago when I was a member of Society of salvation, we were put on trail for having a party in Tir. Now we have a neutral investigator, paid by Jacobi, that we are supposed to work for and no one lift a eyebrow Its aproved by all. What happen to "seek employment with Omni-Tek or seek termination"?
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: done
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well They kind of have to appease the ICC else Omni-tek gets punished....
    [Vicinity] Feyad raises hand
    [Vicinity] Agrestus grins
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: that hasen't botrherd them or zora in the past
[Vicinity] Pheats: The investigator is also paid for by Omni-tek and neutral governments on the basis of ICC poking them to do so.
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: Look at the story line
[Vicinity] Pheats: Also Seek employment with omni-tek or seek termination is an outdated principle these days, again were working on an upto date release with funcom
[Vicinity] Pheats: Since Zora came in omni-tek has lost a lot of footing on rubi-ka due to ICC cracking down on such behaviour.
[Vicinity] Nashedra: I would also like to point out that even Zora when taking Borealis over he let ICC know what he was doing and why.
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: Zora has never gone back on that, so it still aplys untill he saysotherwise
[Vicinity] Pheats: Again, were working on getting things uptodate, but just because he doesnt say doesnt mean times dont change, please keep that in mind. And yes I know its our fault for letting things fall behind.
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: done
[Vicinity] Pheats As nashedra points out to me, Directors policies are set based on Zora's orders, so what they say should be taken as uptodate, as much as you may not enjoy that (and yes we will try and get zora around some more for OAMs and such, soon tm)
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Salivice you had a comment?
    [Vicinity] Salivice: yah, on Zora
[Vicinity] Salivice: Haven't seen him a lot
[Vicinity] Salivice: in fact.. haven't seen him at all...
[Vicinity] Pheats points up to his last brackets
[Vicinity] Salivice: and a bunch of directors dont seem to ever show up for the meetings
    [Vicinity] Salivice: donwe
[Vicinity] Pheats: Again it comes down to who in ark is available, we try to get more directors showing up.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Feyad I think was next?
[Vicinity] Feyad: 1. What happened to Jacob Strauss? I miss his moderations at BoD. 2. Move to the smaller conference room when there is a low turn-out. 3. Give us something to do at the Meetings.. Assign affiliates to do something... even if it's count the number of Leets in Clon****.... or reporting on the number of DUI tickets RUR has.....
    [Vicinity] Dabblez: *couhg*
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok 1: Jacob was a player, not sure what happened to him
    [Vicinity] Feyad: (done)
[Vicinity] Pheats: 2: we will look into doing that unfortunatly that table doesnt let the directors sit in an intimidating way
[Vicinity] Pheats: And they do like to intimidate
[Vicinity] Pheats: 3: I suggest you try to attend more meetings
    [Vicinity] Pheats smiles
[Vicinity] Feyad: I would but they happen to fall on OP's meeting days too...
    [Vicinity] Velysia raises hand
[Vicinity] Pheats: I know Omni-pol got given atleast one thing last meeting, as I have the email from them in my intray... I think it has your name in it... twice...
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Encryos
[Vicinity] Encyros: You noted that Zora's message wasn't up to date with the current situation. Isn't factional conflict supposed to be the a large part of what Lost Eden is about? "We knew our enemies; not from their faces but their blood-stricken bodies-..." "We need intelligence, we need firepower, we need to kill", and all that. I'd welcome some occasional acts of aggression.
    [Vicinity] Encyros: Done.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Yes, and conflict is a large part of what were aiming to do, but its no longer the out and out war of a hundred years ago, ICC has cracked down lots on citizen rights so its not so much abusing any neutral or <insert opposing faction here> but more work out how to get approval and then go get a targeted area
[Vicinity] Pheats: We have no issue with conflict as long as theres an actual reason behind it, the "but there suchandsuch side" conflict is more suited for the battle stations and tower sites.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Granted if an organization attacks your tower site im sure people wont mind approving a witch hunt for them
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok last comment on this, Velysia
[Vicinity] Velysia: I guess it's a bit far behind now.. but we are trying to take part in the BoD some time soon when you mentioned participation.. we're just trying to get our representatives up to the level requirement =)
    [Vicinity] Velysia: done
[Vicinity] Pheats: You may want to check the changes made that are posted on the AO forums, im sure someone can point you to them. But good to hear, more the merrier
[Vicinity] Pheats: Also my team wants to point out that you can't have more conflict based on the fact that your side plain doesnt like the other and have less combat based events
    [Vicinity] Pheats smiles
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok next question: What would you change in the way we do the NLC? And how?
    [Vicinity] Agrestus raises hand
    [Vicinity] Pheats Agrestus
    [Vicinity] Dabblez raises her hand
[Vicinity] Agrestus: Actually, I think it's quite interesting so far, and there is an idea the ministers are thinking about to get the Compendium out.. However, I feel a little out of touch with the actual scheme of things
[Vicinity] Agrestus: While I respect Mr Falon leaving it to me to deal with criminals for instance, i've been nicknamed the mayor by Tuxcedo as i'm pretty much doing everything while Turms and Nendas has a chill time :P
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well were still holding out that you lot will come up with things
[Vicinity] Pheats As you've been a lot different to the blood lusting dim2 crew
[Vicinity] Agrestus: Yeah, we prefer to use our heads rather than our weapons, though it does take longer
[Vicinity] Pheats: That said we have things planned, so you may want to speed up a bit before we get on with things.
[Vicinity] Feyad: bangs on comm unit... (can't make log with private comms).
[Vicinity] Agrestus: There'll be some action at the next meeting hopefully
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok you done Agrestus?
    [Vicinity] Agrestus: I'm done
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Baddlez
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Er Dabblez...
[Vicinity] Dabblez: Pet peeve. The NCL is called a "City Council" but it is regarded as and acts as a Neutral CoT. Maybe that is the right thing for it to do (although it raises questions as to whether "Neutral" is a Nationality), but it annoys me that it calles itself a city council.
    [Vicinity] Feyad: snickers.
[Vicinity] Pheats: The Newland City Council is a CITY council
[Vicinity] Dabblez: I used to attend as Dabblez live in Nelwnad for many years
[Vicinity] Pheats: It is designed to deal with issue concerning newland only, and we do try to keep this clear.
[Vicinity] Dabblez: It was a joke in part, but when Dabblez ran for Newland Science minister
[Vicinity] Dabblez: She was had been living in Newland longer than most people
[Vicinity] Pheats: Unforunatly some wish for it to be otherwise, needless to say for the moment it is a City Government, not a factional one (as neutral isn't technically a faction, its a side)
[Vicinity] Dabblez: And yet any Neutral form any town was elegible but not her
[Vicinity] Pheats This may or may not change in future
[Vicinity] Dabblez: No biggies, just a pet peeve
    [Vicinity] Dabblez: Done
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well we do tend to bias the neutrals but Im sure we can open it up to all citizens if they have proof of house ownership for a long period of time
[Vicinity] Pheats: Any other comments on this?

    Atlantean Log part 4

[Vicinity] Pheats: Thats a no then, ok How could the events team better reach new players?
    [Vicinity] Salivice: RP tutorials
    [Vicinity] Salivice whoops
    [Vicinity] Pheats grins at salivice
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Gimpeline first
[Vicinity] Feyad: turns and watches Salivice go "Blink".
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: Run small events in places like Rome blue basic where the new players gather. Can just have someone there that want help to get to the subway or something
    [Vicinity] Salivice: T.T
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: done
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok, now salivice
[Vicinity] Salivice: how about events in places where ALL new players come
    [Vicinity] Salivice: like... nub isle
    [Vicinity] Encyros frowns
[Vicinity] Salivice: and I agree w/ gimp as well
    [Vicinity] Salivice: Done
[Vicinity] Pheats: I think were not allowed on the island or training area but I'd have to check
[Vicinity] Pheats: If not I think we could possibly do something
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok any further comments?
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Salivice... again...
    [Vicinity] Salivice: sorry
    [Vicinity] Agrestus smirks
[Vicinity] Salivice: but perhaps an LTC INSIDE the subway?
[Vicinity] Salivice: it seems like a bad idea, unless you park it like in the mini-mall in there
    [Vicinity] Mirura raises hand
    [Vicinity] Salivice: done
[Vicinity] Pheats: I doubt we'd let a LTC in there due to the combat nature of the place.
    [Vicinity] Salivice: i promise
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Mirura?
[Vicinity] Mirura: That idea could actually be expanded upon with a small plotline over blackmarket trade in the subways
[Vicinity] Pheats: I think some people have stuff planned in subways or has done stuff with the subway, always do more I guess...
[Vicinity] Mirura: I bet we could get players to volunteer to play out related characters too
    [Vicinity] Mirura: done
[Vicinity] Pheats: By all means you lot can set up your own characters for such things aswell
[Vicinity] Pheats: Just want to point out (as Theo and Feyn pointed to me) subway and island are both instanced so tend not to get as many players as you'd think inside.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok next question: What can be done to get old player to RP more?
    [Vicinity] Feyad: raises hand.
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Go on feyad
[Vicinity] Feyad: this gets back to more communication about events... Most older RP'rs I know quit rp due to lack of notice about events.
    [Vicinity] Feyad: (done)
    [Vicinity] Standdown nods
    [Vicinity] Pheats: ok, and gimpeline?
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: if you see a known rp'er, talk to them. Dont wait for them to talk to you. Tinker did that and it worked pretty well sine I didn't always notice her before she talked. i might be bussy in tells or another channel. Sometimes i dont see the ltc before it is to late.
[Vicinity] Keanne raises her hand too
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: done
[Vicinity] Pheats: That depends heavily on the character
    [Vicinity] Feyad: raises hand again.
[Vicinity] Pheats Tinkerbots WOULD go up to people, Turms wouldn't
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: same with me
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: I dont have the habbit to wakl up to strangers and talk
[Vicinity] Pheats: And its not just known roleplayers we have to cater too
[Vicinity] Salivice mutters "No turms would just destroy them."
[Vicinity] Pheats: And we also tend to want to avoid approaching known RPers to allow you to approach us on your own terms while we can focus on getting non Rpers getting involved and converted
[Vicinity] Pheats: If we know you RP we tend to think you can work your way into getting involved, this lets not only your own characters get more in depth but allows us to as mentioned focus on those less likely to know how to do such things
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Keanne I think next
[Vicinity] Keanne: Good points, on both of you. One note though, it's probably not very fruitful to create characters that don't want to communicate and then put the emphasis of one's RP on interaction.. that goes on both players and ARKs. But to my idea...
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well the ARK ones tend to all be approachable or interactive, the ones that arent are generally more then just LTC's or for those that like a challenge
[Vicinity] Keanne: Or hope, more like it... have LTCs inquire and research player-characters, and hire/order other players to do that for them. Everyone does things we are not supposed to (remember those "no running" signs in Omni-Ent), and that could just be used to add interaction.
    [Vicinity] Pheats nods
[Vicinity] Pheats: We do that now and then when its appropriate
    [Vicinity] Pheats: You done?
[Vicinity] Keanne: On Omni-side... it's really more like happy-happy-joy-joy-community instead of sinister and probably very evil corporation.
    [Vicinity] Mirura raises hand
    [Vicinity] Agrestus glances at Keanne
[Vicinity] Pheats: Unfortunatly that seems to be what gets you involved! The evil corporate people tend to get ignored
[Vicinity] Keanne: To change the perspective, have people, properly authorised or not, to inquite about things. Done now, I think.
    [Vicinity] Salivice:
[Vicinity] Keanne: Or not done, commenting the last one: naturally we can't or won't say "yes, we are evil and we like it".. it's bad PR. But having InternOps really prying on everyone, always... it would give a paranoid feeling which would be good in my opinion.
[Vicinity] Pheats: I do beleive we have a fair few spys
    [Vicinity] Keanne: done..ish.
[Vicinity] Keanne: Clearly not enough, I haven't ever been questioned...
    [Vicinity] Salivice:
    [Vicinity] Velysia raises hand
[Vicinity] Pheats: Do you have a reason to be questioned?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Maybe we need to get the thumb screws out...
    [Vicinity] Mirura: Who doesn't?
[Vicinity] Keanne: Of course not, I'm a loyal and good employee.
[Vicinity] Salivice: Or... is she? XD
[Vicinity] Feyad mumbles "Doesn't mean we don't have a file on you Keane"
[Vicinity] Pheats: Anyway, Feyad I think wanted to comment again
[Vicinity] Feyad: I would love to interact with LTC's... if I knew where they were. Channel42 has a nice tracker that lets us know when the log in... but no info about where they might be. There is a great list of LTC's on the forums... would be nice if ARK updated it with general hangouts of LTC's.
    [Vicinity] Feyad: (done)
[Vicinity] Pheats: Again thats always going to be an issue, generally though bars are your best bet
[Vicinity] Pheats: Bars, whompa's and meeting spots
[Vicinity] Pheats: Or ask other players where they've seen them, LTC's tend to walk the same area's each time
[Vicinity] Pheats: Thegen wants to comment
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: I think it's quite logical that you don't know where LTCs are.. after all they are -IC- just people. we don't have tracers on them
    [Vicinity] Thegenerator: done
    [Vicinity] Mirura does
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Mirura next
[Vicinity] Pheats: Then velysia then the next question.
[Vicinity] Mirura: Yeah, I was just gonna add up on Keanne's very good ideas, that I'd love to see something similar on Clan side. Tasks from the clan leaders, intel missions and such to actually have SOMETHING happen sometimes.
    [Vicinity] Encyros nods along
[Vicinity] Pheats: Technically you should be getting stuff from them, I know I for one have made stuff to be given out for the past few...
[Vicinity] Mirura: I haven't heard of anything along those lines happening at all
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Done?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Hmm perhaps I need to poke people to be louder then.
[Vicinity] Mirura: Though I've been absent from the past few council meetings because of IC political disagreements
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ahh there you go then
[Vicinity] Pheats: If you dont attend we cant give you stuff
[Vicinity] Mirura: But I'd have heard of it IC or OOC
[Vicinity] Mirura: If such had happened in the meetings
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well I know it states some stuff in the last logs
    [Vicinity] Mirura: Anyway, done.
[Vicinity] Pheats: You may want to go check
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok Velysia
[Vicinity] Velysia: Oh, relating to Keanne's suggestion.. We were thinking of affiliating with InternOps Keanne, so we could pester you some more too, we have a habit of doing that if it puts pressure off the ARKs =) but to relate it to the question.. It would be nice to work with LTC's in a closer manner rather than something that feels too distant. Something that links a bit more closely to a person or organisation would be great. Thanks =)
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok
[Vicinity] Pheats: Right then, last events question!
[Vicinity] Pheats: Would you like to have a Specialised OOC meeting for CoT/OAM/NLCC each?
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Gimpeline
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: We have a OOC meeting already called Greencloaks. It's also open to arks. There is no need for another ooc meeting
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: done
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ahh greencloaks I know thee well
    [Vicinity] Eeod: hear hear
    [Vicinity] Standdown agrees
[Vicinity] Pheats: I have to say I've sort of been avoiding it for the last one or two...
[Vicinity] Feyad: Yes we missed your opinions on boobs.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Tendancy to break down into a discussion of bodily parts of complaining about things that we stopped doing to do something else that was complained about...
[Vicinity] Agrestus: I don't bite, not sure about the others
    [Vicinity] Salivice does
[Vicinity] Pheats: That said I still read the logs
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok any other comments?
[Vicinity] Thegenerator agrees with pheats on that one
    [Vicinity] Agrestus raises hand
[Vicinity] Pheats: I'll take that as wer... darnit Agrestus! go on then
[Vicinity] Agrestus: I'm terrible but I just wanted to ask what it meant by OOC NLCC meeting for instance, it doesn't seem like there'd be much to discuss. but you don't need to answer that really, i'll let you relax for once
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well just sit around chat about how its going, about whats happening etc
[Vicinity] Pheats: Personally im not fond of the idea, mostly because its lots more work for us that isn't events
[Vicinity] Agrestus: Ah right, well, i'm done
[Vicinity] Agrestus: Yeah, too much work there.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok so thats the end of the events questions

  14. #14

    Atlantean Logs Part V

[Vicinity] Pheats: Now were going to go throught the player questions we recieved
[Vicinity] Thegenerator: that was the longest hour in AO I ever had
[Vicinity] Salivice: Hour? It felt like two...
    [Vicinity] Encyros: lag
[Vicinity] Pheats: Most if not all are from this dim...
    [Vicinity] Eeod: zzzzzz
[Vicinity] Pheats: And yes, we failed the time trial.
    [Vicinity] Salivice: T.T
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok, we were asked: Are Omni-Tek Affiliates able to pass contents of the OAM to other employees/neutrals/clans if they so wish?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Yes they are but it is upto the character to choose what to give and what not to, plenty of information in OAM's would be no problem being given out to public (and if someone starts posting minutes again would be the uncensored stuff) while other stuff would be strictly classified.
[Vicinity] Pheats: If the directors find out your giving information out to people, depending on the information they may punish you however.
[Vicinity] Pheats: So talking about a party Omni-teks planning in public = A ok
[Vicinity] Pheats: Talking about personal security patrols and getting found out = reform time
[Vicinity] Pheats: Next question we were asked: Will you please consider changing the LTC's and ST's name colors back to green? they are not quest npc's for god's sake!
[Vicinity] Pheats: No, the blue colour was asked for by events and given by funcom so that we can flag roleplay characters to make them different to ark characters, Funcom then decided that quest mobs are also in role characters and gave it to them, we know this is not ideal but for the moment there is no intention to change back.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Next question we were asked was What happened to the special place (i've got screenshots of it stored in a cd somewhere) where the first official Board of Directors meetings took place which required warps in since it was a special playfield which had huge windows with a view of Omni-HQ? If it still exists, why not attach a door in the Omni-HQ playfield to allow omnis entrance to it for meetings and roleplaying in general?
    [Vicinity] Salivice claps in agreeance
[Vicinity] Pheats: Now im not 100% sure on which zone the player happens to be commenting about, if its the one that we use for the OAM (which has no windows) the answer is It is still in use, people now wait outside the building for the meeting. Yes it would be nice to have it actually attached to the planet via a door but its not something we in events can deal with, but we have poked funcom about this on a few occasions, but its not a major priority.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Otherwise we need more info on which zone.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Next question was: When you enter the Tower of Truth (CoT Building) the first small room, you look up and there is a 2nd and 3rd floor, I've learned in the past (by using /stuck an ungodly amount of times) that those "corridors" are fake dead ends. What are the chances you could charm FC into creating the 2nd and 3rd floors (ok just the 2nd floor would be cool) so we have a new "scene" for clan role-players to do stuff with?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Very slim chance of this happening, while it would be nice to expand more and more areas its very labour intensive and if suggested would probably be turned down (specially as the current area's are hardly used anyway)
[Vicinity] Pheats: Next question was: Religious type events in the past like those related to the Demon Yxxil were shut down because some geniuses complained it was inappropriate. However I believe the current average AO player is mature enough to handle these kinds of events. Nothing wrong with dark and evil to the core stuff, things that would make us think IC about mortality, beliefs and faith. Would ARK take a chance in doing these types of events?
[Vicinity] Pheats: We have no issue with evil and demons, however making events like this that also fit with the scifi nature is not an easy task, specially not if you dont want it to just be ToTW|IS clones.
[Vicinity] Pheats: That said Im sure we have one or two that we've done/do
[Vicinity] Pheats: Next question: In the past you were able to create "cloud trails" in the air, mostly to give a clue regarding Dust Brigade (example here). Would you be willing to create these kinds of "clues" as follow-up or previews to events. It's adds to the "Cool factor" because once we see something visible we'll start looking for more of them hoping to find some marking or hint to what it is about. I like to call it a "virtual carrot" for us to chase after.
[Vicinity] Pheats: To be honest, I dont really know how they were made, I could probably look into it but chances are there a set effect for just that one, and as ARK Events no longer deals with the dust brigade would probably not be used, I can however look into poking people about adding some other stuff we can use as visual clues, just dont hold your breath (unless you can live without oxygen..)
    [Vicinity] Eeod turns purple
[Vicinity] Pheats: Next question: I haven't seen an LTC in The Cup or The Happy Rebel in ages (which is one of the reasons why I don't frequent them as often), any chance to get ST's and LTC"s to hang out there a bit more often?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Many LTCs do visit these clubs and lots of other clubs, however it is up to you to go there, hang out and find them, Im sure if people start poking around there more often we can poke LTC's to hang out getting drunk a bit longer then they do already.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Next question: So, the IRRK Newswire, did you gave up on that project?
[Vicinity] Pheats: No not really... we've used it for the articles we've done so far, however due to lack of articles coming in from players theres not really much to put on.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Next question: Any chance to revive the fictional Zigball League and their awesome matches (and maybe actually reveal the official rules of the game)?
[Vicinity] Pheats: I could have sworn the rules were posted on the public forums already... will have to check that. As for reviving the league I guess articles about matches, fans going around waving flags and such? If so definitly something we can look into, but probably wont be a major priority for our team (although if we can get some decent help from others shouldn't be too hard).
[Vicinity] Pheats: Next question: Have you ever considered delivering art related events? Like a poet trying to find inspiration while getting drunk at a bar, a holo-vid actor visiting Rubi-Ka for pr purposes, etc.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Yes we have, and we have lots of them written up and some that are done on a semi regular basis ranging from musicians roaming the streets making shiny music to LTC Poets sitting around feeling blue due to no interaction due to being blue.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Next Question: Any room for yalmaha racing events?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Been there done that, we have these things written up and run once or twice, however lack of participants kind of made people stay away from them. We can certainly see if we can get them out and about again but I dont suggest you expect to see them terribly regularly (there quite difficult events for us to produce)
[Vicinity] Pheats: Next Question: Will we get org adverts on the billboards again?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Would be nice to have shiny adverts for orgs and other IC stuff, but not something events holds any sway over sorry.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Next Question: Will the IRRK News channel return?
[Vicinity] Pheats: It never left... honest... ok it was broken for a long while but its been fixed and back for a month or two now... and we've made some new rules for it that should hopefully mean we can use it more often.
[Vicinity] Feyad: suggests Pheats hides Macrosun's coffee.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Are we going to see a shift and development of the Borealis storyline?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Unfortunatly this is really funcoms thing, I personally have planned something that im going to suggest to them but there word is that they are going to wait untill they have things ready to do it, which I can only guess means they have something planned but no ETA.
[Vicinity] Pheats: And indeed kintaii's been teasing everyone with hints here and there
    [Vicinity] Salivice Its not fair
[Vicinity] Pheats: Also Feyn and Nash would like me to point out that they have been running things in borealis in response to player actions
    [Vicinity] Feynrose nods
[Vicinity] Pheats: Can we see some new hero's for each faction along the lines of what Radiman and Ross were?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Possibly, however were limited by what funcom will allow us for the whole major hero characters, but we could possibly see about poking up some new hope for civilization
[Vicinity] Pheats: Next question: Can we see some dramatic battles and more switching of land control happen, as i keep on saying, "I'snt there a war on or something?"
[Vicinity] Pheats: Can certainly try to do some more dramatic battles but again were limited by resources and player interaction, as for the land control changes, events does not have the ability to change the game in such a way any major land change needs to be done via funcom and is generally unlikely, although I dare say we can poke them to let us do something major now and then and see if they kick us out there office. If you mean notum wars towers, we cannot really get involved in the tower fights directly (aka with STs) without giving certain players unfair advantages.
[Vicinity] Pheats: And as per earlier comments, there has to be a reason behind stuff other then "I dont like the other side rawr!"
[Vicinity] Pheats: Last player question: Can you tell me what kit the BFF uses?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Hmmmm... no, might get leaked to "the man" and let them configure their gear to annhilate the freedom fighters easily! That and I dont actually know their gear offhand...

    Atlantean Log Part Finale

[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok now Nash would like to comment on storylines
    [Vicinity] Pheats pokes nash
    [Vicinity] Nashedra: ouch
[Vicinity] Nashedra: I'd like to say in a few sentences how the storylines are produced currently.
[Vicinity] Nashedra: First, a schedule is drawn, but once the storyline reaches the ingame stage the person handling it adjusts the schedule to your, the players', actions.
[Vicinity] Pheats gets ready with a gag if nash says too much
[Vicinity] Nashedra: That is why the very same storyline can have totally different outcomes on different dimensions.
[Vicinity] Nashedra: So, for every storyline we do we rely *heavily* on you to interact.
[Vicinity] Nashedra: How can you interact?
[Vicinity] Nashedra: You can talk to LTCs (we don't say which LTCs belong to which storyline because it'd basically be out of character for them to do so), you can send In Character emails to events-feedback@ark.anarchy-online.com, you can interact when you see an event going on.
[Vicinity] Nashedra: I can't stress it enough: our storylines are fueled by you, the players. We provide the background for you and you can take as big or as small a part of it.
[Vicinity] Nashedra: If anyone has any questions about any aspect of storylines please feel free to ask, the easiest way is to send an OOC email to events-feedback@ark.anarchy-online.com
    [Vicinity] Nashedra: That is all
    [Vicinity] Nashedra smiles
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Thank you nashedra
[Vicinity] Pheats: I would like to point out that all storylines do have a full plan of whats going to happen, so if you got get involved at all or in very minor ways that will be what happens
[Vicinity] Pheats: er if you "dont" get involved
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok next comment is about sharing information in ooc, feynrose wants this i think.
    [Vicinity] Feynrose Thanks Pheats
[Vicinity] Feynrose: Something that we notice quite a bit of is people not being aware of what we're doing and how they can get involved.
[Vicinity] Feynrose: So we have a request of you, the roleplaying community. That is: share as much information publicly as you possibly can with other people OOC.
    [Vicinity] Salivice glares @ encyros
[Vicinity] Feynrose: We can be a bit overly-concerned with metagaming sometimes, which is a shame because interaction (any interaction) is far more important than the possibility of a role-playing no-no... at least in my opinion.
[Vicinity] Feynrose: We know that, by the very nature of some of our stories, it's not always easy to see what's happening on the inside. But, we want as many people involved as possible.
[Vicinity] Feynrose: So if you collect the info you've gathered about a storyline or an LTC and share it with everyone, then others can see what we're up to and judge how they would like to get involved. We love to see players keeping track of what we're up to: Anything from where an LTC hangs out, though event logs to essays entitled: "How to get involved with X storyline"
[Vicinity] Feynrose: And sharing the info IC can work just as well.
[Vicinity] Feynrose: The more people we get involved the better, and the more initiatives we can get into a storyline. Remember: You *are* the storyline and you can be as involved as you like with it. We love to see initiatives, so help eachother out and get eachother involved with what we're all up to.
    [Vicinity] Feynrose: Thanks.
    [Vicinity] Feynrose smiles
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Thank you feynrose
[Vicinity] Pheats: On this topic I would like to point out some things that I've seen players doing that I feel are good ideas
[Vicinity] Pheats: the "meanwhile on rubi-ka thread" this is a great way to post information indirectly and in characterly
[Vicinity] Pheats This thread on AO-Universe http://www.ao-universe.com/viewtopic.php?t=3439
[Vicinity] Pheats: That is a great help to all those getting into roleplay, and that thread has quite a bit of whats happened in that story (albeit not all, still lots of info missin)
[Vicinity] Pheats: While we in events cannot tell you this information, having some sort of public record helps not only you players get involved, but lets us see what people know
[Vicinity] Pheats: Specially if you start putting player storylines in such things (because then we can sneakily get involved)
[Vicinity] Salivice: mutters we know you know that we know what you know about us knowing.
[Vicinity] Pheats: And these LTC trackers and global channels, great way to get involved and pass information
[Vicinity] Salivice: great so I can start stalking turms??
[Vicinity] Pheats: And now that were allowed to get LTC's into the odd channel that fits there characters theres less and less chance of missing them completely (granted some are still not allowed in them)
    [Vicinity] Pheats: You can try
    [Vicinity] Salivice: >
[Vicinity] Pheats: Thats all from me on this...
[Vicinity] Pheats: Gimeplien you want to comment?
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: Just on the player stories
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: i have heard there is a new ltc in newland that i guess it based on the leet protection agency
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Possibly
[Vicinity] Pheats: Might not be JUST that though
[Vicinity] Gimpeline: i have never seen him , so i just wonder if he is there or it is just a rumor
[Vicinity] Pheats: He is there, but I will have to check how active the person playing that is
    [Vicinity] Gimpeline: ah, ok
    [Vicinity] Ariensky: Heal please
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok well thats the end of what we had perpared, only 2 hours longer then intended...
    [Vicinity] Nashedra giggles
[Vicinity] Pheats: I would like to remind people that the events team is always contactable via email to errr... the address nashedra poked
[Vicinity] Mirura: Well that only shows how devoted we are to this stuff
    [Vicinity] Pheats: posted*
    [Vicinity] Salivice: yah my bad ^.^;
[Vicinity] Pheats: Any questions you have feel free to mail us and we'll try to respond
[Vicinity] Dabblez: So, same time next week?
[Vicinity] Agrestus: Oh, Devdas said i'd get coal for christmas because i'm a naughty RPer... I never got my coal
[Vicinity] Ariensky: This might have been covered before, but to be sure I'd like to ask: what are teh limits of ARK event events?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Also if you have any questions you didn't get to ask but want us to have a good read over, then mail them to us and we'll answer them in tommorows meeting
[Vicinity] Salivice: Hey, what do *I* get for xmas? T.T
    [Vicinity] Mirura smacks Salivice
[Vicinity] Pheats Depends which limits you are talking about Ariensky
    [Vicinity] Mirura: there you go
[Vicinity] Ariensky: If you have been over it, just say "read teh log"
    [Vicinity] Salivice: *tear*
[Vicinity] Nashedra: The email address should be: events-feedback@ark.anarchy-online.com
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well kinda need to know what sort of limits your asking about
    [Vicinity] Eeod: speed limits?
[Vicinity] Pheats: for example we can't change spawn rates, scripted spawn mobs, gas levels etc
[Vicinity] Ariensky: I am talking about things like involving storyline charecters, OT-policies and regulations.
[Vicinity] Pheats: Oh those we work on the info given to us by funcom
    [Vicinity] Feyad: raises hand.
[Vicinity] Ariensky raises a hand too
    [Vicinity] Encyros raises an eyebrow
[Vicinity] Pheats: For example if funcom decides the ICC is going to punish Omni-tek by selling the planet surface to other factions in response to overly aggressive stances then we have to go along with that
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ok feyad?
[Vicinity] Feyad: Just wanted to say thanks to response on the e-mail I sent you on "Tickets" <eyes Eeod> Any more info on that?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Unfortunatly not much to say yet, need to have a sit down with kintaii about it.
[Vicinity] Pheats: And been busy organizing other things and such, I will send a reply when I have a definite answer
    [Vicinity] Feyad: thank you (done)
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Ariensky?
[Vicinity] Ariensky: The thing I think locks down what we can do and what is doable in Bod(Board of Directors) is the rules are so stiff. We need a permission to deal with Newland, and the directors very seldomely come with information, leaving us the players with, as I see it very little to do, apart from talking about which coffe is best, baboons or Rompa bar.
[Vicinity] Encyros: It's The Cup and you know it...
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well permission can always be gotten by emailing a request to events-feedback@ark.anarchy-online.com
[Vicinity] Eeod starts to look realy worried
[Vicinity] Pheats Directors tend to rely on you players to get information
    [Vicinity] Salivice: excpet for MAX's
[Vicinity] Pheats: And personally I enjoy EIWIL's coffee
[Vicinity] Pheats: Well MAX is a computer, and as such has access to WikiGrid, which as we all know, knows all
[Vicinity] Ariensky: Thank you for that reply I will write when I get time.. On the information bit.. well so we are just supposed to make things up, as there _are_ no real information to be gathered..?
[Vicinity] Pheats: Information can generally be gotten by asking people questions
[Vicinity] Pheats: More often then not you just need to talk to a few LTC's
[Vicinity] Pheats: Specially if were talking about gathering info for storylines
    [Vicinity] Salivice: by the way
[Vicinity] Pheats Thats what some LTCs where made for, to give you information that you can't get other ways
[Vicinity] Salivice: can you tell us if the rumors taht Validius Hunt and MAX are the same person are true?
[Vicinity] Ariensky: *goes on witht eh rant* well if I see an LTC what is the IC reason to talk with that person? IC I would not know they are special..
[Vicinity] Pheats coughs a cough that sounds awfully like such as the investigator
[Vicinity] Pheats: Max is not Validius Hunt
[Vicinity] Salivice: right... suuuure he isn't....
[Vicinity] Pheats: IC reason is that your investigating and asking questions to anyone
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok last few questions before I head off and fail to get these logs posted for 3-4 weeks
[Vicinity] Velysia Pheats is right, I can confirm he's not MAX =P
[Vicinity] Salivice: You'd say that anyway!
[Vicinity] Pheats Thats a joke by the way, I'll get them up tommorow
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Any last questions?
[Vicinity] Pheats: .g events you know this meeting hall doesnt show up on participation list? means can't technically kill them all... although that said im sure theres enough not signed up for it to be a "random zone event"....
    [Vicinity] Pheats: Err...
    [Vicinity] Salivice lols
    [Vicinity] Feynrose laughs
    [Vicinity] Pheats smiles innocently
    [Vicinity] Agrestus: I saw nothing
    [Vicinity] Nashedra whistles
[Vicinity] Pheats: Ok, thank you for attending this meeting, once again feel free to email events-feedback@ark.anarchy-online.com with any questions you have for us

This is the first ever meeting I've missed in years, Unfortunately real life got in the way and I was unable to attend.

Some of it are pretty much repeat efforts from previous meetings "yes we gonna try to do that", others are things which are basically run by FC which they have little or no influence in (like signing up for events through your account, 100% PvP control, etc) and others are "we'll look into it" which is heard every year.

However I think this time around they shared more info regarding what FC limits them on so we know a bit more as to why they can do some things we would love for them to do.

I'm extremely disappointed regarding the green name issue. Events Team requested the change to blue... no offense but.... do you guys actually participated in the old-school events when LTC and ST's were green and they were MOBBED... and I mean dozens of players would FLOCK to you and word of mouth would FLY.

"Greenie" was a nickname we the roleplayers gave you, something to LOOK OUT for. Now... blue name, we keep walking, they doesn't stand out unless such "npc" actually addresses someone by my name, which would pretty much require someone to STOP to be talked to. We've gotten used to blue npcs, and we run PAST them.

Isn't it REQUIRED from a managerial point of view to get every LTC and ST's as visible and recognizable as possible?

"there is no intention to change back", where there is a will, there is a way. If we signed a petition, I would bet that a large percentage of the roleplaying community would sign it to change them back to green name so we can jump you again.

What I did like to read was that you want us to email you in-character, which is something that may lead to getting to know the LTC's better.

Regarding the main storyline, yeah, it's dead and only temporarily brought back to life (or fixed) when an expansion/booster pack comes out. The days of Ross and Radiman walking among us and getting 50-100 people to show up are gone. I have no idea why in the past the events team could handle it, and now they can't.

I will admit that LoX did sorta patched some of the storyline, mostly regarding the DB.

Here is an idea... call me nuts. my guess is that about 1-2 ARK's do an event, with 3 or more for the larger ones which is once every 1-2 years. Why not to a detailed write-up after an event is over and publish is through Editor News as an article?

As in, "this is how it started, then ST/LTC X and ST/LTC Y did this, then player A,B,C did this and this is how it all worked out".

Okay, so this is like a week late, but it occured to me one thing the Ark LTC could try is travelling in packs. Rather that just sending on LTC on his own and hope some players sees and approaches him, maybe the should pair up. The idea being (1) it is a little less boring/lonely for the LTC so they might stay on longer (2) if the LTCs are talking to each other it might actually be easier for a player, overhearing the conversation, to join in.

Then again you already do this.
