what is the purpose for the perception skill other than scopes?

i've heard mixed opinions, but no one seems to know for sure...

you use perception when using the "search" function i.e. searching for traps, concealed agent gankers etc

It allows you to use things like the "how much life does this mob have?" meter.

It improves your chances of finding traps.

It improves your chances of detecting sneaking players.

To find traps, or get an extra check to see a hidden player, you need to hit the search button.

In the upper right corner of your screen, click the the little fist. Now you've got a little window of icons, like walk, sit, start combat, etc.

The magnifying glass is search. Right click to search.

Well, finding hidden players is both passive AND active. (Oooooh.)

You have a chance to detect (for example) Sneaky Pete the Leet whether or not you actively search. But you get more chances when you search. (I think it's just MORE chances, but maybe it's BETTER chances.)
