I believe this should be an issue for the bulletin boards... I, along with countless others, never heard of this bug and thankfully now we know. So before I go out and bust my hump trying to get items for combining, I can take this into consideration. Thanks to MD for posting and shame on Funcom policy.

Ah, the aptly named Huh thread .

I believe the poster is refering to the Major Bug thread. I actually have some issues with that thread, myself. It seems more focused on the launcher than on the bug itself. It misleads into thinking that all tradeskills are effected, when that isn't the case. It also doesn't include specific cases, just makes vague illusions to terrible things that might happen. Luckily for us, someone did make a thread in on the Bug board to list specifics regarding when and how this happens.
