Armor Just what is the story with AC

Okay

I experiment full armor ac 4k attack mob with fist so I do no damage

let mob hit me for awhile hits average 118pts of damage

Same mob take off half of armor ac 2k attack mob with first blah blah blah everything same as first test same exact mob

let mob hit me for awhile hits average 150pts of damage

so I lower my ac by 2000 pts and damage only goes up by 32 pts

so it seems like for every 700 pts of ac you stop 10 pts of damage

someone explain this to me it dont make sense

I believe the ratio is 10 points of AC = 1 point less damage.

However, you can never force an attack below the minimum damage for that weapon. This means the AC becomes useless eventually. You could have 10K AC but once you hit minimum, that's it.


I think FC should make it so that you can force attacks (at least in PvM) below minimum, but it takes 50 AC per point of reduction.

This would help make AC buffs/parry shields more useful than they are now.

If you believe that 10 AC takes away 1 point of damage, here is a possible explanation:
For both cases, the damage that you quoted is only an average. This means that the mob is probably not always hitting the minimum, even for 4k AC. But for 4k AC, the mob has a higher chance to do minimum damage, that's why the mob hit you less on average. You may think that if you change from 4k AC to 2k AC, you should get 200 points of damage more on the average. This is true only if none of the hits are minimum damage.
