Funcom, too many restrictions ruin PvP

Many people like PvP and use it to break away from the unavoidable repetitiveness of MMORPGs in general.

However in AO, the PvP system is so hampered by restrictions such as level restrictions, safe zones (inside political areas), and lack of incentives that it barely allows anything to be done through PvP.

Many people fear or do not like PvP because it is commonly associated with grief playing, however there is a lot of people out there who do not grief play, but just enjoy the challenge of facing another person on the battle field.

When looking at some of these restrictions they hardly make any sense as to why they are there (in and out of story).

    Level Restriction:
This is designed to protect weaker players from being slaughtered by stronger players.

A good intent but really prevents a lot of capabilities with PvP, one main capability is the ability to effectively "hold" an area. Cannot be done when someone who is a "pvp minor" if you will, can just walk right next to you and ignore any threat of danger because he is too weak. (These areas are supposed to be dangerous, if he wants to stroll around, there are plenty of safe zones to do so in)

Also, knowing that an area is "dangerous" beyond outsmarting computer AI can be very exciting.

    Safe Zones:
I have no idea why these even exist.

I am not talking about natural safe zones such as Omni Trade, etc. I am referring to patches of 75% gas in political zones such as Meetmedere.

These serve no purpose at all, they just ruin the aspect of Meetmedere (and other political zones) being dangerous territory. All 75% zones should be removed from political areas, and buildings within political zones should also be political inside.

    Incentives:
Right now, there are very few incentives to PvP...players do not give exp and rarely ever drop items. These features are great to allow newer people to not feel so terrified and hateful towards the PvP scene, as they do not have anything (besides pride) should they partake in it.

Some incentives should be created however to promote more PvP and interactivity in this war (amnesty won't last forever).

Some incentives that could be added are:

    1) Great Monster spawns within political zones (but not too unbalancing, just increased rewards)

    2) High paying Missions to political zones, can even create political terminals that only give missions to political zones.

    3) Shops with some unique items available only in those areas, rare trade skill components etc.

    4) Travel convenience, have a whompa that leads to a high traffic zone that can cut travel time a bit...but at the price of safety.

    5) Very Hopeful, ability to take over political cities. My old post detailing an example of some things:

Typical fool who has been gridcamped and believes everyone who enjoys PvP does the same.
