This thread has basically fallen to the status of Temper Tantrum, if FC is good parents, they'll ignore it rather than give in to the demands and kicking and screaming. With any luck the worst of the bunch will run away from home and join the WoW circus.

i don't want to know about if it's fibre optics, if it's some kind of networking cable, i don't care to hear about any specifics. i want to know, as does the community, PLEASE, can we know what are we standing at right now? have you guys successfully made way closer to finish? it's two hours thirty minutes until your final 12 hour downtime was posted...

Hey, all of you whiners and complainers.....lay off, FC is doing what they can do get the servers back up..another few hours of downtime isnt gonna kill you...maybe take the time to go work out or something, god knows that most online RPG players are out of shape. Put down the doritos, get some sun, and let FC's IT do their job. Ive done some server migrations at my previous job, and although at nowhere near the scale I suspect FC's migration is, various "unforeseen problems" happened. That's the thing about "unforeseen problems", you can't plan them into your timeframes cuz you didnt expect them. Now lay off..geez...

80% done on WoW DL. So when servers (supposedly) will be up, i'll be on WoW.
Im down for £10 on another 6 hours though (after the rest of this 12hrs).

i have to start college soon; is why i'm not doing much more than help my fiance out with babysitting^

but i tell ya what... 3 year old girl with a 5 month year old boy, not to mention an 11 and 7 year old pair of sisters = hard as well

nice generalization of RPGers there....currently I'm 15 stone......most of which is muscle from my....JOB.......(u try lifting and placing about around 6 ton of alcohol every shift and see if ure not fit.....yes I'm that nice man in the warehouse that sends the stores all that lovely alcohol u drink)

I understand what your saying, but don't you think ENOUGH people have ran away from ao? :/ Games getting kinda sparse. Hopefully after all the upgrading and such they plan on doing it will pick up.

2) not even Sil seems to know exactly what's wrong, so the 12 more hours to solve it look like another amateurish down time extension

It may be a problem with one of the routers. Maybe Old Athen is now outside Omni-1, defect NIC, fried cpus or, they can find the servers just fine in the network, and they respond to ping, but the have no clue were the *acctual* server is. Is Sil at the location were the servers are being fixed? Doubt so. Then you work with telephones, and his interst would be to ask someone at the location "Well, what can I say to the users?" And they will answer with an estimate.

When upgrading an system like this you must understand that a major error may cause all the vital testing into hiatus, causing an increasing "lag" in the upgrade.
They may fix things pretty fast, but then you are back to testing. And finding new faults.

Honestly I dont really mind missing out on a few days of gameplay..I mean ofcourse I miss playing just like we all do,but I feel pretty confident that they are doing their best (considering its been in planning for well over a year). If it takes a little longer to get things stable on the new server then its no big deal,because it would suck to finally get to login and something goes wrong and then "poof" emergency downtime. An update would be nice I totally agree but aslong as they're trying their best then Im a happy camper
