Thread: Green names at 2HO battle

Question Green names at 2HO battle

Just dropping in before going to play some p&p RPG, and getting a little puzzled by some of the descriptions of the 2HO battle, and the green named people there.

Some say they were 5-10, others say they were 30. Some say they ganked people to oblivion, others say they did 15 damage per shot.

Now, without going into other details about the incident, can people let me just know how many green names were present, and how tough they were?

I'll look into this when at work.

I can only confirm seeing 3. 2 soldiers, one solitus whose name starts with a T, and another, atrox with that omni pol flamethrower AR/SMG hybrid, named something on M.. I also saw one solitus equipped with two alloy staff like weapons, but I only saw his green name for a split second before I had to get away from the crowd.

I fought both of theese, the M guy I had for myself for 10 minutes or so. Since I survived that long I guess they did very little damage. They had superior evades, typically evading 2 out of 3 shots or more. Once I got him to 20-30% health he dropped his weapon and started punching/brawling for "normal" damage. I'm not sure if he switched due to low health, or in order to stop me from killing the omni crat that came by.

I also killed one of theese earlier this week together with 2 guildmates. This one I got screenshots of, as I wasn't required to work as much to stay alive. This one was named Lieutenant "Treggar" Welding. He also dumped his weapon when we got him to low health. This one took 3 of us, all high level and fairly high damage classes, about 4 minutes of constant shooting to kill. This was both due to the superior evades and a pretty large ammount of hit points. This Treggar person could very well be the same one that appeared today.

so where did the number 30 come from? Some panicking clanner scared out of his socks?

No centurion, i will tell you where that came from. The '25 or 30' came from me because i was in a big battle for a long time and as time went on there was more and more ARKs spawning. I seriously have no idea how i survived anyway, i was so lagged but i could still see what was going on. Sort of like a slow death since i ended up going LD shortly before it ended.

I was there the whole day. I know. I was in the 25% bunker near the hill & Ron McBane with Vergil and Kilvus when they decided to spare me because of the BS going on outside. I had first noticed it when Vergil made me zone out of the bunker after nuking me, i looked over the fence and i saw over 15 ARKs in battle suits and omni pol armor, recruit-issue (white?) and omni-elite. Of course, the guy in omni elite and the name that starts with a 'T' coldstrike is referring to is Tennek. These guys played meatshield and escorted everyone from 10-3 in. Clanners on the hill were scared out of their socks and trying to hit them was futile since they had insanely high HP, 100% nano resist(I couldnt get off roots, snares, debuffs, traders couldnt divest.), no-weakness armor (chem didnt do anything to omni elite) even for the greys, yellows, and oranges i saw. We got pushed back to the bunkers in 2ho, and the guys in the battle suits remained as well as players. Most folks got gridded out, i gridded out as well when there was 50 omnis ARK and Player surrounding us. Mostly everyone left. Then we came back an hour later when the ARKs started to die down. And they came again soon after, but only for a shorter period of time. This time it was atroxes in Recruit-Issue armor, and the infamous Tennek. Many of the characters had similar names and as soon as we took down one, 3 more came. We took out another, more and more just kept flowing out of the bunker. After we waited a little while, we went back and retook 2ho. I saw an incident happen with an omni player and an ARK in a bunker but i won't get into that in this thread. We had 2ho for about 30 minutes, and on the other side of the 2ho whompa, in 10-3, i saw an amazingly big group of omnis buffing up getting ready for what i knew would be the 'tet offensive' of the evening. All i saw there was players. We numbered about 25 clanners on the hill, camping the whompa, waiting for omnis to come in. Then, Tennek came in. And after that, the atroxes, over and over again until there was so many, omni players came in. I guess being that we got wiped out the first time and not the second, we knew what to do and aim for the players. We held up a bit more of a fight than before, but everyone ended up dying or zoning to the bunker. I won't complain about this but all those ARKs caused so much lag even if their damage output was low. People with cable and dsl i talked to said they had terrible lag as well, finally i crashed, and when i relogged in corpses all around the whompa, hill, bunkers, and omnis were all sitting around the bunkers telling each other 'Don't attack karmacappa!! Stop shooting!' I found out this 'karmacappa' was a GM. level 300. I had no idea what he was doing there, i still don't. Not even the omnis knew why he was there, that still remains a mystery to everyone there last night. After that night 2ho was pretty much over. A lot of people were pissed off at what happened the whole day, but there was still a few small skirmishes later after midnight between solely players. The way it should be.

That is my full account of 2ho last night, and i can tell you that anyone who was in 2ho as long as i was yesterday will agree with me that it was not just '3' ARK omnis, but rather invasions in rows of 3 spontaneously. Some had short intervals, some had long intervals, the whole way it worked was pretty strange to me. I'm sure different stories could be heard by people who didnt spend the whole day there, died early on, or went linkdead. If it really was '3 ARKs' the whole day it would not have been at all a problem for clanners to ignore or even kill these characters.

For the record, i have 3 guildmates that saw a behemoth and some omni units in 2ho last week, one behemoth was charmed and it was deleted and respawned with aggro. I eventually checked it out, some of my friends were there too. I was a bit late, i only got to see the last behemoth before it mysteriously 'despawned.' It had a green name, too. And was hitting for 900, according to a doc guildy of mine. The ARK units were still a pain but not really much of one compared to last night. Was fun the first time, not the second when the so-called 'event' was really just an unbalanced slaughter.

I saw at least four... three soldiers in omni elite, and one very large guy in a battlesuit. At various times I saw others, but then the first were gone. I saw at least 5-10 different NAMES/CHARS but it appeared that when/if they died, they would spawn back under different characters/npcs.

As for how tough they were: they seemed to hit for low damage (though I can say I only drew fire from a couple) but they had amazing defensive skills. Not once in my entire PvP career have I ever seen curse countered twice in a row... but a SOLDIER in ELITE armor did it (I won't even bring up the AMS vs DMS chances of that happening).

I chased that soldier around for a good 40 seconds, did a full alpha for at least 1k damage, my pet bashed away at him for the entire time, and I nuked twice (one was countered). That's at least 2k damage. He was around 90% (hp bar apparently wasn't bugged) and when I looked again, he was back to full. I took no reflect damage during this time, indicating that TMS was not active.

As they had such amazing defensive skills combined with huge HP, they were simply meatshields. Having green names meant they drew a LOT of fire, which allowed omnis who could deal real damage to pick us off with ease. After bashing on that soldier for quite a while, I was drained by a trader, then hit four times for over 1k damage.

Feel free to read our couple of posts Cz. Stromm and I both told our stories from the slaughterhouse as well as we could.

On a side note: it is worth noting that they were unaffected by grace periods.

The ones I fought were working under normal grace period rules. At least they never attacked til I was out of grace.

i was on omni, but only saw 2-3 at max (got there a little late), the solitus and the atrox, they appeared to do VERY little dmg, take very little dmg, healing them didnt work either

think they were there mostly as.. icons and to shout

also saw them at the arena trying to round up people - same as the last time this type of event was going on, but that time there was alot of clan chr's in 2ho too

    nano resist

This is probably irrelevant, but I can attest to the nano resist of the event characters. I was going one-on-one with one of the green-named soldiers, and since it was doing such miniscule damage, I was able to sit there for a good 2 minutes chaincasting my init debuffs and not be in much immediate danger of dying, trying to land just one.

I tried over 25 times. Not one landed.

Intended or not, it's still stupid. I feel sorry for professions who rely more heavily on landing nano programs on their enemies during combat.

If its the event several days ago, then it was one yellow (was there with my level 170 crat) and 3 grey ARKs and 2 Goliath Jauggernaughts, which I charmed both

They came several times, but I don't think anyone ever died, as they never chased anyone nor did real damage, they even asked me for my ID while I tried to charm their nice pets and I evaded their questions pretending to look for the ID (I am clan) until I finally charmed the Goliath

They didn't even attack me first, I thought it was funny.

    As I posted elsewhere:

There were 3 ARK there. All Omni. All did pretty low damage. They gathered Omni players in Omni-1 and led them in through the whompas. Eventually word spread to other Omni orgs who started sending people in, and that's about when Omni started retaking control.

    Hi guys,

Whatever interest I may have had in a storyline when I started playing AO was beaten out of me quite some time ago. Having Funcom-modified opponents in 2ho or Camelot removes value from what is already a questionable PvP experience.

I honestly have no issue with seeing green names if GMs/ARK want to play. However, I expect these to be realistic opponents. Create a legitimate character, give him 180 levels or what not, spend the IP as a player would, and equip armor and a weapon as a player would. Then slap a green name on him and come join the fun as a legitimate participant. We'll buff you and all that and you can enjoy the game as we (attempt to) do.

Please don't come into our environment with godlike characters, disrupt our war, and call it storyline.
