Cobol is still around because people are too cheap to throw away the machines it runs on. Of course that's probably why I still have a job because the only other people who remember this dinosaur have retired already.

Doh. Just realised that I remember maintenance on our first hard disks (containing COBOL sources ofc ... some 128 kb's of it) was done with a can of machine oil and a new rubber belt.Cobol is old because it was good enough to get old

Judging from the error messages and window messages using process reading programs, I'd say that AO is written in some variant of C++.
