Thread: Should the CoT hand over it's own?

Should the CoT hand over it's own?

This could end up being a pretty nasty situation. As we've already seen, Omni obviously wants control of these people, since a secure Grid feed was refused. However, the Council cannot flat out deny Omni's request, or Omni-Pol will come into Tir and take who they're after.

The Council needs to make an effort to meet Omni-Pol's request, else the resistance that will result when Omni-Pol comes into Tir will not be completely justified.

My solution is to require Omni-Pol to open it's investigation to the Council of Truth as well as allow CoT delegates to accompany the wanted individuals to Omni HQ in order to monitor their treatment and questioning. There is no reason Omni should deny this request, as it would certainly avert an obvious confrontation.

Skip the politic and hand over the terrorists!! Simple as that! Omni-Pol wants them and they will get them!!

If you "skip the politic" then you will only edge closer to war again.

The Tir Accord is all about politics. While I believe the Tir Accord is a farsical document it was still signed by both parties. CoT needs to make every effort to abide by the Accord while still retaining some dignity. If there is to be ANY hope for this planet then aggreements that are negotiated in good faith need to be self-enforced in good faith.

However the Tir Accord needs to be re-negociated at the first opportunity. This is why the CoT needs to be removed from power. Not violently but still needs to be dismantled. Only when CoT is gone and OT tosses the Tir Accord out will we have room to re-negotiate an agreement that is fair and just.

The CoT would be obliged to hand over their employees if Omni-Pol were to file specific criminal charges against said employees. However, in the absence of charges, it is not required to turn them over under the Tir Accord, at least as I recall reading it.

An alternative that is supported by the Tir Accord and which the CoT might be willing to accept is that Omni-Pol could send detectives to the CoT building as part of the investigation and question the employees in a secured room there.

All Omni grand-standing aside, I think the Tir Accord is with the CoT on this one. Omni would do best to stick to the rules as Mr. Ross has suggested.

The Omni-Tek police department (Omni-Pol) will be allowed to run routine investigations inside the Council-allocated districts in the interest of national security.

No Council or affiliated personnel within the boundaries of Council-allocated districts may be available for Omni-Pol questioning without the prior consent of the Council.
This basically means that Omni-Pol doesn't have a leg to stand on. Unless Omni-Pol can convince the CoT that it's a good idea to hand these people over, the CoT has no reason to, and in fact, should not. It would set a very bad precident, as was said in today's release. Omni-Pol is more than welcome to come over and poke around in Tir with the CoT's approval and monitoring, but hands-off all citizens unless we tell you otherwise.

It was actually a very gracious offer made by the CoT to allow Omni-Pol to interview the people in question via Grid feed. They had no reason to do it, and it shows that the CoT went that extra step in the name of cooperation. Now lets see Omni make a similar effort at compromise.

I think one of the main problems is the Clan have no police of it's own. The CoT should start thier very own Clan-Pol. This way a set of laws can be created and enforced. Then the clan won't have to be bothered with anymore Omni-Pol intrusions and can police it's own people.

The Council does have some sort of military force, hence the guards in all Council cities.
