Well if we determined men were gay every time they wanted a woman to shave, procreation would be non-existant. It goes both ways. Having hair on your chest doesn't make you any more manly. The last thing I want to be reminded of when looking at a guys chest is gnarly sweaty armpitt hair, and that's usually what it resembles. If you're so against doing a little man-scaping, then you should also avoid the barber's like the plague and leave that uni-brow so many men seem to have by default.

I cant believe I've stayed up until nearly 6am arguing about body hair. lawl.

Whats wrong with armpit hair? Personal hygeine should take care of any smell. Men are supposed to be hairy. Women are the smooth sex. If you have hair in places where its not supposed to be (relating to the majority) then shave it or wax it, in this case that unibrow. Im talking about beards and bodyhair that most men have and having to shave because some women have lesbian desires and want the man to be smooth :P

Why are women "supposed" to be smooth? As far as I've always been aware, we all evolved from chimps, thus making any body hair completely intentional. It has nothing to do with these fantasies you have of "lesbian desires" Women shave their legs because we have evolved to utilize clothing, making any hair there unnecessary. Just as hair on a man's chest serves no real purpose either. There's the added bonus that it is more visually appealing to men for the same reason that a hairless chest is more visually appealing to women. And while I'm sure it would be ideal to many ladies for men to shave their legs and pits as well for the sake of symmetry-we know fully well that will never happen. So settling for the removal of tufts on a man's chest giving them the appearance of having some sort of mange, will often suffice.

I don't get women who are so picky they 'must' have smooth men...

I mean, that's a no-go period for me. I'm not crazy hairy (luckily just my older brother is), but overall pretty hairy. A full thick beard in a week, plenty of dark leg hair, etc...

If I had to shave my chest, then I would look like a complete idiot having slightly hairy arms, hairy legs, etc... to me it seems all or nothing and I'd rather keep hair and not look like a child

Mid 20's. He's ethnically Jewish though, and I'll agree that when his hair gets a bit longer he looks noticeably younger. Though I don't think I've ever encountered anyone who would mistake him for 16-he's a friggen big guy >_>

Last I checked I was born with hair on my legs and it keeps coming back, but I shave it, why? Well that's the way it's been for however long, you growing up and your taught to shave your legs. It's expected of woman, and people find it disgusting and unattractive if we don't shave our legs; why? It's no different then a guy not shaving. It's hair that we're born with that we just let grow.

The answer is, those "magazines". It's long been a, popular and proper thing to do, society has evolved around the idea that woman aren't proper unless their legs are shaven. In the beginning, before this mass supported stereotype, woman didn't shave. (*gasp, horror, shock*)

Just like men today. So why is it so hard to believe or understand that woman may like men to shave parts of their body too? Woman shave because men like us that way, why can't men shave because woman like them that way?

Now I ain't saying I mind, or that I'm gona go on strike and not shave till men do. Just answering the question as to: 'getting' woman who are picky about their men and shaven hair. The answer is the same as why men are picky about woman shaving. Answer that for yourself and you'll know why some woman may like you more if you were shaved.

It's certainly not difficult to understand, and your entire post is 100% correct.

However...

Standards set by society is exactly the key point here. If we all grew up in a world where women didn't normally shave their legs, we would think it weird if they did.

I grew up in a world where men don't normally shave their chest. By the same logic, I think it's weird when they do.

But I certainly won't deny the attraction exists. I think it's weird for a guy to like hairy women, and on the same token I think it's weird for a woman to like shaved men. (and this is coming from a purposefully bald dude)

While I can't deny the unnatural irony of it all, I can't change the way my preferences and opinions were formed over the course of my life simply because it's fundamentally unnatural. It's unnatural to wear deodorant, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop. And I'm certainly not going to start shaving my chest.
