Well, for one you get to hold it.
Skill bonuses, set by the guild leader.
Wasn't there some talk about mining outposts as part of the held land?
If so, then income would be a natural part of this, probably sent straight to the guild-bank.
And, it would make it much more of a contest holding notum-rich areas, encouraging conflict for the possession of natural resources.
