    Human Cloning is back!

I was under the imporession that research into human cloninbg was illegal. It did not work, the results were messy.

However just now I was fortunate enough to witness several clones of Omni-Pol's
Master Bahirae Seruguisu parading in Borealis.

Does that mean that the restrictions have been lifted? Can I go back to running my own human cloning experiments to create a perfect, stable cyborg organism? What a fantastic way to start the year that would be!

Those unfortunately are not clones, but are robotic copies.

There is no easy way to explain it, but I am around ninety to ninety-five percent cybernetic implants, replacements and enhancements, what one might regard as a 'soul' is likely long gone, infact is now mostly intuitive programming and adaptive systems.

The cloning process cannot be done successfully as has previously been stated and documented since it requires a soul, and since souls can't be copied then there's no easy way to go about it.

You are however able to create copies of robots as I'm sure R.U.R are well aware.

They were very lifelike for robots, I am impressed. Though I guess the remake about power cells running low towards the end should have been a dead giveaway.

Oh well, the human cloning lab stays sealed for now. But it's never healthy ban reseach.

first y'all make Troxian and Nanomages.. That's not good enough for you you just have to mess around and try to make *shudder* more Soli? no the ban *so* needs to stay.

I hear organ farming, which could be considered to be a form of a cloning, is very big off world.

I would hope that dabblez doesn't get some sort of strange idea to try and creat life using novictum and notum or attempt to incarnate one of the spirits of the shadowlands... that would be too strange.

...Don't give Dabblez any funny ideas Berael....Her crazy idea about draining the metawater in the Adonis Abyss is more that enough

The inability to make identical clones doesn't prevent you to make cyborg copies. Or growing a new lifeform by copying a sample, to allow it to have it's own soul, such thing is too costy however and seriously why would we want to do that when you can make a bloodthirsty battle machine instead.

I am always surpised at how timid and conservative Rubi-Kans are. Considering that this whole world is the result of terraforming on a massive scale, should we draw the line at draining the Abyss? Bio-engineering has produced races on Rubi-Ka faster, stronger and smarter than what Mother Nature had to offer, and yet we are told this is how far as it should go?

And Boltgun, who ever mentioned battle machines? I can think of much better uses of cloning technology. Consider this: clone the brain of one of the world's greatest chefs. Put these brains into tireless, efficient robotic bodies and you can the basis for a really superior restuarant chain.

Hate to say it, but with Dabblez here. Research is research, and the endeavor to create a safer, better, and more peaceful Rubi-ka has to be supported using whatever research is necessary. But the use of good research in things like this, can't be applauded or condoned.

I doubt anyone who's served on the frontlines in any form of combat hasn't more implants put around thier bodies as it is? let alone all the other augmentations we've all done to ourselves or had "others" do to us. Direct linkage from our NCU into our brains? head implants? eye implants? everything else implants?

Or us Nano-Techs our very close and very personal relationships being linked so completely with our cyber decks which have connections throughout all systems of our already, highly specialised nanomage bodies to control the flow of notum.

Anyhow, all these things are mechanical aren't they..anyone else along my "wave" length here? *cough* EMP *cough*. And as we know, even organic systems with a high enough EMP will go utterly doolally *grin*.

Yea, mass producing battle machines that can also cook a great turkey for leetmas... or something.

Nevermind, I prefer your idea. Cloning soldiers would put me out of work, who the hell would want an army of me since one have been unbearable already.

The pursuit of knowledge by scientific means, in no way matches up against the arrogance that suggests that human breeds can account for every variable found in natural systems, or project far enough all the consiquences of far reaching actions. The terraformed zone on Rubi-Ka, far from making up the space of entire planet, is also lacking in perfection seeing has the effort of human breeds must be continuously spent to cull the populations of wild mutant creatures who have no natural predators, and the weather must be rigorously shoved into very specific confines to enable certainly life forms to exist here. This is a burden our forebearers have placed on us because they decided that they would push a head without full comprehension of their actions. History is filled with examples of 'progress' that is well meaning, and certainly useful, but ultimately harmful to not only people but the worlds and environments that foster the lives of those people.

RUR's Plan to attempt to drain the Adonis abyss seems like moonbeams and fairy magic as best since their process that is said to turn deadly meta-water into normal physical water is not public domain, nor has it been peer reviewed by the galatic community of scientists. It could further bring serious hardship on not only all the people of Rubi-Ka but onto Omni-Tek as well if the project fails and meta water poisons the entire terraformed zone.

This is the very reason why this would fail, seeing as the seat of human knowledge does not lay within the mind alone, but is also supported by the soul itself. If this isn't obvious, insure yourself and have a friend shoot you in the head a couple days latter, while the signifigance of certain events may be hazy to you, you will recall events vividly. No machine intellegence developed thus far has the grace and adapability that a person has, this is because it lacks a soul. Tireless machines, programed with the knowledge of a thousand chefs would still be only as good as a bronto processing factory because they lack that fundimental adapability and connection that allows them to make something truly gourmet.

Ethics must not be ignored in scientific pursuits. Once we abandoned care for other humans to pursue 'what ever research is nessicary' we not only abandon our humanity, but our sanity. No human made 'goal' can ever match the wonders of reality. As scientists, it is our job to exmine the universe and understand its processes; not simply so that we can make a better gun or robot, but so that we can know when one is not nessicary.

NCUs, Implants, and nano machines are well understood technologies and their implications have been heavily researched for an un-told amount of time. There are literaly hundreds of millions of peer reviewed articles on all of those subjects from researchers all over the universe. This is hardly the case with such endevors like draining the adonis abyss, where we know precious little about the full range of meta-water properties, let alone the effects of it on the adonis environment. We hardly even understand the mechanism that allows notum to make nano machines respond with almost sentient like precision to our will, where nano programs previous to the advent of notum required years of production and development to produce even the most elemental effects.

Science is not about some mythical progress; nor is it about making our lives better; and it still isn't about controling the world around us. Science a methodology that helps us in -understanding- the processes that are inherit in the natural world.
