As for languages to learn... latin is the most spoken language in the world (including all languages that derive from latin). English is considered the "official" language for capitalists and the free world. Now according to our language specialist here, Chinese is the most spoken language in the world. If you're talking about the sheer number of people speaking it, that may be true considering Chinese reproduce like rabbits. However, the chinese language does not extend beyond China.
