    Math question about skills

    Ok, this is gonna sound wierd, but I am sure there are some math wizards out there that can help me.

    I am wanting to figure up how a base stat modifies a sub stat.

    For instance:

    Matter Metamorphoses is dependent on Intelligence (80%) and Psychic (20%).

    Matt Meta: 293
    Intelligence: 183
    Psychic: 174

    When I buff my Intel and Psychic with boost (12 pnts to each) my Matt Meta buffs up to 296.

    I am wanting to know how this is calculated.

    I tried doing something like this:

    y=((.80*183)+(.20*174))+293

    Now that is obviously wrong.

    Does anyone know what the forumla is for calculating the increase to a sub skill when buffing a base stat?

    First of all, remember that the 293 is not the base skill....it is already increased by int/psy before.

    Anyhow, I'd like to know the answer, too.

    Attributes add one point to a skill for every four points of the attribute.

    If you have 100 points in Intelligence, your base CompLit (based 100% on Intelligence) should be 25 points, assuming you haven't put any IPs into it.

    Let's say you have 100 pts in Int, and 100 pts in Psy.

    MatMet is, as you said, 80% Int and 20% Psy.

    Thus, you get ((100 Int * 0,8)/4) + ((100 Psy * 0,2)/4) = 20 + 5 = 25 pts added to MatMet from ability scores.

    Excellent. Thank you.

    One thing though, why the +5 on the end, it is the same as my /65 "guess". I just made the equation work, but I would like understanding more than a guess on my part. hehe.

    This equation seems to work for me:

    y=((int*0.8)+(psy*0.2))/65+MatMetUnbuffed

    hehe someone forgot his math lessons
    let me break it down for you
    ((100 Int * 0.8)/4) + ((100 Psy * 0.2)/4) = 20 + 5 = 25
    is better looked at like this
    ((100 Int * 0.8)/4) = 20
    ((100 Psy * 0.2)/4) = 5
    there fore
    20 + 5 = 25
    and 25 points is the addition to matmet

    There it is.

    I was reading his equation wrong. I think I made a mistake on math once in '85, bound to have happened again. LOL

    Thanks all for the responses, makes more sense now.
