OTPC: Omni-Tek authorizes armed attendance at meetings

Omni-Tek authorizes armed attendance at meetings
    August 11, 29480 - [Global]

OTPC - In a surprise press release from Omni-Admin this morning, Omni-Tek announced that going forward, the Board of Directors meetings would permit attendees to carry weapons.

"After careful discussion with Mr. Zora and Mr. Zeiler, we have come to the conclusion that allowing individuals to attend the Board Meetings armed poses no threat to the security of Omni-Tek or its personnel," explained Lieutenant General Robert Rosuma of Omni-AF. "Given the location and size of the facility, our personnel have the benefit of speedy control of defense and grid systems, in addition to rapid deployment of troops. There is also of course the direct control over the suppression system."

"I am confident that this will be a gesture of good faith to some of our more militant affiliates," said Director Darius Zeiler of Omni-Admin. "We have been discussing this policy for quite a while now. Really what it came down to is the fact that we respect our affiliates immensely and have given them a considerable amount of trust. I am sure that granting them the privilege of attending in their combat gear will not be an issue -- in fact, it may be a benefit, as it will keep our troops constantly ready to engage the Clan terrorists."

According to the press release, Omni-Tek has "a significant number of options at its disposal to ensure peace and civility are maintained at all times" during the board meetings.

"It is not a display of force," stated Omni-Tek: Rubi-Ka CEO Tarkhan Zora. "The terrorists of Tir and Athen are all well aware of Omni-Tek's military capabilities, and they fear it. We are merely extending a privilege to our hard-working men and women who come to these meetings straight from the field. We grant them the respect of trusting them to walk armed through our cities and neighborhoods -- I'm not about to distrust them and say they can't walk armed in our offices, either."

The press release states that this new policy is "effective immediately," meaning that starting with the upcoming board meeting, weapons are for the first time officially permitted.

And then you should go back to -Reform sponsored school, and find out, first: How to read, and then secondly: What 'control of supression gas' means.

This is a bold step forward and allows many specialist troops and citizens to attend, when previously they could not.

    I'm happy to see this.

Decorum be damned! They're so desperate for attendance that they will tolerate armed goons in power armors at their meetings.

I have to say, this really could be a good thing, Hopefully they will all kill each other in a policy disagreement and save us the trouble.

Once more, clan grunts and frustrated neuts are allowed to speak, and once more their intellect shines like a black hole singularity.

Unlike clanners, most Omni-Tek combat specialists spend weeks preparing and fine-tuning their gear before getting ready for combat.

Because today's Rubi-Ka is not a safe place anymore due to criminal separatists, aliens and mutants, the ancient traditions of the Board of Directors were just put aside in favor of our combat-ready personnel.

If the clans had been pushing for an all-out war, as they did in their invasion of 4-Holes, we would not have to break with centuries of tradition.
Once more, clan selfishness and neutral self-righteousness forces us to break with social graces and allow weaponry in a room dedicated for peace, order and the just guidance of our assets.

    Omni-Tek is your friend.

Once more, We see someone that's been happy playing a little too much with his equipment. This is supposed to be a meeting of directors here, not omnitek's armed locker. If the bosses are not ready to present themselves appropriatly, they could at least have the decency to send out well dressed bureaucratic assistants or secretaries in their place.

But NOOOOOOO..... omnitek directors are so scared they won't even get off their power armors when they go in the latrine!

They're allowed guns at the meetings? ...yea, I can see the logic there. Ross gets show while unarmed, give everyone a gun...someone gets an itchy trigger finger.

BEWM. Zora's dead. And every peace loving Omni has a smoking gun.

I think this is wonderful, if not a bit sad, news. I fully trust and respect the Omni personnel and security forces in the offices, but stepping out unarmed is a different scenario. We do have an excellent security force in the cities but sometimes there just aren’t enough of them. It is a sad part of life on Rubi-Ka that one cannot walk down the street unarmed as misguided clanners with delusions of freeing the planet will try and shoot respectable people. Being able to step out of the office already armed and ready to defend the Omni-Tek way of life will be a great boon to us all.

I applaud this decision, even if it does break from our tradition of peace and respect among hard working Omni individuals.
