    Chacapo's Trader Breed Guide!

Updated Nanomage Section/Added in RE and some more weapon skills because some traders are finding it viable to dual wield with Dreadloch Rapier/et.!
I know there's the huge guide on many things that's rooted, but I find it lacked explaining of the Breeds/it is a bit out of date..

What breed should I use? - A question asked by many, and hope you find this thread useful enough to help you decide which breed you should pick!

    Solitus:
    Advantages:

    Good Health/Nano (3 points of health/nano per 1 point in body dev/NanoPool)

Very evened out abilities: (ability to get in the better symbiants)

Skills for 220 Solitus Trader - No Armor/buffs

                 Root

Duration: 25 seconds Recharge: 4 hours

Total Effect: Area root for all non-neuts for 25 seconds, while rooted will
take 9k damage total after the 25 seconds
    Armor:
Solitus can twink on any of the Alien Armors (ql 300) by Level 220 and keep them out of OE with very little/no problems. Solitus is very open with abilities, therefor able to get on any armor that would be suitable for a trader (by 220)

    Weapons:
No problem here for Solitus or any of the other breeds, but there is an atrox only shotgun, the Diamondine Kick Pistol, but can be upgraded for a 210+ only version usable by all breeds

    PvP:
In my opinion, great breed for PvP Traders at really any level, endgame you get the heal perks, the good hp, and ability to get on symbiants that some other breeds would not be able to twink on. Also your evades are good, and will have no problems getting on Nano Programs.

    PvM:
Same as I think above, great breed at all levels, Solitus has the health, rounded abilities, evades, and nanoskills you need to do everything from solo'ing, to twinking on a good drain at low level. The well-roundedness of Solitus makes it a very viable choice for the Trader Profession at all levels.

And this ends my Portion of the Solitus Breed Guide!

    Opifex:
    Advantages:
Decent Health (3 hp per 1 point body dev), Decent Nano

Not the most evened out abilities for Symbiant twinking and therefor not having the ability to get in the as high symbs as Solitus, but still can do fairly well. *Note* With recent patches with the additions to abilities it is now quite possible for Opifex to match Solitus in symbiants.

    Armor:
Opifex can twink on practically all armors by level 220 that are viable for a trader. Keeping some very high stamina requiring armors out of OE may require a bit of work, but is doable. Overall opifex's have an advantage in this part as most traders by high level are looking to try to get into a set of Sharpshooters at high level, where opifex's shine in is sense/agility.. so it's easy to get on high quality levels of this armor. For tradeskilling traders.. combined scouts has a sense and intelligence requirement, which opifex can twink on no problem too.

    Weapons:
No problem here for Opifex or any of the other breeds, but there is an atrox only shotgun, the Diamondine Kick Pistol, but can be upgraded for a 210+ only version usable by all breeds. Opifex as you can see from the skill layouts for 220, has a bit higher advantage in weapon skills, which could make a difference in getting something twinked on early, but not enough to really say opifex has a huge advantage over other breeds to get weapons on

    PvP:
Quite a viable breed for most levels of trader play, having the decent nanoskills, health, and advantage in evades to definately make them a choice to use. Although I have to say the solitus' AI perks are a bit more focused with trader, the opifex's perks still are useful and can be used to make a fine PvP Trader. Opifex's shine when twinking on Artillery symbiants as they have already the high sense and agility, twinking strength is one of the easier abilities to increase, therefor making opifex reasonable when it comes to twinking on symbiants helpful to trader.

    PvM:
I feel the same as above, Opifex certainly is a viable PvM choice for traders - whether it be low level, or high level.. No major problems getting on any armor, having the much needed evades traders need to make solo'ing possible, and having the nanoskills to cast nanos when the level requirement suits it..

And this concludes my Opifex Portion!

    Armor:
Compared to opifex/solitus, atrox can run into a bit more trouble when twinking into some armors, especially the tier armors of Trader. But overall, Atrox by 220 will be able to get most of the combined armors on viable for trader.

    Weapons:
As basically all of the other breeds, no problem in particular in twinking on weapons, maybe a tad bit disadvantage to the fact won't be able to get as high symbiants on that buff weapon skills as solitus/opifex.

    PvP:
A good PvP choice, mainly for really low.. or very high levels, due to the fact at 220 traders have problems getting some of their perks on target, one being very useful in pvp (vital shock), Atroxes have a big advantage in offensive due to Mongo Rage (but keep note it only lasts 10 seconds, so can be a major waste if you don't time it right), also their hp and not having a major difference in evades in my opinion at the current times, makes them quite viable in PvP. In the lower levels, twinking and getting your higher drains in the Tl2/3-4 up as easily as the other breeds.

    PvM:
Although the health of Atrox is quite nice! I have to say in times atrox may fail to have quite enough evades to make the health work.. overall Atrox can do decent in PvM, but I find that trader is quite dependent on evades and therefor in some situations I think Atrox is at a little disadvantage, but overall still can work fine for PvM/PvP at high level.. as you get into mid ranges the disadvantage is more..

Update!! Nanomage's now are (in my opinion) a pretty good choice for trader at high level due to the 5000 absorb!
Not the worst for trying to get symbiants in, but can be a pain and will not be able to get on as good symbiants as solitus (or even opifex really). *Note with added patches with ability boosts/etc now, it's possible for Nanomages to get into many of the same symbiants solitus' can!*

No problems with Trader Tier armor at all as a nanomage. Will have to twink to get on Combined Scouts/Sharpshooter, but is doable and not very hard keeping out of OE once at 220. Have advantages in getting intelligence/psychic both in buffing items, and nanomage only armor. Some armors for adding nanoskills/abilities are nanomage only, and give nanomage some boosts in armor over other breeds.

    Weapons:
As almost all of the other breeds, can get all of the top weapons viable for trader fairly easily. At lower level due to fact nanomage can get drains on earlier, will have a bit of an advantage in getting higher weapons on at lower levels..

    PvP:
Doable for PvP (better in lower levels), but definately in my opinion one of the worst breeds for high level PvP (although I agree with Syyceria - from my personal opinion, the difference is very small - traders are about the same - no matter what breed). The lack of health, a bit less evades, and lack in some abilities makes them not the greatest choice, one thing though is that the advantage in nanoskills can help you land Plunder/Divest better, - therefor making your defenses greater. ANOTHER advantage now *update update* is that Nanomage's get the wonderful Dreadloch item that gives them 5,000 absorb. The AI perks Nanomages get are not very good, and will not land on decent evasive/nr professions, seeing traders don't need to max every nanoskill ability. The lack in some abilities will hurt at higher level when trying to get symbiants on. The one thing nanomages (especially Omni-tek nanomages) get is Shadowbreed, that is the one thing I see that gives nanomages a good edge for PvP. But the fact it can only be used once every 5 hours.. isn't a good reason to choose nanomage over other breeds. Overall nanomage can still be up to par with the other breeds, and have a better "panic" than all the breeds due to the 5000 absorb ability they were given during LE.

    PvM:
Overall at all levels, nanomage trader can be good in PvM at any level.. at lower levels they have a bit of an advantage due to getting higher drains on mobs. At higher level have a bit disadvantage overall compared to solitus/opifex, but basically can solo as well as a solitus/opifex.

And this ends my nanomage breed portion!

    Hmm, what does this do...
A little thing I learnt about nanomage trader: the trader profession makes several of the advantages of being nanomage pretty irrelevant, while still enjoying the downside. You get great nanopool, but what for? I haven't spent nearly any ip in nanopool anyway, I do fine with 6k because it fills up so fast while fighting. And getting maybe +30-40 in nanoskills of higher intelligence sort of gets lost in the +348 from drains

Only thing that makes me not want to change breed is my cool hat

Reset the IP in nanopool and spent them in something more important. I put mine into Sneak+Perception, for example.

I'm sorry but i have to disagree with you, Chacapo. FIrst of all i do not understand why you even mention the AI breed perks, as they far inferior to other AI-lines that you will perk instead. If you train for example atrox primary, you will lack at defense or offense. I tanked a full MR'd atrox trader alpha, and i was not impressed. Go with Volunteer, Light Artillery and Unknown Factor/champ of nano combat, and you are fine, but don't waste 10 ai perks for useless stuff.

The differences between the high ql symbs aren't that great either. QL270 or 280 symb? Doesn't really matter...the only thing that makes me a bit sad is my ql210 waist, but well, you can't have everything.

So which breed is the best now for 220 trader? I would say that it doesn't matter at all, we all suck the same, but i wouldn't say that nanomage is the worst. And yes, i'd love to fight some of the rk2-trader, the two trader that killed me on rk1 aren't that active any more, and i haven't found other challenges there yet.

I do feel there are some perks in the lines that are of use...

I'll review what I said, and yes traders suck period.. but I certainly don't think that all of the AI perks are useless..

Yes MR helps you land perks, I can see how you can tank a traders alpha, because well our damage sucks.. - I'll review the MR atrox thing..

Also I stated the AI breed perks because it is infact a "difference" between the breeds.. I personally find survival (the soli hot) to be more useful than a DD perk/etc I can't even get to land..

I didn't state the volunteer perk/etc because any breed can use that.. and of course if this wasn't stating differences in breeds.. I would DEFINATELY and highly suggest going into volunteer.. the evades are needed..

Also, showing the perks to people is so they can fit what THEIR preference is, and decide what they want to do.. I normally stated "in my opinion" when I said something like "I think nanomage isn't the best" or so...

This thread isn't all about my bias against certain breeds, I did state my opinion at times.. but I'm trying to show people the differences in breeds.. and therefor they can choose which would they like the best... I stated my opinions as just my opinion..

MR has it's upside and downside.. along with the other perks.. but it's something each breed can choose on differently - and I wanted to show people that so they can decide to fit their preference...

Hope you understand why I did so now.. I do think you're a good Trader and know what you're talking about syy, but understand this is about all the "differences" and to show people the differences to fit their preference...

Yes, but the perks are really no difference, as all trader will have the the same one trained

If you want to tradeskill and sell monsterparts: Nanomage
If you want to PvM: Doesn't matter
If you want to PvP: Atrox Melee Adv ...otherwise doesn't matter. Maybe Atrox has a slightly disadvantage, but maybe that's just my opinion as no Atrox Trader killed me yet.

Well, that's up to the player... I personally will have AI 10 in soli secondary for Survival, but that's just my preference..
