    Rubi-Ka - beautifully empty

Today I ran from Tir to Last Ditch, following the main road. During this trip, I met exactly 0 (zero) people. Still, it was very nice.

Just like the real world then? (if you don't count the cars and planes, and you dont see those here at Rubi Ka since the cars and planes of Rubi Ka is Whompas and Grid )

Guess it will change a bit with 14.5 and the Booster pack (if anyone still play by then...)

I ran from PM to SFH yesterday, never saw a single person and I killed every mob I saw on the way

Was fun tho, found a huge castle in PM that I never seen, after going all the way up all stairs I found a room....with....with...4 vendor machines...why put those there...

was basic med, adv med, basic tradeskills and basic tools...

Else the whole Castle was completly empty..

As much as I love my Yalm and the view from up high I still like to travel and explore on foot, too.

The last person I saw out in the wilds on foot was a Yalm-less Omni who had accepted a mission to Wailing Wastes for an item he wanted. He asked for directions for a safe route past Clan guards and I ended up escorting him from Stret West Bank all the way to Wailing Wastes overland. Had to admire his determination to complete that mission and get his item.

    Cheers.

I run that sort of mission all the time. First time I was scared to death going into a political zone (I'm a neutral Engineer), but so far in my forays into Stret West I haven't seen another living soul. Last night I thought I had, but it turned out to be a small group of fixer mobs (Fresh Dealers) among the blubbags and rollerrats. Guess even rollers need their fix. Perhaps that's why they're so irrational all the time...

Anyway, these days I really don't worry too much, since it seems that the political zones are deserted and no-one hunts the 75% zones these days.

    Cheers,

    ~R~

That castle is a Knight outpost... I remember when i was lvl 20 and found it while exploring... it was neat until the guards raped me... I'm scarred for life!

half the problem is that no one remembers the light of day.... it's mission after mission after mission after mission... if you stand anywhere between the Newland terminals and the BS missions the lag is bad and you see lots of people... sadly that's the only route many players take these days...

On a side note I've spent my last week travelling to Milky Way... been a nice change of pace and I have a Grid Armor MKI and a PPPE Shape Hard Armor to show for my work.

It's nice to hear I'm not the only one doing this kind of thing from time to time. Perhaps if we write down our adventures and explorations, more people will go out and do the same. And perhaps, some day, we will meet others on our journeys.

yeah i hear ya, I am sooo tired of missions.

I am clan and out of sheer boredom went to Lush Fields to find ppl to hunt with, this is where i would hunt with my Omni char i no longer play, used to be packed, was completely empty last nite, i was stunned to say the least.

Team missions are both a blessing and bane, sure they are fine to get items, but they really hurt outside hunting areas.

People don't explore because they don't have to. Between the grids, whompas, and yalms Rubi-Ka appears about as big as a postage stamp. I actually met someone that didn't know how to get to Omni-Entertainment from Omni-Trade without using a grid term or whompa.

Is there nothing out in the wilderness to see? I doubt anyone except for one of FC's worldbuilders could say with any certainty. Most people only care about getting from Scanner A to Spawn/Mission Point B as quickly as possible and never bother to see what's between them. Hopefully, the added dynacamps in the next patch will change a lot of this.

I kinda hope people will stay in missions anyway.

It's been a lot of fun the last couple weekends, when I've gone with teams and spent the entire day wandering around Belial Forest and Deep Artery Valley on foot fighting the big critters, and never seeing another soul. People would clutter up the landscapes, and there'd be fewer eremites for me to tank

    Thumbs up

I always except missions far away and like to hunt on the way and back. (See my sig.) I just bought a ground vehicle and this has made travelling even more fun. But I am the sort that stops to look at the details in the flora and fauna along the route, it takes me forever to level. But thats not why I play. I am an explorer at heart and it blows my mind how vast virtual worlds can be, and how awesome and beautiful the AO landscapes are. The storms are so fabulous, and the excitement of trying to navigate thru a lot of red mobs to get to a goal, it's wonderful fun. I am very happy that the new dynacamps are coming, because maybe I won't have to do missions at all!

People have tried that at various times on these boards. Myself, Inocybe, Nynx and some other Advys the main ones ... The problem is it never really has any effect.

My opinions have changed over the months. When i was still new i couldnt believe that people didnt want to get out and about. I was shocked that people never saw the world outside the cities. More than once i've seen level 100+ and even 150+ people looking shocked at seeing an Eremite for the first time ... or some creatures that are even more common.

Basically over the months its gone from disbelief to acceptance now. The true Advys gave up trying to preach their ways because not many people listened or cared ... And at the end of the day thats fine. People will do whatever pleases them, and if they are happy surrounded by walls then so be it Who am i to tell em that they are missing out? They genuinely might not care foir all i know

And also as Jynne said - Seeing too many people as ya strolling thru DAV would ruin the atmosphere .... "Get outta my swamp!"

When I find myself bored with missions I just go over to Andromeda and hit those camps with bosses in them.
Last night we gathered some high lvl (140+) peeps and hit the Medusa camp. Now that was a blast! I felt nostalgic getting that adrenalin rush worrying about massive adds (no mezzing of course).

That reminds me the first time I had taken a mission in Trade - I was in Ent but wanted to see how long I could make it on foot (I'm crap at distances evaluations on world map LOL). After a big runing around, I found the entrance to HQ... and the message saying I'd be shortly under attack... god I ran fast that day, praying I wouldn't have my a** kicked on my way. Nothing happened, but it was my first entry in a potential PvP zone; that's always something, I guess.

And then I ran to Trade exit, and found the ferry to Harry's, and now at least I know how to go from Ent to Harry's on foot

I still have to explore the whole Andromeda though. Keeps on being aggroed on my way all the time. Some zones are just still dangerous enough for lower level peeps

I think alot of it is the Token board factor... we all want the 1k board. There is no reliable way to work on that while hunting outdoors. I hunted my way from lvl 1-100. I think it seriously crippled me later in lvls cause while everyone else was wandering around with a 1k board, doing more dmg, getting more xp, and running a heluva lot faster than me, I worked hard or the last bit of my tokens. Finally got it though.

I ran from te BS grid drop off to the steps to get to a mission.

I saw hundreds of people all:

    Running in place
    warping back and forth
    spinning in circles
/s WTF is with this g**d** lag?!?!?!
    /s this lag is horibbblee

yeah, lots of people I saw

I'm just a newbee in this game but I'm at awe at how big and beautiful this world is. I've used the whompa's a couple of times but I've mainly been running to my missions and enjoying the scenary.
