how bout an "adult" patch?

i've noticed in my short time that many players try to be as "adult" as they can while playing. Of course you can make AO a game that has"adult" content available to the youth, however i believe there is a way you can do it.

we need an "Adult Patch" a special patch that after an age verification process players can download. The patch once installed would make available "Adult" zones ( such as clubs and such). Zones in which are only visible nd only accessable to players with this patch. Inside these "Adult Zones" players would have access to special emotes and be able to do thing niever before capable, such as "getting naked" and such things...

with this a certain type of entertianment very popular for centuries would be available... strip clubs... pole dancing, the Tip bar, they all could be intergrated. allowing for many player Org's to make businesss catering to the clientell of such establishments.

I GARAUNTEE that this would be an exptremely popular patch if made available.

I wouldn't mind some realistic effects though in an "adult patch".

Like AC2, as the monster you are fighting gets weaker they get bloody and torn up.

It's extremely boring to shoot at stuff and just see their arm get knocked out of alignment for a second.

I thought these were suppose to be weapons of the future? They give no impression of power, when using an energy weapon it feels more like laser tag than combat.

I think there are a number of people in-game who wouldn't be able to handle nudity.

However... sometimes I do wish the game were a bit less conservative with certain adult themes. Not just with nudity, but also with adult language & gore (maybe just a hint of blood in combat?). This would give the game a grittier feel... more entertaining, in my opinion. I think most of the AO community has seen a Tarantino film... I'm not asking for that level of excessiveness, mind you, but still this isn't (or at least shouldn't be) a kids game.

Still, I'm uncertain that everyone in-game could handle all this. Even if we did have some sort of 18 & older-filter that blocked out adult themes & language.

Yes a little more gore when a monster dies would be nice. I would love to be entertained a little more in a mission, like:

"Oh did you see that!? That angle her head was at is just wrong!"

Here's another idea, how about leaving the bodies of the dead (NPCs and PCs alike), turn them into part of the background so you can't click on them but they are still there reminding you what a blood bath that first room was.

Yea I know that's just violent stuff, but I don't see how FC can make some of the clothing any skimpier without putting adult warnings on the boxes.

Some way of having a bouncer infront of a nudie bar would be cool. Parents could use some code to disable access. I personally don't care if my future 13 year old sees a little animated nudity but some feel differently.

Now this is something they could make a booster pack, and thereby allow only those that want it to be able to get it. That way the puritans don´t have to vorry their sick little minds about it but can happily run along and blow everything to bloody heaps in a nice way, without having to see anything that is adult content.

A reasonable level of gore is required in a game like this. It's very unlikely that they would add it in though.

They COULD do it in the expansion pack, but I really doubt they will.

Don't listen to the idiots who think gore adds nothing to a game. It does. Games have to create a believable atmosphere if it's going to draw you in... Now when you blast off a full auto with your BFG and are only rewarded with a crappy and overdramatic death animation it does NOT immerse you into the world. It certainly doesn't give you any feeling that you are a Omni soldier wielding a weapon of mass destruction.

I lose respect for games that don't include gore for the sole purpose of appeasing the critics.

The lack of any gore is has ruined many a fine game, turning it into a P.C. pile of crap fit only for a console.

the gore option templar mentioned would be pretty slick.

i remember that a huge part of why i like fallout and jagged alliance2 was BECAUSE it was so gritty.

not to start a moral discussion here but i think violence shown in detail is not as bad as violence shown as having no consequence.

anyway just my 2 cents but i would buy a "gritty nasty cyberpunkish expansion".

OK, I think a specific explanation is needed.
As good a a cyberpunkish goore boosterpack could be (part from the fact you need to buy it to get the gore, and thereby parents should be able to keep it out of their kids games hopefully), the patch I suggested was a audult patch for those that wanted adult content like the head and tail strip bar etc.
Now I have got the feeling that some puritans out there think that gore is OK, but that nudity will damn you to hell. That was why I suggested an adult content boosterpack for those that wanted that.

I'd be more into casinos over strip bars. Gambling is ALWAYS entertainment...even more so when you don't have to use real money. You could have them half-naked girls delivering drinks walking around too, but with pathing in this game as bad as it is...who knows how that would work out.

"Adult" emotes? They are already in the game....lol. You just need to be creative. Ever try standing really close to someone with your back to them and hit /kneel every second? No..I don't think they are going to put /hump or /doggie in....not gonna happen...

Come on, where would the miners get their needs covered, if not in red light districs of Omni-1 Ent? These guys aren't the marrying type, I tell you that much. Come pay-day, I bet you they're all going to Rompa Bar to drown their problems, bar brawling and later on heading down to pick up some ho's before the inevitable return to the notum pit slavery. Give them a break, they deserve it

But seriously, if there was a way to secure access to these features for the 18+ customers only, I don't see one reason why this wouldn't be a success - I'm sure enough of us would rather see this stuff in AO than on the Internet, for it to be a profitable for Funcom.. after all most of the skins already exist (just a little rumour I heard back in the early days) What should it cost? Hmm, well personally, I'd buy the Red Light Booster Pack if it was priced below 20 USD.

I don't mind the idea of an 'adult entertainment' optional booster pack or optional patch provided there are preferences settings for various levels of nudity and gore with some sort of parental controls.

A good example of a system would be two settings, each with independent levels, that had a 'parental password lock' on it so that only someone who entered the password could change the settings.

Blood/Gore: None, Mild, Realistic, Splatterfest.
Nudity: None, Barbie Dolls, Anatomically Correct, Explicit.

Have the options default to None, and make them accessible in-game so users can change their minds and settings conveniently depending on mood/situation, and it would work out for the majority of people.

Come on! It's all nothing but pixils! All fake! As in NOT REAL!
You can get nudity down the street, or on pay per view.

Besides, I would rather have FC working on fixing bugs and adding more story content and all that stuff, then appeasing the fleshmongers.

This might come as a supprise to you, but that gore is also only "pixils", but those things don´t make it add less atmosphere to the game if used in the right way.
