    IRRK: Nanomage Legion storms Borealis

    Nanomage Legion storms Borealis
    May 1, 29480 - [Atlantean]

IRRK - Early this morning, a large Legionary force stormed into Borealis, bringing with them a captive. Days earlier, the captive, later identified as Jessalyn Bluude, had harassed members of the Nanomage Liberation Front, killing one of their members in an unprovoked attack. She and others with her managed to escape before the ICC or the Nanomage Liberation Front could apprehend them.

Apparently, however, the Legion managed to find her. It is not known how or where she was captured, but several witnesses report seeing at least ten Legionaries escorting Bluude through Borealis to the NLF's gathering location near Backyard 4. There was a brief exchange between Legion and NLF, before the captive was led outside the city and executed by Gorgefodder3 under the supervision of the Legionary commander known as Zor Vorenax. Was this due justice served? Not everyone feels the same.

What is of particular interest is this display of force by the Legion. Based on descriptions provided by a number of witnesses, the Legionaries in Borealis appeared to be the Legion's Praetorian Guard, believed by many to be their most elite forces. This raises an important question: Is there more to this situation than what is publicly known? Is there something we don't know about Bluude and her association with the NLF or the Legion?

The controversial retaliation by the NLF may have been the result of Legionary influence, however. Were it not for the Legion illegally seizing Bluude and turning her over to the NLF, this may not have happened. The NLF still stands by their pledge of a renewed, non-violent charter despite this incident and to date, this is the only incident since the initial announcement where the NLF have used any form of violence.

"It looked like it was simply an eye for an eye sort of thing," said one witness. "All the power to them -- that lady got exactly what she deserved."

Is the NLF serious about their commitment to a new non-violent resistance to mining? Was this just an isolated exception? Only time will tell.

*laughs* Oh reporters always going for the dramatic.

The Legion did not "Storm Borealis", they peacefully walked through it. Miss Bluude got what she deserved and that was the end of it. Mountain out of a molehill as I see it.

If this is what I think it is than the attack was certainly provoked. Gorge originaly tried to stop the gang of 'thugs' from harassing a nanomage and challenged them to fight him, so they went outside the city and dispite the efforts of those of us who were there Gorge still died to some rather over powered weapons. So the original attack was provoked, and it might be said that gorge got what he deserved for taking on five or more people at the same time, though his heart was in the right place for doing so.

Violence doesn't eliminate irrational behavior beliefs, it generaly only seems to end up vindicating them. Why some people hate nanomages is beyond me. Why the NLF and Legion hate solitus is beyond me. Why they hate miners is not.

You guys are nuts. Gorgefodder3 challenges several people, who kill him, following his rules. And then when those child-killers bring one of siad people back, he execute her?

Futhermore this article implifies that NLF is feble enough to be influenced by Legion. Whether this is the case of not, they deleted their pledge in single sweep.

Trgeorge and the rest, If you had paid enough attention you would have heared several times that this action was a personal thing between Gorgefodder and miss Bluude. This action was not and is not supported in anyway under the banner of the Nanomage Liberation Front. The counsil has already made Gorge clear that this personal revenge wasnt allowed and action against his miss behavior have already been taken.

a liitle side note: We try hard to Change our ways, and im sure some of you must have noticed that for example the attacks on towers have decreased the last couple of weeks. The Nanomage Liberation Front has a "rough"history, Changes don't come in one day, it may take some time.

Paid attention to what? This is first time I hear of any measures made towards Gorgefodder. But with protecting terrorists, you can expect similar thoughts poping up in the future. It's only to be expected after NFL saying "Oh, we're play nice now. Incidently, have you meet our best friends, Legion?"

The big question I have is...why the hell does it take the Legion to apprehend these Thugs when the so called authorities in charge of what is sometimes called policing of this planet couldnt catch a leet in a backyard. Really shows you though, if Pol and the ICC had any get up and go about them, they might of actually caught the Legion or the Dusters before now. Obviously they dont wish to for whatever reasons. Maybe we should just hire the Legion to provide policing now, since they seem pretty good at it :P

perhas paid attention to the fact that Gorge Yelled several times that this was personal? but oh wait... you werent there, were you? you rather form an opinion on the article of a so called independent reporter. speaking of which, why havent we seen this independant reporter? he never asked our opinion about this. I hardly call this an independant report, nor article.

Mmm well. I think you guys are making a big deal out of this. If the Legion helped Gorge get his revenge, so what? I personally wouldn't be happy if a firing squad of 5 people shot me to death. I'd be livid as well. I see this as just a simple case of revenge, plain and pat.

I like that they conveniently don't report on the fact that the neutrals chased them and their shenadigans outta town shortly afterwards.

Generaly speaking, I don't mind street justice. The problem here for me lies in the Legion first finding this random thug, and then knowing about gorge's run in and than bringing them to him to kill. Thats more than a little creepy.

What gets my attention is that it seems that if you do something that the NLF dosent like, the Nanomage Legion gets involved.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it is has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

They're both nanomage-rights terrorist organizations. They're probably allies, or one of them is a division of the other.

  16. #16
pffft.. Its so easy to point fingers at us but just because we stand up for the nanomage doesnt mean we would ally ourselves with that bunch of child murderers.

The ideology of both groups seems to match well.
