Thread: Beggers belief

  1. #61
    My experiment.

I rolled a NT noob character. Just to see how much I could make in a day of begging. I moved from various wompa to wompa.

    In 4 hours I made

    <drum roll>

12 million credits. I know that sounds incredible. I couldnt believe the number myself. Thats more money that I make standing around building ql200 imps for people. I wont reveal the NT alts name as not to piss anyone off who gave my "begger" money. But I was making 3 mil an hour or so. To me thats just insane. Stop giving out money people.

Since I don't know anything about him, the only way I can describe him is by his actions and his looks.

Have i got a rea life story for you guys on a proffesional beggar:

Okay I like in Kansas City and we have a place called the Plaza which is a nice tourist trap area with nice shops, pricy. Anyway there is this guy who fly's in from Texas every year just to come and beg at the Plaza, His trademark is wearing a red chiefs football coat. He was investigated by the news media when it was revealed that he had a lot of money just by begging for money. I mean cars houses and all.
The tenants of the plaza filed a complaint against this clown to no avail. It seems that he has every god given right to beg as long as he does not do it on personal property.

Just goes to show that people have no shame....pfft!

    Upon receiving /tell for money i proceed with /marco Ignore /ignore &t

    You are safe nowhere

    Heheh...

From posts in other threads it shoud be clear what I think of money beggars...

    Part 1: A story

Well, the other day we finished a misson, two team mates left and I hid in the grid waiting for replacements (this was a bad day for MP's at Tir Grid). This lvl 40 Omni character who shall remain nameless (lets just say his the name is associated with Greek food and/or a Swedish movie) tells me he wants me to lend him 2.5 mill creds so he can buy himself a Yalm.

    Me: "You can't be serious."
Lvl 40 Omni character who shall remain nameless: "Yes, I've already gotten 2.5 mill creds, now I only need the las part to get a Yalm, I really need it" (or something similar)
    Me: "Get lost."
Lvl 40 Omni character who shall remain nameless: "**** you."
    Me: "Excuse me?"
Lvl 40 Omni character who shall remain nameless: "MOTHER****ING FREAK"
Me: "Nice. A petition has already been sent, and an email with a screenshot of this dialogue will soon be on its way to a GM I know."
Lvl 40 Omni character who shall remain nameless: "Huh?"

From there on, the dialogue became rather...illuminating for the lvl 40 Omni character who shall remain nameless.

    Part 2: A question:

Not that I think I overdid it in the story above. I've sometimes given them the mom approach, telling them that they can only have money if they promise not to spend it on ice cream. Anyhow, I'm curious - what is the acceptable level of beggar abuse?

    The Lion Banner sways and falls in the horror-haunted gloom;
A scarlet Dragon rustles by, borne on winds of doom.
In heaps the shining horsemen lie, where the thrusting lances break,
And deep in the haunted mountains, the lost, black gods awake.
dead hands grope in the shadows, the stars turn pale with fright,
For this is the Dragon's Hour, the triumph of Fear and Night.

I have that conversation 2 or three times a day
My standard answer to beggers is always the same..
"I am sorry %t but I don't give money to beggers it promotes begging"

they usually say ok and wonder away.

Call me evil but when newbs come up and ask me for money, I say "Sure you gotta help me with something first.. can you team with me a sec?" 9 times out of 10 they are happy too, thinking they have a successful beg on there hands, and I team grid them.

Then I leave the team and grid back to WA lol. The funny thing is many of them spend a good ammount of time in there, not realizing theres an emergency exit. Oh they get pissed off at me then hehe.

I hate beggers.. and your right. If nobody gave them any money, it wouldn't happen.

Hah, this is a very very recent one...

As I use to, let's say, always run, wherever I am, people who want something from me are usually fiknda forced to use /tells.

So the thing was something like follows...:
    [Beggar] Hey
    [Me] Huh?
[Beggar] Can you spare me some credz?
    [Me] Errm.
/me nastily smiles, already in the Rift, before exiting
    [Beggar] Need money
[Me] ... okay. You come to me, i give ya money.
    [Beggar] Where are u?
[Me] Old Athen. I have business to conduct there. But if you come, I can give you the money.
    [Beggar] ...

I had just been on my way to Ent's north Grid term to hack the datastream and jump in the Rift. I'd have come back for a friend, but certainly not for a beggar
