    5 point caps

Get rid of them. I hate them.

If i want to dump all my points into swimming, then let me. This allows for greater flexibility, and i can't honestly find much wrong with it. The *only* caps that should exist should be the title caps.

    ...... errr.....

/me waves at him while he is in the newbie backyards (well, I hope that is true)

That would cause major twinking if you will.. imagine.. maxing out Matter Creation as an NT the soon as you past a title cap. A bit overpowering if you ask me. /scratch

Not so, you can completely blow it on MC if you want, but then your HP (stamina and body dev) as well as other skills will certainly lag. How are you going to be able to increase abilities, if you have no IP to do so. And we all know, abilities = ability to wear better armor.

Why would you need armor? If I got to the titlecap in a few short levels, I could easily use nukes that were big enough to kill mobs in one hit. Then sink the next few levels capping nanopool, and the next few on nanoinit. then I would start on int/psy.
The pen is mightier than the sword, you say? Very well, get out your pens, essay writers, and prepare to have your logic tested by steel!

I love that you picked swimming. What skill do you REALLY want to boost so much? and why?

the /level caps are just fine.

I would have to say that this is an typicall example of how an flame should not look like. You need to think things through and calm down before you try to write an flame... Im sorry but I would rate this flame with an 1. Aggression is to high, grammar and cursing isnt to well planned... Maybe he has an point somewhere in there but I dont even want to find it. - Centurion3

To protect yourself so you don't die in 1 hit.

Meanwhile you would be gimping yourself in stamina and body dev which is *important* for something like an NT, or nano breed. So you might have that uber AC, but you have to remember there is a minimum damage done, you will eventually die in a couple of hits.

The next thing that FC has to disable is getting a free 2 hps a level. That is stupid, abilities should only be based on skills. Nothing but the amount of IP recieved; should be based in levels.

I don't want to boost any skill. I am asking for more freedom.
I'm only playing on a 7 day account so i can post some ideas on this forum. I only have a level 2 on this account.

How would that be fun? So at level 53 you'd get the spells you'll be using till almost level 100 when you matter creation is uncapped again?

I can't help but think that you didn't think this idea through at all. Just think how godly pet classes would be using their QL 100 pet or maybe even 130 or so with buffs against a level 50 monster.

They did it so people couldn't make grossly unbalanced characters.

It's bad enough with people coming here and crying their character sucks because they only have 1000HP at level 100.

Putting in artificial level caps makes players think more closely about where they should and should not spend IPs.

I think the whole point of removing the caps would be so that we could make unbalanced charcaters.
Sure, you'd have that super-nuke. But, you'd have no humidity extractor, no nanopool, no armor, and no health. And, you'd be using crappy nanokits since you didn't raise your T/S. And think of all the time wasted sitting around waiting for health since you never raised treatment.
At least it would allow people to make characters that were different from each other. You could make "Specialists"....
But, those specialists would be unable to do things that the balanced characters could. Sure, you can cast "Super DD-NANO #6", but I can cast "Super DD Nano#2" and "Nullity Sphere", and I can afford to cast them a few times, as opposed to your nuke thats eats your entire measly nanopool.
We would all end up close to the same in the end, but the first 100 levels or so would be a lot more interesting. Any class could be a badass in some way, but those badasses would also have weaknesses.
As for pet classes, They have to raise a lot of skills to get there, so I don't see that as much of a problem. The only major change required here would be making mobs have a decent chance of attacking the caster instead of the pet (i.e. no pets gaining XP for the caster while 100m away)

I'm all for the idea. Sounds like fun!

I think the caps are a necessary evil, especially in a skill based system with harsh repurcussions for those who lack the foersight to plan a balanced character.

Lets face it, this game was designed for mass consumption. The average player doesn't take the time to research what skills are required to make an effective character. Hell, it took me 2-3 beta characters and 50+ levels in final to get a solid grasp on the skill system and the relational aspects of attributes to skills....and I a veteran to RPGs and MMORPGs.

Sure, a comletely specialised character might be fun to experiment with on an environment like the test server.
But if players were allowed ultimate freedom with IPs, you would see a lot a characters that are totally ineffective. To be hoenst, I would not want to group with someone who is a liability to my group.

On the flipside, the min/max powergamers would come up with the ultimate pokemon character in no time.....and people would model their characters after this uber template and there would be even less variety than we currently see in game (ie: Nanomage NT in Nano armor wielding a pillow, Atrox Soldier in Elite with a Novaflow, Opifex Fixer in Obtru with a Mausser)
