Thread: The way of the corporation.

  1. #21
There werent really much that could match a diversion when it came to getting past guards. This was one of the things Naefen had learned first of all being an agent for the corporation. A small explosion inside a Omni Tek city was certain to draw attention.

The two guards, fully armored in the companys regular black, chased down the street towards where the blow had went off. They would probably not return in atleast thirty seconds.... All the time in the world for Paxcorpus.

Disabling the lock, delaying the framerates on the security cameras, and disabling the alarm made them both safe inside. And they still had ten seconds until the guards would be on theyre places again. He could not help but admire her skills.

"Thats step one Nick." She said as she handed him a little mechanical device.

Paxcorpus jumped up on his shoulders and reached for the ceiling. With the tool she quickly had the hatch above opened and crawled inside. Naefen threw her backpack up after her and she was in the ventilation.

"And thats step two." He whispered into his head-com.

He made sure the hatch was properly placed before disapearing completely. Nobody being able to spot him was essential and for all he knew, there were none inside this building at this time who could.

Paxcorpus would make her way to the main power wire and, if all went well, cut of everything except the main office. That is where Naefen would be,hopefully, downloading the computer files. From there on they had no chance of staying undetected and was gonna do theyre best to make it out. Plan A was to meet up on the roof and fly into the night since the facility would probably be monitored for grid excursions. It was so close to a suicide mission Naefen really didnt think they would get away with it. As long as he found the information he needed he thought it might be worth it nontheless.

The ground floor was not really that well guarded. Naefen figured the fact that his companion, Paxcorpus, had managed to overide the movement sensors on this floor would make it a walk in the park. He was already well on his way to the stairs. All of a sudden a door flung open and a Nano-Technician came running out. Naefen froze in place, holding his breath as the NT ran by him. Id didnt really matter whether he moved or not while under the protection of his concealment nanos but reflexes printed into him from childhood when he had no nano technology werent easily shaken off. He had spent many a time in the darkness holding his breath while someone was close by looking for him in those early days of his life.
The NT ran by and disapeared around the corner. Naefen prayed it was just some lower clerk on a urgent assignment. Too late to worry about it anyways. There was no returning now.

"Is the staircase clear?" He whispered into his head-com.

"Its been clear for fifteen seconds... Whats holding you up?" The soft female answer came immediately.

Oh how he enjoyed Paxcorpus when she was focused liked that.

"Just some kid running through the halls. Ill be there in ten seconds more." He whispered again.

"Noted. We are ten seconds behind schedule. Youll need to make up for it on the stairs Nick." She was all professional again. Just like he remembered her from the old days.

As he aproached the door leading to the stairs it automatically swung open. Pax`s work he knew. He could hear a guard shifting his feet one level above and he aproached silently. The guard was a Solitus. Probably around his early thirtys. The crosshair on Naefen`s rifle rested easily on the mans left eye before just at the right movement tilting up onto his forehead.
How many times had he done this exact thing?
He fired three shots rapidly following eachother. The first pierced the skull followed tightly by the second. Together they made a set of new "eyes" just above the original ones. The third went straight through the mans chest and spine making it harder for the corpse to "twitch". He lay silent on the floor.
The guard would be reclaimed and then alarm the rest of the building. He would be too late though.

Naefen was not concealed anymore and ran the stairs up to the level where the Director`s office was placed. The running took care of his "lost" ten seconds.
A "click" came from the door as Paxcorpus externally opened it and Naefen disapeared once again. This floor would be guarded. Well guarded he knew.

"Ok Pax. Give me one minute and twenty-four seconds then cut everything exept the office." He whispered.

"Timer started. Ill see you on the roof..... I hope." The answer came.

Naefen entered the top floor. He immediately saw five guards standing on different locations and heard atleast two more walking further in. He knew there were more of them. Many more.

Twentyfour seconds went by while Naefen glided silently and invisibly past the guards and into the office he had come for. A loud crack sounded from some sort of electric burst behind him in the corridor followed by the guards shouting and commanding eachother. The few seconds of chaos would serve him well.
The office itself was spartanic. Nothing on the walls, nothing on the floor. Just a brown desk with a white computer on it in the middle of the room. Naefen rushed over to the computer and started typing the codes he had received weeks earlier.

"Pax you there?" He spoke as he started typing.

"Still here..." She answered quickly and sounding like crawling.

"Get to the roof Pax. Your downloader needs only seconds right?" He spoke fast, actually feeling the sweat pouring down on his face as he entered the last codes.

Seconds later he had transfered the entire computers memory to Pax`s device and just as he smashed the computer the door swung open.
    The guard spotted him immediately.

    "Freeze motherfu**er!!"

Naefen darted towards the guard. Towards the rooms only exit. Surprised the guard raised his machinegun and emptied it into Naefen`s body. A great red light flashed and Naefen ran past the guard, fully healed.

    "ALARM! INTRUDER!"

    This was gonna get ugly.

"Can you read me?" He spoke to his comm while running through the halls. There were no answer....
At every turn he made there were new guards but somehow he managed to pass them and make it to the next level..... up the stairs then another level. There were levels in this building he hadnt seen on any of the scetches he had aquired prior to the operation.... He didnt really feel to confident anymore. As he stormed through a doorway he pictured himself sitting in a dark room inside some Omni InternOps facility for the rest of his life.... Then his eyes widened greatly at what was in the room.
Swirling and making that loud clicking sound when huge rounds are pushed into a gun-chamber five turrets turned towards him. They were designed to be lifted to the roof incase of aerial attacks but right now theyre target was inside the room. Naefen sprinted towards the only cover he could see. Some metal crates in the corner. They wouldnt last long against that kind of ammo but it was all he had. He had one level to go he figured since the turrets were here but it seemed miles away.

"Can you read me!" He shouted again.

    "Are you there?!!"

While staying as low as possible he couldnt help but think this was the end.
He had been with the corporation for years and had been ever so loyal, exept for maybe a few shortcuts here and there. All in all he had a career he was proud of to look back at. It didnt help much where he was now though. He would die in this room and he would die alone. Then he would most likely be executed or locked up for the rest of his life.
He felt deserted but didnt have anyone to blame for it than himself. His quest for knowledge had gone too far. He should have stayed with the people that trusted him and witch he looked upon as his family.
He had no where to go.
Paxcorpus was most likely out already or dead. Had he dragged her down with him? He pictured her in his mind and smiled. She was one damn good fixer but, ofcourse, she had betrayed him.

A bolt of pain ran through his shoulder as he saw blood and armor-plates spring from his body.
    Was this the end?

"Damn you!!" Naefen shouted, seemingly to no one but it was all ment for Paxcorpus.

He was sure she had betrayed him by now and that this was the last time he was outside a prison cell. The turrets kept firing and there were seconds until there were no more left of the metal-crates to hide behind. Naefen screamed out a curse to the turrets as it seemed the only thing he was capable of right now...
Then a clicking sound occured. The turrets all stopped firing.
Naefen peaked up from behind his massively damaged cover. The turrets were searching the area once again...
He knew there would be seconds until they picked up his heat signal once again so he knew he had to act fast. He doubted he would be any faster than the turrets though. This was his only chance!
He quickly stood up as his hands were engulfed in red nanobots witch sprung forth and surrounded him. They repaired him completely. Before they had dissipated into nothingness he was halfway to the final door. The door witch led out to the rooftop where he was supposed to meet Pax and Yalm away. The grid was too dangerous as it would be monitored by now.
The turrets were too fast... He heard the thundering sound as they opened fire on him again and h felt the stinging pain all over his backside.
He almost fell through the door.

Naefen stumbled out onto the rooftop. He couldnt see much, there were blood all over his face. He wanted to heal himself again but the program he had running earlier were out and healing was not available at the moment. He had to reach into his Yalm. It was his only way out now.
Where the he** was Pax? Most likely she had him on some monitor smiling to herself. He had deserved this in a way. Naefen decided thre would be no revenge for her deceit. Even if he survived this.

"Do not move intruder! Drop your weapons, remove your cloak, and identify yourself." The voice was loud and clear.
Naefen looked up and saw several guards standing in a line infront of him. All had theyre weapons raised and were ready to fill him up with all sorts of nasty projectiles.
    Obviously he hesitated too long...
The guard who had spoken fired off a shot into his kneecap witch sent Naefen slamming to the floor.

"I said, drop your weapon and identify yourself!!" The guard screamed again.

    It was over...
Pictures of victims rolled through Naefen`s head. Few of them had known what hit them and fewer knew why.
His comatosed sister lying inside the Disciples HeadQuarters... what would become of her?
Paxcorpus had finally had her revenge... he pictured her smiling and it almost made him smile aswell.
Banishedsoul and the rest of the Disciples.... they would be dissapointed...
    It was over...

He couldnt be sure if he was really dreaming or not. The pain from the shot too his knee blended in with the ones in his back and somewhere within that pain he thought he could hear Pax.
The soldier guards infron of him had him cornered and down. On top of that he had an unnerving feeling they wouldnt really mind blowing him away.

"....raise your left arm...." Naefen thought he heard somewhere inside that haze.

".....take the plunge..........trust........." Other bits he could make out. He almost smiled at that last part. He probably would if one of those bullets had not ripped his cheek wide open.

And so he raised his left arm as if to cover himself against the soldiers.
"Identify yourself!!" They screamed at him.

He could hear Pax`s voice but not the words. Something was gonna happen so he braced himself for the worst. Then, the lights went off.
The soldiers fired immediately. They missed though since Naefen rolled insticntively to his left the instant it went dark. He was up and running...... no, limping towards the edge of the rooftop before he even realized the absurdity of it all......

Paxcorpus had him. Finally she could watch him dive into death by his own free will and knowingly laugh while he rotted away in a cell.

The lights came on before he got to the edge. Naefen glanced over his shoulder just as the guards noticed what he was doing. They turned quickly, simultaniously and started pumping shot after shot towards him. Naefen thought he saw something move behind them but didnt have the time too focus. He looked straight ahead and saw darkness only. A bullet swirled right by his forehead as he half dived, half collapsed over the edge. He was falling.

Darkness surrounded him everywhere. The air all around him whispered too him. The pain he felt moments ago slowly faded away as adrenalin filled his every cell. He could see the streetlights aproaching fast and closed his eyes while whispering a silent prayer for the continued safety of his sister.

"We made it..." He said and was amazed at the level of tiredness in his own voice.
Pax had saved him and he still could not believe it.

He could only see the electrical trace of her as she suggested theyd meet in Rompa Bar in one hour. Then she dissapeared.

He had to get out of the grid fast, that much he knew. The chase wasnt over yet.
Before exiting the grid, however, he sent a scrambled comm-message too Rednalreden. Rednalreden was one of the few people on this planet he trusted at all.

"Red, grab some civilian clothes for me and meet me in the alley where we met Frank all those years ago." Naefen shut down his comm and hoped Red would get the message and get it fast. Then he exited the grid and went to Newland. As usual, many people rested on the hill outside the bustling Neutral city and wearing camo-clothes would not make him stand out at all. He headed straight for the city gates, ignoring the traders, beggars and clanners witch also resided here, though in fewer numbers than Omni`s and Neutrals.

Inside the City itself Naefen started jogging towards the famous bar the local folk only called "Neutererz". A lively place Naefen had visited several times before. He didnt go there for beverages tonight .
Straight into the toilet he went and nearly ran over his contact right inside.
They locked gazes and Naefen flipped up the credits they had agreed on beforehand.

"Jobe Guards dont know Jack." Naefen said to the man. He couldnt help but throw in a little smile.
"Jack dont know much either." The man promptly answered and traded his backpack for Naefens creds.
Naefen turned around, then quickly spun another halfround and injected a stim he had hid in his palm all along into the mans throat. He was dead before he hit the floor.
"And Jack wont ever find out..."Naefen whispered, mostly too himself. The man wouldnt remember anything from the past week once he woke up at his reclaim...... That is, if he was insured in the first place.

Naefen quickly examined the contents opf the pack he had just aquired. Two stims with a greenish substance and a bottle of whisky. He grabbed the bottle and started drinking as he strolled through the streets of Newland City. There was still plenty of time.
Rednalreden appeared after Naefen had taken not more than three steps into the alley. He wouldnt ask Naefen any questions about what he needed the clothes for nor would he try to find out in any other way. Red`s web of contacts was atleast, if not larger, than Naefen and the two of them exchanged nearly any information they could get theyre hands on....... Nearly all.

Rednalreden didnt waste any time. He delivered and then he was gone. Not long after Naefen walked quickly out of the alley looking like nothing but another civilian. Purposely he had ripped his shirt slightly on the arm and scrubbed some dirt on his elbows. He took a deep plunge into the bottle of whisky before exiting the city. It was a long time since he had tasted the burning liquor. But the reasons for drinking it this time was different from before. He wasnt mourning today. He was trying to save his life.... He was trying to save both his and Paxcorpus life.

He was going for the grid again. No faster way to get to Omni Ent then by grid. He had to hope there werent too skilled people monitoring the grid right now or else he would be caught before he even touched the ground on the other side. Luckily, seconds later, Naefen stood solid in Omni Entertainment. He headed straight for the alleys and disapeared. All he needed now was to get to Pax without ending up in a gunfight.

He had almost downed the entire bottle of whisky when things started to tighten. Just before he turned a corner he could hear someone speak into a comm-link.
Naefen halted abruptly, but didnt turn the other way.

"Yes Sir. We tracked the signal to Entertainment District. He is somewhere in the perimeter and we are running DNA Scans on everyone to match with the traces in the grid." The voice reported. Most likely this was Omni-Pol but Naefen knew InterOps was on the other end of that link. They were on to him. Ofcourse they were on to him, what a silly notion they wouldnt be.

Luckily the Omni-Pol`s went the other way and Naefen could stroll on. He started to feel that good old buzz inside from the almost empty bottle and actually couldnt help but smile a little while he casually walked onwards.

All this seemed glorious to Naefen. The excitement! The nerves! The intrigues!
How long had he missed these, once upon a time, everyday feelings? He couldnt even start to count the days. He knew he had started drinking heavily some weeks after his promotion to General in the Disciples of Omni-Tek and he knew it was because his everyday tasks had changed dramatically. He knew because of Omni-Reform.
Omni-Reform had taken him in when he needed them the most and helped him understand, again, what was most important in life and on Rubi Ka. He would never drink again, unless it was required....like now.

Prior to Naefen`s promotion he had been a loyal Disciple for a long time and, to a degree, been able to sooth his tremendous hunger for adrenaline-kicks. He would do anything for his organisation. Nothing seemed too hard and nothing would stand in the way of him and his comrad employees.
But it was even before that that he had developed the taste for the kicks. Back when he worked only and completely as a freelancer asassin for the corporation. Dark operatives gave him a list of names and a week later the list was cleared. He never asked questions. He never regretted. He never failed..... The adrenaline was outrageous and he had loved every moment of it all. It had all changed once he aquired knowledge that his sister was still alive though. His life had changed...again.

Now, he was on the verge of laying his eyes on more knowledge of the state of Rubi Ka than almost anyone on the face of the planet had ever done before. Reaching the files from Omni InterOps was a dream he didnt think was possible to make true. Here he was though, strolling around Omni Ent half-drunk and only steps away from seeing it all.

One more corner and he would reach the destination. Pax would be there. If she wasnt it didnt really matter to him. But somewhere deep inside he prayed to the Gods of the Shadowlands that she had made it and was there.

One more step and he would see Rompa Bar. He wasnt gonna make that step just yet. Right on the other side of the corner Naefen leaned backside to the wall holding his ,now near empty, bottle of booze in his hand.
He felt pretty clearminded but having been as close to a drunkard as one can get he knew this was just about when his imagination would start taking some rather massive sideturns. He needed the effect but if he lost control this time it would be the end of him. Of him and probably his companion, Pax, aswell.

Again, his misplaced smile appeared on his lips. He pictured Pax standing inside the bar tapping her feet. He didnt know for sure she had made it there yet but this was all in his mind anyways...
Why did he trust her? He couldnt be sure.. He was not even sure if he really did. Had she ever proven loyal to him? No, that was not it. She was loyal to no one he knew of. Atleast, not in the past but Pax`s past was a blur and not a good reference.
Was it affection then? No, not affection. That part of his heart had never really been opened and he thought it never would. She was beautiful there was no doubt about it. Maybe even more so now than in the past. Naefen closed his eyes for a second and made sure it was not affection. He was not that big a fool.
Comradery? No not that. She had never really been a friend. He had extremely few friends and all of them were extremely close to him. She was not his friend. Damnit, she had almost destroyed his life once!

Five more minutes and he would enter Rompa Bar. She better play along or this would get ugly....

Naefen could almost taste the vomit as he entered Rompa Bar. He felt lightheaded to say the least. A couple exited right after he had gone in and they shook theyre head as they saw the, obviously, drunk Opifex male trying to walk as straight as possible down the hallway. More than once did he stop walking and readjust his bearings.
He almost thought he had gone too far this time...

A great erruption started from deep within and Naefen started swallowing hard to keep it down. The closest door led to the ladies-room but there were no time for politeness so he bursted through it and found himself screamed at by three Solitus women obviously powdering theyre noses before walking home. They rushed out just as Naefen stuck his leg out infront of himself and let go of his most uncomfortable insides.
Vomit splashed out and all but covered his leg. The floor was a mess aswell.

His eyes filled with tears and he had a hard time seeing anything at all. Right about the time he blew out the remaining goo from his nose he heard a familiar voice from behind.

"Im sure you wont mind me asking.... What in the world are you doing?" Pax spoke calmly but her voice revealed great anger. He hoped she wouldnt gun him down right there and then.

"Im celebrating....cant you see..." He answered while straightening up and wiping his mouth.

She went for the door at that. Thinking he had finally lost it completely most likely and deciding shed be better of alone.

"Wait Pax, Im not insane just yet... Im being followed and so are you. Most likely we will be arrested in about one and a half minute." He said while pulling out a pair of stims from his backpack. They were odd looking. Not something used for combat or other "normal" activities.

Naefen quickly injected himself with a grimace on his face and turned to Pax offering her the other.
"Most likely unless you do as I say...."

Paxcorpus looked both like accepting the offer and pulling her gun and blow him away. Somewhere in between.

They both heard the fron door of the bar being kicked in. After the initial surprise they turned to look at eachother and it seemed as if time froze.

"Take it Pax. Take it and walk." Naefen pleaded her.

Paxcorpus shook her head and stepped back.

"Im not falling for your games this time Nick..." She answered him denial written all over her lean Opifex features.

Naefen`s face contorted into a grimace picturing absolute outrage.

"Then be damned with you!"He screamed to her.

Naefen turned the stim he had just offered to Pax in his hand and pressed a little button on the other side of it. Then he dropped it to the floor. Less than a second later it combusted and became nothingness. Paxcorpus raised an accusing finger at Naefen but he didnt have time to let her speak. He turned around and ran as fast as he could, headfirst into the wall. As he slided down to the floor, blood pooring from his nose, he ripped his sleeve open. He would have to apologize to Rednalreden for ravaging his clothes like this at a later time.

    "Nick what the he...."Pax started.

The door came in with a loud crack. Before they could even think five Omni-Pol`s finest were in the room and had theyre heads targetted. A slightest move from any of them would ensure a swift death. And knowing this was Omni Pol you could never know where you ressurected afterwards.

In came a different clad man. He wore a white, thin armor with a white trenchcoat on top.

"This is Dewey. We have located two suspects in the ladies room. Stand by for further information." The white clad man obviously named Dewey reported into his com.
Naefen nearly gagged thinking about who might be on the other side of that link.

They went for Pax first, seeing she was the only one standing up. Naefen lay in a pool of his own blood wich,by now, had stopped dripping from his busted nose.
"Whats your call sign?" Dewey asked. His perfectly composed features showing that interrogation was not uncommon to him.
He got no answer. Pax stared at him. There were no sign of weakness in her. It almost made Naefen smile but instead he coughed up some more blood.

The white clad man pulled out a device from one of his many pockets and stinged Pax with it. It made a hissing sound and he looked up at her knowingly.

"Well I dont care what your callsignature is anymore. Your ID scan shows youve been where you shouldnt have as clearly as a sunlit day. Guards, take her." He said with a very serious tone. A dangerously serious tone.

They led Paxcorpus out of the room heavily guarded. Naefen was ordered on his feet but couldnt get his feet under himself somehow and one of the remaining guards janked him up.

"Hold him there!" The man called Dewey said with a sneer.

This would be the final test and Naefen knew it. If the stim hadnt worked this would be the end.
He didnt even feel the sting as Dewey took his bloodsample. Not only was he dizzy from loosing a somewhat fair amount of blood from his nose but on top of that he was drunk.

"God he smells like a rollerat this one Commander..." The guard holding Naefen said as the white clad man looked down at his sample.
"Indeed, a very "fine" specimen of the Opifex breed." Commander Dewey answered after a while.

"Let him go. He is just another drunk misfit this one........Jack." He spoke the name he thought was Naefens with a sneer of utter disgust.

The silence as the Omni Pol`s turned around and started to exit was suddenly broken by gunfire. Naefen stumbled towards the door as the guards started running. He could hear a voice through theyre crackling intercoms.

"This is Wint...on. The pri......... is trying to esca....." Some fully automatic weapon was banging in the background.
The guards stormed out the door.

Naefen was safe. He stood motionless for a second just looking at the door. Paxcorpus would finally get what was coming. And it wasnt even his fault. How sweet life could be......

"Fu**ing Bit**!!" He screamed and started running further into the bar. As he aproached the bartender ,who tried to explain they were closed for tonight, he merely pointed at the man who ,luckily for him, understood this was notime to argue.
Naefen went straight behind the bar and started rummaging around. There it was!! He knew he had seen the bartender of this place chase some drunk kids out once with a rifle. An old Cat. Used to be Naefens favourite as a recruit but was mostly forgotten these days. Lying around in bars and closets.
"Ill borrow this.....for good." He said to the man as he exited the backway.

Getting to the rooftops was an easy feat. If you wanted to survive as a agent on Rubi Ka you wanted to learn how to do it and you wanted to learn fast. Up on the roof Naefen stormed accross and looked down on the street below. They had her..... They had her again.

Paxcorpus had been hit severly but was still moving. Very slowly though. The three remaining ,breathing, guards walked towards her guns locked on her pretty Opifex face. They screamed for het to put her guns down....she didnt.

    Naefen aimed. One,two, three guards...
His crosshair drifted slowly towards Paxcorpus and laid still on her forehead.
Memories flashed before his eyes. His sister..... He hadnt done it right with her and she was still in a coma.

The trigger felt colder than ever.

Paxcorpus fell to the ground and lay there perfectly still. Blood seeped out from the large hole in her skull like a red waterfall. The guards turned on Naefens position on the roof in the same instant.
Three bullets went into Naefens left shoulder. The rest of them banged into the concrete and whistled right by his head. Naefen ducked down and heard them starting running for the building. He figured they would be on the roof with him in about 1 minute. He rose to his feet again looking over the egde. One guard remained looking down at the dead body of Pax. A closer look revealed matter from her brain splattered around his feet. She was dead allright.
A thin-lipped smile spread on Naefens face as he whispered to himself.

    "Bound to happen Pax......"

She would have to wriggle out of the rest herself. Atleast she werent in custody now.

Naefen tapped a code into his wrist-computer and a little purple light flashed.
Thirty minutes ago, while he was still on the way to Rompa Bar Naefen had uploaded a programme many daring troopers used to get our of Shadowlands in a hurry. Hopefully, it would get him outta here aswell.
He ducked down again just before the guard down on the street looked up towards the roof and sat perfectly still. All he could do was wait. He heard footsteps from the staircase leading up the last few yards to the roof. They would be here soon.

"Freeze scumbag!!" One of the first guards entering the roof screamed at him.

    "Too late." Naefen whispered.
    Then he dissapeared.

According to the plan Naefen was safe now. According to the plan he and Pax would have been sitting in his office looking at the materials they had downloaded from the Inter-Ops facility gaining knowledge unheard of in Rubi Ka history.
Stuff didnt always go according to plan.

He couldnt shake Pax`s remark about Jack just before she was taken outside. She had placed a bugg on him, that conniving wench, but he couldnt really blame her. Its not like he hadnt done the same to her in the past.

He needed the disk and he thought he knew where it was at. He set course for Newland. This time using the whompas.

How easily he was able to forget cruelty and pains. It didnt take him more than three strides into the famed bar Neuter`s in Newland before a wide smile spread accross his face from listening to the lyrics of some ancient song ringing through the locales.
It seemed to be about some "Mr.Crowley"....

What other reason for Pax to mention Jack than as a remark that she knew he had killed the delivery-boy in here. Theyre password had contained "Jack" and she must have heard. Naefen started checking all the usual places for the disk. Finally, after some time and a lot of cursing, he found it tucked behind the mirror in the ladies room.
Finally holding it in his hands again he looked up to the ceiling with a reliefed sigh.... "Thank you Pax..." He whispered through his breath.

    Time to go home.

Naefen arrived at his General quarters fifteen minutes later. Immediately closing the door and instructed the rooms artifial intelligence to perform a complete lockdown.
Doors clicked, windows shut and steelbars slid over them. Ventilation shafts closed and all cameras hummed loudly before turning off. Naefen sat down infront of his computers and inserted the disk. Sweat was starting to pour from his forehead and, even though he tried to calm himself, he almost bit a hole in his lower lip.
This could be it! Naefen was on the verge of knowing what only a few people in the entire Universe knew!! The possibilities was overwhelming.
    His screens came to life.

The world started spinning and the screens became a hazy blur as Naefen saw the single file on his screen. It was named *N. Noodle*.
He could clearly see his entire existence crumble to dust before his very eyes. His friends and allies despuising him as he was sent to punishment for life....or worse.
The file had his name on it. The file was from Intern Ops. The file....had his name.....as the files name...

With shaking hands Naefen opened the file and leaned back. It was over. He might aswell read it before trying to get off this planet. A planet wich surely would hold no place for him after this. Dismissed with dishonor......

    Dear Nick Noodle

You have by far overstepped your boundries tonight. I have followed your career closely for some time and must say I am somewhat dissapointed in how easy it has been to do so without you seeming to know of it.
Your actions of today has been recorded and will be stored securely.
You do your profession well Noodle but remember in the future that you are nothing but a little pawn in the big picture.

Since you have worked so well for the corporation in the past....and since I am the only one, except your little helper, who knows of the little game you have played this night... Im going to let it slide. After all, I havent been so amused for ages.
Heed these words "Naefen"!! Step out of line one more time and you will be confronted with the evidence I now possess faster than you can say "Guilty!".

And I hope your name will never appear in any official InterOps records. If they do.... you are finished.
Also, you may be contacted if I should need your asistance and I suggest you help in any way you can if so.

    You are mine.

Smoke started coming from where Naefen had placed the disk and seconds later fluid plastic seeped out from his computer.
Naefen felt his stomach turning. And it was not from booze this time....
He ordered the doors opened and rushed outside. He nearly stepped on the letter lying on the floor outside his door.
With trembling hands he picked it up and read what was written on the envelope.

    *To General Naefen.
    *Regarding your future

    It was Banishedsouls handwriting.
Naefen looked cautiously around himself then turned around walking quickly inside his chambers again. Seconds later the lockdown was effective once more.

    The world had changed.
    "The game".... was reborn.

(The End. Thank you for having fun with me once more Pax ))
