OOC: Omni-Tek Department meetings - The Run Down

The logs of the meetings, as far as I am aware with this new Omni project, are likely to be available for all affiliates on whichever dimension the meeting is held on.

Whoever your guild representative will be MUST be someone that is reliable though, if they arent then they are not really going to be a good first point of contact from your guilds perspective.

Anyway, my personal views of the meetings and the activities to come are very positive and I am really excited to see what is in store for us. All guilds that I know and work with are going to be doing all they can to get members of all levels and backgrounds interested and involved.

And this is something I like to hear.

The next question I have for my self is what about people outside of orgs that would like to be involved in things. Do you know if any guild will be outsourcing work? (I know alot of people's first question might be why would we outsource any work when we have tons of people that would be glad to do it? Well 1 reason is that if someone was say looking for a org but wasn't sure what guild is realy a RP org, and what one just says they are a RP org would get them to lean toward your guild a bit more. 2nd reason is perhaps the task is beneth your org members. It's too menial, so you get an outside person to do it )

I dont think individuals should be prejudiced, but there are LOTS of really good RP guilds --> clicky RK1 & clickyRK2

I think in the run up to the launch of this that anyone interested in it will do their research to make sure they are in the right place at the right time

Keeping an eye open here, which is what you are doing now, is a great step forwards, especially as an individual. But familiarity with people who will fight to be involved might also be a good thing to strive for!

Everyone has access to viewing the meeting logs.. even clan orgs that don't even support the CoT effort... for that matter... even Omni has access..

hmm....what I could figure so far from teh cot meetings every org sends 2 reps to the meeting who are responisble to relay all infos between org and cot. those 2 reps can enter the buidling. but what if the orgs city is FAR away, how about there escort meets at the door for some nice rp and chatting? there is a nice small club right in shouting distance, "enjoy it while it lasts" make a habbit and drag you youngsters with you to the meeting park them in the club with the youngsters from teh other orgs.


... maybe even I could drop by now and then to cadge soem beer....

Good idea Mummu, and to take it a step further... you could make a path that goes dirrectly through a 0% zone (Because of what ever logic that you have for wanting to take that path), and if anouther org wanted to get in zome RPing with your org they could ambuse the escort.

I know some people might ask why walk or run when we could use the grid or use a yalm. Well remember the grid is actualy a system set up by Omni-Tek that they have to let clans use because the ICC says you can't deny services to them. Perhaps your clan doesn't trust Omni-Tek. Or perhaps it's not so much a matter of trusting Omni-Tek or not but more a mater of not trusting having your self turned into a digital form so that some hacker can hack you. Sure on a random occation where nobody knows you are about to go on the grid it's safe... but if someone knows that a meeting happens at X time, then they could be ready to stay on the look out for you on the grid.

Don't know where 0% zones are? Well it's easy, just make your trip go through some Tower zones. It could be safe... but it could be dangerous too.

I have realy no idea why you wouldn't want to have people go in yalms though if you have them... other than not using yalms is a good excuse to get in some RPing.

I think you mis-interpreted the point of my post.

The point is that the clan org reps don't have to communicate anything. Those members of the org in question who are interested in what is said and decided during a CoT meeting have as much access to that information as those who actually attend the meeting.

What I hear you say here is that you want someone to make it easy for you. They would do all the work of attending the meeting and then they would come back and tell you a synopsis of what has happened. I feel this is unfair to those who are genuingly interested. Why should they carry the extra responsibility of spoon feeding the information to the rest of the org? If the rest of the org is interested, they can go through the trouble of reading the meeting logs themselves.

reading logs is boring,
talking with soemone about what happend is far more interesting.
it wil be cut down to the more important points AND delivers a personla point of view, makes it a hell of a lot more interesting. besides, establishing a location for claner for regular rp, couldnt be bad, in case there isnt one already.

Any more news on this? With the shooting of Ross you would think that the need for an Omni board is greater then ever to better pool any information we may have and to show Rubi-Ka that we Omni's are still able to function with our CEO on the fritz.

If you look at the posted speech by Ross, he makes reference to the meetings. Keep watching this space this week for more information =)

The Omni-tek department leaders are meeting today in the storyline but this is not the player meetings.

However information on the player meetings is coming shortly. Watch Editor News for the start up

Ok as most of you have probably noticed, the sign up is now ready for the Omni-Tek Affiliate meetings. We have launched the article here and the Omni-Tek website is now up and operational here

Here are a few FYI's for you

Who is approving the applications?

Whenever you submit a application it gets forwarded to our ark-events feedback email address. Then we shall review your application and make sure you have applied for a department that is suited to you. We do this by reading the information you include in the application. So please make sure you submit more information than "well I am a doc so I guess I should join omni-med"

It is not accepting my name in the application?!

The registration form checks for your org name against the AO database. So if for any reason the DB is down you will not be able to send in the application. It is also very important that if you have any additional tags on your org name, that they are included as well. So in other words, everything is case sensitive.

It has been more that 72 hours and I havn't gotten a response...is this because I applied solo and not as a org?

It will play a role on the application process if you apply solo but are in a guild. The reason for this is to avoid 30 people from the same guild signing up. You are allowed 2 representatives, and either the representative or the Org leader must be the one signing up.

I don't see any issues coming up with people who apply as a guild taking more than the posted time.

When is the first meeting?

Although It has not been announced officially yet and we are still playing this by ear pending the # of signups, June 4th is the target date for first meet.

Times to be posted if we confirm (please do not take June 4th as set in stone. That is just a target)

It is not accepting my name in the application?!

The main problem people should encounter with this is if the AO database is being updated. During this time no one is in an org, thus the org check will not work. If the org check does not work you can not submit application as Socialfly has stated. I have seen the database take a few hours to come back up. It is unfortunate, but you will need to wait.

I have a quick question about who is allowed to attend. I of course will be at every meeting that I can attend since I am the Director of my detachment. But I also have a lot of devoted people who would love a chance to sit in on the meetings. My question is, Can the second representative change from meeting to meeting and in the event that I cannot make it, can I send someone in my place?

The second representative can change with notice. But we would like some familiarity for our leaders to have with you, so we probably wouldn't want to change that too much.

This does not limit involvement by members of your org who are not the regular reps. There will be at times assignments given from specific departments, or even a meeting with just your department leader and his affiliates, which would be open to more for discussion.

The important thing to remember is that we are handling this as a Corporation would. Work trickles downward. The boss gives it to someone elses boss, who gives it to someone elses boss, who gives it to your boss who gives it to you. At this time we plan to keep this theme with the meetings.
