PETITION for Apartments

Please, its now 6 months into the game and a basic feature is being neglected.

I asked 3 months ago if we could have them and the response was that it was being worked on.

FC has fixed the bug and now things can be bought and placed instantly in apartments, well done...


BUT ,

we'd like furniture, we'd like the apartmen blocks in cities to work, we'd like (as the response told me) to be able to buy diffrerent types of apartments


and we needa better system of getting people into our apartments than having to team with them.

i mean it doesn't need to be like one big mall or what but uhm, some more items like the 10 or so now possible ehehehe ... or something like a second bank account .....

I'd even wait on the fixer patch for this...

Let us buy/rent new places!! Let us use the currently existing apartments that aren't highrises, that are in the middle of the cities...

This is a ROLE-PLAYING game! And there's a strong rp community here... this shouldn't be too hard, so give it to us!

I agree, we should be able to decorate our apartments with Chairs, tables, sofas, and beds. I just got done looking all over Rubi-Ka when I found out they don't have those yet. :P

The items I did manage to get arn't actually useable. It would be nice to be able to lock them down, and then make them usable. For example if you have a fridge, you put your food in it.

That way when you had guests, they couldn't lift them up and steal them. And speaking of guests, why not allow us to duplicate apartment keys? Using the key duplicator, that way we could have private parties with invitation only.

I think that alot of the changes are being made are unneccessary, and they are geared more towoards the players that are always embroiled in combat. Something that I don't do very often. So I'd like to see this and a few other things, like gambling dens, leet fighting clubs, etc.

And make duped keys non-dupable and one-time use only. That way when the party's over, you don't have to ask everyone for their keys..and pray they didn't dupe it.

I just feel like robing some mission areas.. have you seen the sofas and other furniture they have there!

There are obvious plans for socialisation in this game due to the equipable food and social clothing. So why hasn't apartments been a top priority?

Allow us to set up shops even and sell our stuff with an NPC or terminal inside the building. Omni-Trade would be so much more usefull then.

(I know you're planning on making selling terminals.. but please please please get this done first)

P.S i bought some furniture for my place.. a fan which is upside down, a picture which lays horizontal and a fridge which dissapeard. Sorry but thats just not good enough!

I have a stereo that faces the wall!? A "wonderfull cactus" which I thought would be one of those 5' tall ones instead it's the size of a boot! It should have been called "hey! don't step on my cactus"

What would be really cool would be the ability to add screenshots to picture frames to hang in your apartment
and...
Apartments with belconies, just zone out and stand on you 15th floor balcony overlooking the city.
and....
Music!! from that stereo.

A chest or dresser to put my party cloths in.
and...
animated lava lamps
and...
The ability to turn off the regular lighting and let those lamps be the only source, you know for when I bring that special lady over to visit.

i guess a lot of the folks here came over from UO
(aah...the good old times )

I solo most times in AO but for the next time i do a mission i will need 3 or 4 strong soldiers to carry out the nice sofa i saw in the building where i did my last mission
drawers for clothing were really nice, beds, tables, chairs....you all said it already. Like in UO it would be nice to lock down the items and a "onetime useable" key would be nice too.

And please ! Let me change my Appartment...when i was a newbi i picked my first appartment at highrise (because i didnt know better) and now i cant change it anymore.
Some music would be cool but i have no idea how hard it is to implement such a feature.

Well, i hope FC is working on it so i say...be patient all...lets give them one more hour

I totally agree.....

It'd be nice to be able to change/upgrade yout apartment..... with possibly different rent for those upscale place.... not outrageous though like most shop prices.... and adding all the furniture and stuff would be great.... I for one would love to have a place called "home" instead of just finding a quiet area to log off.... I could go home and "go to bed" when I'm tired IRL.... or leave my character watching the latest news on the Rubi-Ka news station.... This is one area of the game that should be very detailed and fun.... I would love to throw my house warming party with all of my friends....

You know what?

Let's put this in terms of a business move... Funcom does a 13.45 patch, where more apartments are introduced, the ability to put clothes in drawers in your apartment, the ability to hear the shopping channels while there, perhaps a grid entrance/exit that goes straight to your apartment, have furniture that works and stays where you put it etc...

are these features really hard to code? Shouldn't be, it's a copy/paste/modify of existing code assuming you've used an object oriented approach... which I hope to GOD you did...

And... those man hours you spent, now all of us that are frustrated and feeling gimped, we can roleplay. And love it. And other people who have quit the game will look and say "Wow... they're supporting roleplaying? Hey, guys, let's give this a shot" (I know of groups of roleplayers that join and leave games over the ability to roleplay)... you make AO a world where killing isn't the only amusing or entertaining thing to do, and people will come to it...

Thus, making you money, and making your lunch break longer.

It'd also be great if the City Apartment blocks had Reception Area's from where you get a lift (wompa door) to your apartment.
Maybe a nice lil solitus woman behind as desk that says "Mr.Rivers, you have no messages today ....." lol (well, that LAST bit is optional) ;o)
