Ross' Triumphant Return, Promition of Unity

Ross' Triumphant Return, Promition of Unity.

    November 26th, 29478

In an almost unbelievable series of events, Philip Ross has wound his way back to Omni-Tek on Rubi-Ka, ending his several month long disappearance. Accounts from all over Rubi-Ka piece together an intruguing story of action and thrill, worthy of a grand, best-selling work of fiction. There is no doubt in this reporter's eyes that the tale of Ross' return will become legendary prose. But you'll read the full, true story here first, as only an investigative journalist can tell it.

It all started with a shuttle crash east of Omni-2, known by the occupying Clanners as Old Athen. Alien fighters intercepted Ross' craft, which somehow broke through the alien blockade, and managed to shoot it down in the wastelands just outside of a newly-constructed city. Several of Ross' collegues were reportedly killed in the crash, though Ross and one bodyguard, as well as most of a legion of Omni-Prime troopers survived the crash and helped Clanners, led by a rescue Clan team, fight off an alien attack squad. Ross and his entourage managed to disguise themselves as ICC personnel and, with the help of the unknowing Clanners, made his way to the safety of ICC to hide out for a few days and plan his return.

Days later, Ross emerged in ICC Headquarters with his bodyguard, both disguised as ICC diplomats, and made his way through neutral areas to gather a group of people capable of defending him from assassins that were rumored to be stalking him. Telling most of the people we spoke with that he was an ICC Envoy who had to meet with Omni-Tek administration about leasing issues, he managed to evade recognition and convince these Neutral citizens, along with some Omni-Tek Employees who were also in the area, to help him get to Omni-1.

As they entered Omni-1 Trade from ICC Headquarters, Ross' intelligence proved correct, and a single shade assassin appeared in front of him and began to shout various obscenities, apparantly to distract the crowd and Ross as a group of shades crept up behind everyone to make their attempt at Ross' life. These assassins, however, were spotted before they had their chance and the citizens escorting the disguised Ross managed to take them out with ease. This upset the so-called leader of the group, who had been raving the whole time, and she revealed the true identity of the ICC Envoy as Philip Ross. Ross aknowledged this truth and announced his speech, which was made just moments ago, as one that would be held in a place where "all could gather." Ross proceeded through Omni-1 to meet up with a liaison sent from Omni-Prime, who escorted him back to his office.

Ross' return eventually led up today's speech, announced just minutes before it began, and held in a place where, truly, all could gather: ICC Headquarters. Many attended, from all sides of the conflict, and the headcount numbered in the hundreds. Some came to support Ross, while others came to heckle and boo, but there was one clear message Ross presented, seemingly at the insistence of his Omni-Pol liaison who was breathing down his neck. The theme of Ross' speech was unity between all peoples of Rubi-Ka to fight off the alien threat, which Ross said would be necessary to ensure that the invading force of aliens don't completely take over Rubi-Ka and wipe us out in our entirety. Some were agreeable to this, while others fought it harshly. There were very few, however, who were neutral to the idea. Even the Neutrals, themselves, were very vocal.

Will Ross' speech have any effect on the land control wars? That remains to be seen. Recent statistics show that land control wars are already down drastically since the invasion forces arrived, and if Ross' speech has any effect, territory conflicts will come to a veritable halt while aliens are dealt with. Still, some extremists are bound to continue their efforts and minor fluctuations in land control are expected to continue.

Another issue to address is the Omni-Prime presence on Rubi-Ka. Are they truly our friends? Is Mr. Ross under their control? Ross' Omni-Prime companion seemed very insistant on having him say certain things, even interrupting him at one point and apparantly have him move on to the next topic. Nobody can say what role Omni-Prime had in Ross' speech, or will have in the future operations of Omni-Tek on Rubi-Ka, but su****ion seems to be mounting on all sides in the midst of the alien attacks. Only time will tell what the future holds.

I guess the big question here is whether or not this really is Ross. If it is, it would seem Omni-Reform has had some fun with him...

    Thoughts anyone?

Investigative journalism? Unknown clanners? Leader of assisins? Group of shades? So basicly something happened. No facts, no vitnesses.

He announced speach after it was held?

Since in my line of work I need my own sources, I could get some basic information of my own. Missed whole happening, since away on R&R and report is as fuzzy as it can get. But basicly it's same old sand in the eyes routine by OT. Not talking about flight and assisination attempt (if it can be called that....assasins want their target dead, they don't want and don't need to draw attention to themself), but actually Ross explanation on what happened and whole speach thingie. He made speach to regain some of authority after he fleed planet, that's common PR stuff. In it he didn't transmit anything important, just appealed to people that RK needs leadership and presented himself as leader RK needs. Pure PR and none of leadership quality presented. Indeed RK might need to act on joined front against aliens, but Ross didn't offered peace. He didn't even announce to be prepeared to talk about it and/or under what conditions. It makes you wonder if he's really back as OT representative or he don't actually have authority for any of that stuff.

What is so out of place or out of character in Ross speech that we need to indulge in paranoid fantasies? Are the aliens not attacking? Do they not threaten us all? Has the Clan-Omni conflict not turned into a fruitless stalement that has dragged on for centuries?

Have you ever known Ross to check with anyone during a speech? Or have you ever known anyone to check with someone in the middle of the speech. And his liaison from Omni-Prime there to watch him, and make sure hes doing things right.

If you dont see the obvious here, your totally blind. Its not a paranoid fantasy, something is wrong. Hes NOT the same Ross as before he left. There are only 2 ways I can think he may have changed. Omni-Reform, or a Replacement, Omni-Reform being the more likely of the 2. Its not that far fetched of an assumption.

I'm kinda intrigued by the obvious doubt the Omni-Tek reporter has in his own corporation, which is also the same one that pays his salary. Wonder if he's still alive.... *snicker*

As for Ross' return...The man's under some sort of pressure, I think that much is clear. At least to me. However, I'm not trusting him any more or any less than before his little disappearance stunt. Well, maybe less, since he's fresh out of Omni-Prime and seems to be under surveillance or control. His return shouldn't change anything for the clans. Our fight is still with the corporation, only overshadowed by the aliens.

I was referring to Ross's speech, not to the spin the reporter was putting on it. What people won't do to sell papers, eh?

And Fixerben. I am sure I recall slipping out of sight for a few months a while back. Does that mean you are a clone too?

One thing that the article doesn't mention is that one of the shades (the one who was distracting all of us while the other shades appeared) is also one of the ones who attacked the council of truth and held them hostage demanding that Silverstone leave Tir....

I remember because I was there for both attacks. This shade is a female opifex named "Venimous" and her shade gang called themselves Wraiths.

The whole time she kept screaming "you don't know what you're doing!" and warning us to not help the two ICC people (of which Mr. Ross was one).

bit of a weird connection, that's for sure...

*Yume sits back at her desk with a fresh cup of coffee and reads the report*

So? He has some monkey on his back, he's got superiors as well. Maybe he was getting overconfident, or over-developing his ego, but I'm not getting onto that subject. You see, Mr Ross, real, false, reborn, reprogrammed, I honestly don't care, but he -is- the spokesperson for OT-RK, which, at the moment, is facing the first wave of a hostile force which was previously unknown to humans, or human-based breeds as it were. Not only is he the spokesperson of OT-RK now, but of OT as a whole in the situation of the alien invaders, so some... restrictions of actions or statements should be expected. I think, rather than critisize the man for his strained conduct in these stressful times, we should concider the words, and the meaning of them, and think about actually helping each other like the civilized people we claim to be. Humans are adaptive beings, which has ensured their survival, but not only on an individual bases, but whenever a threat that lingers over humanity as a whole is brought before them, they have, in the past, worked together against those threats, diseases, plagues, species, nature itself.
Henceforth I would request that we at least attempt to work together, it doesn't mean you have to like every other person, but respect that they are people as well, and work in part toward a common goal, if you feel the need, while keeping an eye on those you feel are su****ious, but please, do not allow paranoid thoughts and designs cause you to hinder the defense of our race, and more closely, our planet.

    Thank you.

I am a bit conserned over the reporters tone as I sit reading the news today. A reporter from the OTPC should know better than that.

As some have already say I am also surprised that people react on the liason at Mr.Ross`shoulder. Im not surprised at all that Mr.Ross, after surviving several life-threatening situations in few days, needed some help to get hes fact straight during the speech.
And also one must remember that Mr.Ross is also an employee of Omni-Tek and therefore Omni-Prime. For Mr.Ross it is as common to receive orders from Omni-Prime as it is for most loyall employee`s to receive orders from any executive whatsoever.

Try and not be so overdramatic people.

I didnt return with a liaison from Omni-Prime, and no one tells me what to say or when to say it. Its mostly nothing to do with him disappearing, more of how hes acted since hes been back. I am the same Democracy pushing Clansmen I've always been, I've not changed.

I believe that Mr. Ross is still the same man he was when he left. But, the presence of the liason from Omni-Prime is troubling. Then again, perhaps us of Omni-Tek Rubi-ka should be happy that the mother corporation is turning it's attention back towards us? There is no doubt we can use all the help we can get in the fight against the alien menace; and if Prime thinks we, the people of Rubi-Ka should unite...well, perhaps they're right.

There are too many questions right now though. Who are these "Wraiths"? What do they want? What is the liason doing here? How does Ross fit into all of this? I suppose we will have to wait and see how this latest chapter plays out...

So Ross returns to Rubi-Ka and makes a speech about how we must all unite to fight against the aliens from outer space.

A day later the Clans descend into bloody civil war in Tir with the pro and anti-Sentinel factions of the Council of Truth coming to blows.

You think the Clans may have staged this all just to prove they don't have to do what Omni-Tek says anymore?

Finally! I'd virtualy lost hope recently, and yet, withing DAYS, Omni Tek has begun to take the first steps in restoring order. With Ross back, and Omni AF on the prowl (with, admittly, help from Unicorn, which, while not pleasant, i will accept for now), things are starting to look up.

Great to see Ross back! But his attitude now troubles me a bit. I will always be a loyal Omni-Tek employee, but I can't help wonder what they did to him. It troubles me to hear him say such things as that...Omni is more than well equipped to defend ourselves against two threats. We shall have to wait and see....

  20. #20
There are no reason to fear or suspect the Unicorns and Omni-Prime. Mr.Ross have always, to some degree, taken hes orders from them and as long as he is an Omni employee he will continue to do so. Why are we so afraid of the facts???

Do our loyalty lie with Mr.Ross rather than Omni-Admin? If your answer to this is yes I encourage you to think twice about it.
Mr.Ross have done wonderful things for us loyal employees here on RubiKa. He has even managed to do good for the other factions aswell. I respect Mr.Ross endlessly.

Still, there is no way Mr.Ross could have done anything at all with the full backing from the men on the top of the food-chain. Omni-Admin have always controlled every chairman, general or other top-notch officer within the Corp.
