Investigation of the Hope Crash Site

(OTPC) -- On the evening of May 9th, a group composed of Omni-Pol soldiers and scientists arrived in Rome to gather an escort party. Their mission was to investigate the crash site near the small Hope Outpost, located within the area of Mort, but something went wrong.

Sources say there was a total of five members of the investigation team: two Omni-Pol soldiers, and three scientists. Their first task was to recruit an escort team. Once they had recruited their escort teams, they set off for the crash site via the Whom-Pah system. Once they arrived at the crash site, it was discovered that the Sentinels had secured the crash site for the Clans. The Clan scum could not stop the Omni-Pol escort team, and were quickly wiped out.

Once the area was secured the scientists moved in and began to examine the site, while the rest of the escort team provided cover. It did not take long for the scientists to come to several conclusions. Apparently, the radiation levels were not as high as it had been expected. And most of the craft was still intact.

Shortly after, one of the scientists found a strange looking device of some sort. Once it was activated, people began to die without obvious cause, the strongest people targeted first. Within a few minutes, the escort team began to panic and begged the lead scientist, a Xeno Biologist named Gustaff, to allow a retreat; he refused. Many claimed he was insane. I managed to track him down and ask him a few questions. What follows is an audio log of the interview:

Chilia: Doctor Gustaff, many people who were with you on the mission were slain by an unknown attacker, and your refusal to retreat could have avoided several of those deaths. Why did you not retreat?

Gustaff: Things like that happen when you're in enemy territory. I did not want to run away just because a few people got scared. The people were there to provide cover for me and my team, and they did that, and some died. End of story.

Chilia: Yes, according to my sources, then you managed to take detailed scans of the area, and of the crash site. What can you tell me about it?

Gustaff: The scans I took were mostly related to the radiation. It was very interesting as to how it had mutated the local wildlife.

Chilia: Come on Doctor, was that really all you scanned?

Gustaff: Of course not! I also managed to scan several parts of the craft. But I am not an engineer, so I can not be sure what all of them mean. But I am sure of one thing: the craft had been shot down by thermal warheads, and I am quite sure that it was the Sentinels who did it. Why else would they secure the site themselves? They are nothing more then a band of scavengers, trying to steal company secrets.

Chilia: What about the attack? The Clans have reported that they were attacked as well.

Gustaff: They were stupid enough to enter the site. That lunatic Simon Silverstone had installed some kind of defense control, and they were stupid enough to set it off. We did the same; there is nothing more to it.

Chilia: I see. But can you confirm some of the rumors that have been circulating?

Gustaff: And what rumors is that?

Chilia: Well, some think that this craft might not be Clan or Omni-Tek. Some might even claim that it was alien.

Gustaff: What rhetorical nonsense! That must be the stupidest thing I have heard yet! The shuttle is, and was, an Omni-Tek survey craft. It was shot down and the crew was murdered! You should not believe all the gossip that the Clans throw in your face!

Chilia: What makes you so certain that it was an Omni-Tek craft?

Gustaff: Why do I have to repeat myself over and over? There is no such thing as aliens! I have been on a several planets all across the galaxy, and I have never seen anything that might even suggest that! We control the galaxy! Humans, not some propaganda babble! This interview is over!

With that said, the doctor walked away. His escort made sure that I could not follow him. He believes that this is a Sentinel plan, fitting well with the actions made by the Sentinels during the past few weeks. Simon himself said that he would not take the stand as spokesman for the Council of Truth; because he had Omnis to kill. It is not surprising for us to find this to be very near to the truth.

Come on doctor Gusstaf. If there is alien animal life that means that they mihgt be even an inteligent alien lifeform. And as you say you are no engineer so dont make claims about what kinda technologi is that craft. And oh yes human control this galaxy but what about the other galaxies? Some mihgt say that intergalactic travel is imposibil. Yes four us! And f yes there was a period when interplanetary travel was alsou imposibil for us. And a period when man know that the world is flat. Be more open minded.

It hurts me to the core but in some ways I agree with Mihalix here. We have found alien life forms. So we might find a intelligent alien life form.
Worse still, an Alien life form may find us........

Glad to see that this report enlightens this subject aswell. Maybe it can help people understand that there are more than one way to look at things.

Emm, guys... The good (or bad) doctor, said there was no such thing as alien life... So what make you keep babling about it? Even though i am clan, then i would not be superised if the sentinels was behind this. But then again, it might just as well be Omni... but come on... aliens? Heh

But i was not babaling about who shot that thing down i was talking about the dear doctor was saying that there are no alians. Mankind is origind from Terra. That means that Rubika is loaded whit aliens. Oh yes and i forget about the Shadow lands.

The universe is a big, big place, and we have not yet explored it all. And who says they even have to be from this universe. The ShadoLands readily proved to us the existence of other dimensions.

My Cryptoxenobiology professor has a habit of saying, “Life is as common, but intelligence is unique.” While the point is valid that Homo Solitus and its offshoots have not explored ever nanometer of the universe, we have yet to find any conclusive evidence in the past fifteen millennia of exploration. No ruins, no biomaterial, no radio signals, nothing.

Some would point to Turtle, or other worlds with odd genetics that float around. While some have claimed that this points to Alien cross breeding, it’s been demonstrated that the most likely explanation is genetic engineering that was unregistered and unapproved by the ICC.

Then there are the Daniks. The concept that we had alien help in the past demeans our achievements. For some, the idea that we can achieve great feats is so alien a concept that the only explanation is aliens.

The theories invoking other dimensions or voyagers from another galaxy are difficult to support, other than saying “It’s in the realm of possibility.” It is possible. It doesn’t seem likely.

The simplest theory that explains the events is usually the one that is the most accurate. Overall, I see few reasons to doubt Dr. Gustaff’s findings.

The Omni-Tek corporation has the best scientist in the galaxy, it appalls me that rebel yahoos who operate out of mud huts in Tir some how think them selves qualified to assess a situation like this, if the good doctor says there are no aliens then there are more then likely no aliens. It seems apparent to me that the so called “sentinels” little trap backfired on their fellow claners.

I do not think that involves aliens, why all of a sudden should some alien life form arrive here?

It is some new and secret technology OT is developing in order to get back the total control of the planet.

We clanners must stand up against this, I think we are facing a new and even bigger threat, not coming from some harmless underdeveloped life form, but from our very enemies themself!

Also the fact that only 2 omni soldiers can wipe out a clan team of fighters cannot be true, I am sure there were more soldiers involved in this due to the top secret nature of this technology.

I'd backup Xhairs here. As it was it proved in 27000 years of exploration, Solitus (and associated) seems to be the only intelligent specie in the universe (well we don't know _all_ the universe, but still thousands of solar systems).

But, what Shadowlands showed, it's the existence of dimensional worlds. Jobe scientists unlocked the gates for them, maybe the death of The Beast unlocked another bridge between two dimensions.

What realy got me thinking, and i bet it will get you thinking too, is that Omni-Tek went out and said that it (paraphrazing here) was an OT scout ship (experimental kind if you read between the lines) that crashed.

How likely do you think it would be for Omni-Tek to say such a thing if it actualy was the truth? Propaganda, misinformation, counter inteligence, counter espionage.

To say that "humans are the only intelligent species in the universe" is unlikely to be true, given what we know of the universe so far.

Our galaxy, the Milky Way, partially or fully explored, is 0.00001% or less of the Universe.

The remaining 99.99999% might well make a difference, to say the least.

We 'rebel yahoos' do at least know how to do math properly.

Does not matter if you come from a mud hut from Tir or from a mega large Omni lab. What matters is what is in your head. Omni coke or brilliance. I will not say that omni scientist or dum. I only say those are dum who judge whitout any knowledge at all. I siad before and i say it again im a soldier not a scientist but i have a mind of my own to think. I will never invent new things but i will go to the battel field and bleed and do my best for our cause. Some i repeat some omni enployes are extremly arrogant you should change that atitude.But some since im here on rubi ka omni employes i begun to respect. To respect their open mindned nature and their loyalty towards those who they chose to serve. I respect my enemy. I am going have to side with the skeptics on this one here and aggree that the whoever was in charge of the research/recovery or whatever the heck it is that they were doing that led to the two firefights that broke out is in need of a visit to Omni-Reform to see if they are still competent at their job. Because if these results are anything, that person in Omni-Tek isn't.

All this fantasy about aliens is very interesting, but let's stay focused on the real issue here. Where did Silverstone get the capacity to launch thermal bombs into orbit? The ability to shoot down an Omni-Tek scout craft requires some very sophistcated weaponry.

I suppose it's feasable that if the Sentinals and the Unionists were to join forces they might be able to build the appropriate infrastructure to pull it off, but there has been no indication that this is the case. That only leaves one possible solution: the Sentinals are aquiring high-powered weapons from an offworld source. This is a VERY concerning development and needs to be investigated in depth.

That the Sentinels have acquired weapons that can shoot down spacecraft from orbit is one possibility, of course.

But: The spacecraft came from - you guessed it - space. Where the Clans hold little power, but where Omni-Tek can muster considerable forces - more than enough to blast a ship of a small size.

Thermal scoring holds little information to make an identification about who damaged the craft enough that it was forced to make a crash landing upon Rubi-Ka. At this time there's been no positive ID on the vehicle, and as such one can't assume that it is of Omni-Tek origin, nor of xeno origin (aka aliens). Even with the warning of the entity known as Number Nine fresh in mind.

From an objective point of view, there's simply not enough data to draw conclusions, and I'd rather not make assumptions that could prove disastrously wrong later.

We all have to wait for the analysis to progress. I can only hope that the time since the crash (well over a week) has been used to intensively study retrieved debris and apparatus to get a better idea of the who and the what.

It seems that someone cracked under the pressure of all of this, namely the doctor there in his inerview. I wonder though... how much Omni-Tek is hiding, it seems that the doc knows a lot more than he's willing to say (as usual when it comes to Omni related issues). It seems that the dirt tossing over to clan in this situation isn't going to work, namely because Clan (and Neuturals for that matter) have very little control of issues that revolve outside of Rubi-Ka. This matter came from outside Rubi-Ka and onto it.

It could also be that Doctor Gustaff is just tired of non-scientists second-guessing his findings. I get the same way when people tell me what rifle I should use.

Not as much second-guessing the good doctor's "findings" as pointing out gaping holes in his reasoning, actually.
