Possible to track sold accounts?

If a player sell his account and then starts up a new one, is this possible to prove in any way? If he did something stupid like telling someone that he sold his account for X dollars and then got reported, it's just hearsay to start with.

it should be pretty easy to track, just look at the name on the credit card being used to pay for the account, if it suddenly changes there is a chance the account might havebeen sold. For more technical bods they could trace the IP address of the internet connection using the account, although this wouldnt be as conclusive as you could play from elsewhere. A sudden shift from New Zealand to Peru might give a pause for thought though
