Grand Reopening of The Cup a Rousing Success

West Athen (FJRK) -- For one blissful evening, a brief flicker of four hours in the history of a remarkable little planet, the people of Rubi-Ka cast aside the shackles of political difference and joined Beverly "Lightswift" Puller, the newly-appointed Deputy Manager of The Cup, in a celebration that undoubtedly shook the ground throughout West Athen.
As the twin suns of Rubi-Ka slowly descended below the northern desert horizon, party-goers, well-wishers and bitter enemies came together for an historic gala event to mark the grand reopening of The Cup, hosted by the illuminating new Deputy Manager of the café. Aside from a minor disturbance during the first half of the party, based on the words of partygoers, the event was a rousing success.
"It was fantastic!" exclaimed Suzi "Ceslenda" Freiman, a General with Clan Tiger Claw, when asked for her opinion on the event. "A great party from Lightswift, no trouble, great atmosphere, fantastic lighting effects! You couldn't ask for a better host, or a better atmosphere."
Entertainment was provided by DJs Tristalyn and Pantie, of the world-renowned Gridstream Productions. The eclectic, driving rhythms and thundering, melodic bass spun by the two DJs, although quite juxtaposed against the normally serene and quiet atmosphere of The Cup, forced most to the makeshift dance floor in the center, compelled by the atmosphere and, undoubtedly, by the drink, to turn loose.
"I think the floor's about to get ripped up, DJ got here!" Sophia "Isyla" Isengrad cried out as DJ Pantie made her way into the bar for the second half of the evening.
To ensure that no major factional altercations occurred, and perhaps paying onus to the rumoured threats made by The Syndicate leading into the event, Ms. Puller was accompanied by an entourage of bouncers, who, thankfully, were not called to action.
As a crowd numbering in the double-digits slowly filtered into The Cup, they were greeted by the warm welcome of their hostess, who was repeatedly heard shouting out, "Welcome to The Cup. Please leave your affiliation at the door and have fun. We'll have dancing and contests and a great light show, so stick around!"
Bobby "Headcase" Rotten, a member of Clan Veritas, performed admirably in his role as bartender and waiter, serving those who are normally refused service by the regular wait staff at the café.
Ms. Puller seemed ecstatic at the turnout and the course of events.
"The first half of the party went very, very well." Ms. Puller commented upon arriving for the second half. "It was much better than I could ever have hoped."
As the night slowly came to an end, a dance contest brought everyone, even those who had up to that point elected to sit for the balance of the evening, to the dance floor. After spectacular performances by many, the winner was announced, as judged by the bouncers. Sophia "Isyla" Isengrad prevailed under stiff competition, netting herself a ten-million credit prize.
Make no mistake, Rubi-Ka is indeed currently under the iron hold of a de facto state of war, but if the composition of the crowd Friday evening was any indication, the citizens of this planet do have the ability to cast aside their differences and come together in celebration. This point certainly was not lost on the hostess, who, towards the end of the night, epitomized the atmosphere created by the festivities.
"The Cup...a little bit of peace."
