    What is the relative IP cost of the various colo(u)rs

    Can anybody tell me what the relative IP costs of the various colours are.

    Thanks

    I dont know the precise numbers, but obviously light green is the cheapeast on IP, and Dark blue is the most expensive.

    Yeah - unfortunately I'm red/green colour blind which means I interpret green as a spectrum of other colours.
    Being colour blind also tends to make you colour lazy as you can never be certain your version of colour space matches everyone else's.

    This makes interpreting a scale that goes from light green to dark blue somewhat inaccurate.

    So from my point of view as far as I can tell.

    Light brown colour (prob light green) is the easiest skill.
    Then there's a sort of grey colour which I think is the next one up.
    Then what I would call pink (though I can't see pink properly either).
    Then blue.

    What am I missing and can anyone tell me what the proportions are. Looking at some completely unraised skills I have and pushing them up one notch seems to result in.

    L Green - ? couldn't test.
    grey - 8 IP
    pink - 10 IP
    blue - 12 IP

    The following chart is for skills (not abilities).

    Cost: How much more each successive point costs. Also, the first point of the skill costs 5 times the listed cost.
    For example, if the cost is listed as 1.2, and the next point of the skill costs (X) IP, the point after that will cost (X + 1.2), and the point after that will cost (X + 2.4), etc. The first point of the skill costs (5 * 1.2).

    Color: Color of skill.
    G = Green
    L = Light blue
    M = Medium blue
    D = Dark blue

    Pts/Lvl: The maximum number of points the skill can be raised per level, as long as it is not capped for the title.

    Code:
    Cost  Color  Pts/Lvl
    ----  -----  -------
    1.0     G       5
    1.1     L       5
    1.2     L       5
    1.3     L       5
    1.4     L       5
    1.5     L       4
    1.6     M       4
    1.7     M       4
    1.8     M       4
    1.9     M       4
    2.0     M       4
    2.1     D       4
    2.2     D       4
    2.3     D       4
    2.4     D       4
    2.5     D       4
    2.6     D       4
    2.7     D       4
    2.8     D       4
    2.9     D       4
    3.0     D       4
    3.1     D       4
    3.2     D       4
    3.3     D       4
    3.4     D       4
    3.5     D       3
    3.6     D       3
    3.7     D       3
    3.8     D       3
    3.9     D       3
    4.0     D       3
    4.1     D       3
    4.2     D       3
    4.3     D       3
    4.4     D       3
    4.5     D       3
    4.6     D       3
    4.7     D       3
    4.8     D       3

    My god - no wonder Funcom are having so many problems with the IP reset.

    I'm not sure I can make any sense out of your chart - but what you seem to be saying is

    cost = 5k+(n-1)k

    Where k is the current level cost and n is the number of levels you've tried to increase by. Surely this is going to hit some point where,

    n1*(5k+xk) < 5k+(n-1)k

    eg. Pushing the bar up 4 lots of 20 gets you more levels than pushing it 80 points in one go. I think I've probably misunderstood something as the long list makes no sense either.

    the cost to increase a skill increases by 1/5 the initial cost of the skill

    Therefore a bright green skill will increase by 1 point cost everytime you increase it

    a 10 point base skill will increase by 2 points every increase

    a 20 point skill will increase by 4 points cost every increase

    quite simply actually

    You can get your answers by looking at this Skill Chart

    Yes, what Oberon said. The "Cost" column represents 1/5 the initial cost of the skill.

    The only purpose of the chart is to show the relationship between cost and color (which answers the original question), and between cost and how many points a skill can be raised per level.

    Perhaps a better way to show the information is:

    Code:
          1.0 Green
    1.1 - 1.5 Light blue
    1.6 - 2.0 Medium blue
    2.1 - 5.0 Dark blue

    1.0 - 1.4 Can be raised 5 per level
    1.5 - 3.4 Can be raised 4 per level
    3.5 - 5.0 Can be raised 3 per level

    There's another chart for the skill max on those skills when you reach a title level I think too.

    1.0-1.4 Highest max
    1.5-2.4 2nd highest max
    2.5-3.4 3rd highest max
    3.5-4.4 4th highest max
    4.5-5.5 Lowest max

    Funcom made a mistake with the skill colors. They should have coincided with the max the skill can reach and with the number of practices per level. A light blue skill of cost 1.1 to 1.4 reaches levels just as high as a green skill, but a light blue skill of cost 1.5 is an inferior skill with a lower skill limit.

    To confuse you more they threw in some bonus points based on your attribute scores (4 points of the attribute gives 1 point bonus to the skill score on a skill 100% based on that attribute) so it is difficult to figure out how many ip it will really cost to raise your skill score without actually cranking the meter up. It doesn't matter whether you buy your skill points at once or a little at a time. It doesn't matter whether you have high attribute scores before or after you buy your skill points. They still cost the exactly the same amount to raise even though it isn't always evident.
