“Your help will be sufficient in allowing us to eventually continue from where your scientists left off.” The scientist in a pristine white lab coat said.

“How long will it be until you have a working prototype?” Inquired the anxious administrator.

“Hard to say, the loss of the original prototype was unfortunate. We’ll see what we can do.” He gestured towards the room of engineers trying to draft up a blueprint.

*** Two months later…***

Administrator Charles Kithrak Houston walked through the former offices of Red Tape with his droid in tow. The place was in shambles, most of the equipment has been removed and construction work underway to remodel for a new department moving in. The sight caused him to pause in anger as he remembered how their department used to be before the corporate saboteurs brought it down from within. The spell passed and he continued walking to his office. He reached into his pocket to his office and used a keycard on the reader unit next to it.

Looking around, a thin layer of dust has settled on everything in the room but otherwise it is untouched. He pointed to his Omni-Admin Guardian droid. “You, pack everything and have it sent to my office in Omni-HQ.”

“Everything?” The droid’s tone held just a hint of reluctance and tilted its head.

“Yes, everything.” Making a mental note to himself noting the droid’s hesitation. I will need to reprogram the droid next maintance cycle. Ever since having been infected by and later cured of the ‘dancing leet’ virus the droid has been acting oddly. It was as if it had a mind of its own, which wasn’t possible because it was programmed to blindly follow orders.

Kithrak has spent the last two months assisting the scientists at Omni-Research trying to pick up from where his own department left off in the development of the Nanomage Environmental Suit. The corporate saboteurs had gotten away and are now being sheltered by HYDRA, hiding. The disloyal department in question has denied knowledge of all their member’s past histories. It came as no surprise, HYDRA have always been the department of choice for Omni-Tek’s criminals and traitors to flee to. His appeals to Omni-Admin’s upper management for action were ignored, citing that it was better to allow the disloyal to congregate where they can be monitored more easily. Though there was a hint from his superiors that in the distant future when the Clanner threat has passed all those that had wronged Omni-Tek hiding in HYDRA will be dealt with ‘properly’, it was little condolence for the administrator that wanted them to be dealt with immediately.

Nevertheless, the promise of eventual justice has allowed the administrator to concentrate on other things. Among them is the Newland Guards Initiative that has gained momentum and acceptance since he was gone.

The administrator took one last look around Red Tape’s former offices recalling the last two years and the things they have accomplished, some helping shape Rubi-Kan history. And so a new chapter begins. He used a sleeve on his suit to brush aside some dust that have gotten into his eye while he was reminiscing and made his way out.
