Shadow calls...

The following is a series of poems I've written in the time I've spent traveling the Shadowlands. I'm trying to write one for each zone, but Elysium and Scheol so far are pretty close to each other. So far I hve Elysium, Adonis, and Penumbra, as my journeys continue more will follow. I hope you enjoy them

Heaven or Hell - (Elysium)

Rolling green pastures
Flat plateaus, hills
A wondrous beautiful place
For exploration and thrills
Still I have this feeling
A subtle undertone
This is not the place
I was meant to call home
Broken cities abound
Ruins of civilizations ages
In this place
Time began to turn the pages

Sages and ages
Passed and gone
Still a struggle unfolds
We carry it on
Here, and now it begins
We recommence the fight
Between good and evil
Balance of wrong and right

Benevolent or Malevolent
Are the forces that guide
Through this twisted heaven
They take us for a ride.

The Abyss - (Adonis)

Deep in the dark, cold abyss
Trapped in metawater
Something is amiss
Omega found in temples
The root of evil alive
Until we brothers storm them
So Solitus may survive
Ancient tormentors of sacred life

Prophets and Visionists
Evil seers
Lost in the Abyss
For countless years
For profit we kill
To further our cause
Guns and swords
Against teeth and claws

Through the Abyss
To undiscovered lands
We will be the one
To answer the Shadow's demands.

Cold Death - (Penumbra)

Eyes forward
Barrels straight
Eyes and minds
Filled with hate

Centuries pass
Time goes by
Still fighting
Not questioning why

Hope of future
Maybe cease fire
Free from bullets
Away from barbed wire

Across the fields I see
My age old enemy
Living just like me
Even they can not see

Gun in hand
Hunger in eyes
Arms raised in anger
Shots ring into the skies

A sudden rush
A sharp pain
Running forward
Bodies fall like rain

Ally or Enemy
Friend or Foe
It doesnt matter
We all bleed red

Not to knock some good Poetry but I offer this

instead of "and you are already dead"

how about "And the final price has been Paid."

Rhymes with Afraid better...

Thats just a quote, I couldnt find who said it. Its not part of the poem.

I'm pretty sure he was quoting a peice of Roman Literature. I cant seem to find that peice though, I might be wrong. And if I am wrong, I need a more proper name to quote than just Maximus. I know it was more than that in the movie. That was just what they called him. It was "Something Maximus Arillius", I'm looking for it still though.

Dead World? - (Scheol)

The world of Scheol
Not quite what it seems
Things of old
And things of dreams
Whipping winds sting my skin
As I explore the underworld within
The land is torn
Bridges broken
The land reeks of evil unspoken
Jagged rocks, sharp outshoots
Land bridges crumble beneath my Azure boots
Humungous caverns deep underground
In this place
Your nightmares are found
Twisted floating cities
Perilous falls
Curious to see
Like I'm walking on the walls
Deeper within the chasms
I hear a voice, its small
Barely though I hear it
It is the Shadow's call...

Deeper in...

Is this a dead world?
Or the world of the dead?
Louder now the call of the shadows
Rings in my head...
