Thread: The smuggling of Omni-Med suits

  1. #41
The first I heard of any threat was when I woke up for the 4th time on Reclaim, having been chained deathed back to Tir. I complained to the powers that be, and they said that we had been threatening NLC!

    POPPYCOCK!

I think either the Neutrals were nervous that we would discover that they were really just a liberal arm of Omni-Tek if we carried on socialising with them or maybe OT forced it on them to protect the location of their newest secret research base, both rumours heard at the time, and certainly hold a lot more truth than Tir Clanners threatening NLC, that is just OT Propoganda at work, and the gulibility of the Neutrals showing. They'll believe anything OT says!

*Grunt* And by this i think it has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that no matter what faction you swear your allegiance to you will suffer severe braindamage if you keep screaming long enough for oxygen deprevation to set in.

All is not as it seems. I hear people screaming about some DNA-check to make sure that only loyal omni employees can wear the med suits. What's up with that? DNA? Omni Tek employees doesn't have different DNA and even if they did it doesn't keep track of any political changes that may occure through a persons life.
Sounds to me like some people want to restrict things so that only the most loyal OT would qualify. I don't care if you want to go that way, it's your funeral. Who is going to decide what companies are loyal enough to be issued with OT equipment? Omni-Pol?
Not to discredit Omni-Pol here but they do seem to spend an awful lot of time around Athen which is a known hangout for the most dangerous clanners.

Surely there is a deeper political agenda behind this, I have never had any real problem aquiring these med suits. There is stashes of them scattered all of over Rubi-Kak, any mission terminal can point your way to one near you. No need to pay some Omni company to "smuggle" them to neutral territory. (Not an attack on their business principle, I'm just saying I'm not one of their prime customers that's all.)
Personally I walk over to one of the stores in Omni Trade, Omni Entertainment or perhaps Rome, give some tips to one of the locals and proceed to the bar while he/she finishes getting my order.
(Highrise 8 is also a good spot although I do wish someone would clean up the swamp. The stench is terrible.)
This arrangement works out great for both parties, I get my order and the poor omni-tek employee gets more credits to pay for tutoring and equipment.
And when are you going to start paying these people decent wages?
No wonder so many flock to the clans.

    Subversion of the youth?
Nothing worse then encouraging unprovoked murder through the speakers that are all over the OT cities.
Someone has to give these newly arrived people a friendly impression of clanners.

First of all, DNA is gotten through scanners and stored in files, which could then be accessed by certain equipment to check if the DNA of the one wearing the suit is a member of the Omni-Tek Corporation or not.
The most loyal departments are the ones that have spent most time with Omni-Tek and done the most deeds. It's a statistic thing, and if anyone would want to restrict something to loyal departments, they'd look at those. For loyal individual employees, it's a matter of standing with the Omni-Tek Corporation, decided by accomplishments, tokens, ranks and permanent record.
Omni-Pol is around Athen in order to seek out these dangerous individuals so they can be arrested or questioned. Any other reasons for Omni-Pol employees being there may include leisure activities (killing guards) or watching the now-wrecked Omni-2 and trying to recall its former splendour.

As for the part about mission terminals, how do you think your clanner employers manage to get a hold of those med suits? SMUGGLING! That's right. No way that they could've made those themselves, as for one thing, the logo would have been drawn on with red magic marker, and second it would be largely inferior to the Omni-Med suit.

All Omni-Tek employees get more than decent wages. Those employees who are poor are either poor workers or big spenders.

The speakers are morale boosters that proclaim the inferiority of the Clans and the supremity of Omni-Tek. The Clans have the same thing, just much less sophisticated, as you don't have our technology. Your kind mostly uses posters or carves words in the walls to make their propaganda known.
Also, none of our attacks are unprovoked. We attack you because of your open aggression and because of the fear that you will attack us if we don't attack you (which is a highly likely scenario, due to your kind's belligerence). Then again, some of us attack you to get vengeance for the death and havoc you've wreaked on our Company's facilities, cities and employees since the Clans were first created.

The fact that many of the clans have access to OT Medical suits is nothing new, and nothing much for OT employees to be concerned about.

Firstly - clans having access to the Med suits. Well, you're just going to have to live with that. I personally have six backpacks full of the things, as I used to trade in them, and a contact who will get me more whenever I like. There are so many of these suits in clan territory that even if the supply dried up tomorrow, access to them would continue for many years.

Secondly - the implication that there are corrupt OT employess willing to sell out their corporate morals for money. Well, that's because they're OT employees - by definition willing to sell out any principles for a nice pension and a dental plan. I'm sure that there are some that swallow the corporate line, but OT are always going to be plagued by the fact they recruit the ruthless, the ambitious, the corrupt.

And last - although OT are not going to stop the smuggling - what would happen if they did? If these technological solutions were implemented? Well, the clans invented CAS symbiotic armour, have withstood the might of OT with a huge materiel disadvantage, and have found ways of scavenging useful weapons from destroyed OT command juggernauts. I'm pretty sure we can find someone to hack a med suit.

Go back to counting your beans, there is nothing to see here.

Ambition is great! Go from 0 to 6 mil in a couple o' months! As for ruthless.... I gotta look that one up. Haven't heard it much. Sounds like words I hear used to describe Nevver, though. And corruption.... bah, I won't even get into that! I see THAT crap every day!

Omni-Pol should consider seizing all omni-tek med suits from the band of second-hand traders which have set up shops in shuttle landing zones in non-Omni controlled territories. That is the only way to cease the flow of omni owned goods into Clan territory.
